Is Kate Middleton wearing a blonde WIG?

Saw pictures today of Catherine, The Princess of Wales at the Natural History Museum.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-15064693/Princess-Wales-natural-history-museum-return-work-summer.html

I’m glad to see her back to work and looking happy. I’m also stunned by how different her hair looks. I always admired her amazing brown hair, so the blonde is quite the shock. Maybe it’s the wind and the rain creating the effect, but it almost looks like she is wearing a wig?

Just to clarify, I understand she went through cancer treatment and that can affect the hair in many ways. If she is wearing a wig, I really really don’t see a problem with it. If anything, it would be such a boon to cancer patients and people with alopecia etc who do wear wigs frequently. They could see that even wearing a wig you could look as fabulous as Kate.

Either way what is your verdict, wig or her own hair? Does the blonde suit her or do you prefer her as a brunette?

For the Vote:
You are being unreasonable, Kate's hair is all her own.
You are NOT being unreasonable, it's defiantly a wig.

Also as a side note I love her outfit.

Good Heir Day! Kate returns to duties with blonde post-holiday hair

The Princess of Wales joined her husband Prince William to visit the Natural History Museum in London today as they returned to duties after their summer break.

How about Madeleine of Sweden?

WOW, they do look similar! 😃

I don't get this whole blonde thing.

If you ordered a blonde wig online and they delivered something that colour you'd return it on the basis that it's brown. Not blonde.

My hair
is basically this colour (used to be naturally v dark brown) I love it, feel much younger, a lot less draining and hides the greys

Its a lovely colour just I do not think it suits her

My hair is dark brown and has lightened, it has always caught the sun but its changed it doesn't look highlight by the sun anymore just lighter and a duller

100% that is a syrup, a very nice one. But it looks way to full and bouncy and the hairline...

Nothing wrong with wearing wigs. But if she was asked I'd hope she'd tell the truth. As lots of women do look up to her and her style.

I hope no one would be rude enough to ask. It must be hard for her to face the world when people speculate about such a difficult subject for any woman. She's a human being with feelings like anyone else, she doesn't have to be some sort of therapy dog for others.

Its a UK think to have comically long princess hair.
Compare and contrast kate vs charlene

Charlene's hair caused such a furore in the press because hair as short as hers is the unusual thing.

All the Swedish princesses have long hair, Madeleine and Sofia often wear theirs down

Queen Maxima has long hair, as do her three daughters. Maxima often wears hers down.

Kate isn't remotely unusual in being a long haired princess

What Charlene the singer? She had lovely long hair! Still does AFAIK.

Sofia of Sweden also has "comically long princess hair."

As does Queen Mary of Denmark.

It's almost as if the poster is talking shyte.

Please will people stop calling her Kate Middleton. She is Catherine, Princess of Wales.

No. Why does it matter? This is MN, not the Court Circular. We don't have to be so formal.

Catherine, Princess of Wales is nice, but much more of a mouthful than Kate/Kate Middleton.

I think autocorrect may actually change the meaning of defiantly in years to come given it's responsible for it so much of the time

Hoolahoophop · 04/09/2025 14:39

Do you think this is why the late Queen picked a hair style for her coronation and kept it for her whole life? Same with Princess Anne, pick a style, keep it for life, avoid all the excitement and comment over a minor change which many women would make every few years at least?

Shitpeas · 04/09/2025 13:41

I reckon she's just decided to dye it blonder because it hides the greys better. It's quite a common thing women do in their 40s.

I agree - perhaps she has had the greys coming through and coupled with the change in skin tone in the 40s may be going down this road

Yes, as irritating as "rediculous" and the frequent misuse of "literally".

She's HRH The Princess of Wales.

Catherine, Princess of Wales suggests she's divorced, like her MIL when she was styled that way.

Ezzee · 04/09/2025 14:42

I think its a very beautifully made hair piece.
I also think she looks fab for all she's been through and she is very classy, also who cares as long as this young woman is healthy and happy.

She’s just The Princess of Wales. The use of first name-comma-title without definite article is a post divorce styling. Hence Diana went from The Princess of Wales to Diana, Princess of Wales, and The Duchess of York to Sarah, Duchess of York.

How about Madeleine of Sweden?

She looks like Sarah Chalke, who played Kate Mularkey in Firefly Lane.

X post with @ARichtGoodDram

lessglittermoremud · 04/09/2025 14:44

I’m in my early 40s and many of my friends have gone lighter now they have grey hair coming through, it’s less maintenance then colouring their hair a darker colour.
Im lucky enough that I naturally have a lot of highlights because of being very blonde as a child, so even though it’s more of light brown now, sunshine picks out the still lighter parts, it hides the grey!

PinkCherryPie · 04/09/2025 14:46

As a wig wearer, I don't think it is a wig, I can usually spot one a mile away.
But it doesn't really matter if it is. She can wear her hair (or non-bio hair) however she likes and I'm not going to judge.

ishimbob · 04/09/2025 14:47

We still call Anne Boleyn by her maiden name too...

OrangePieHigh · 04/09/2025 14:47

I think Charlotte has given her mum and dad a glow up during the summer holidays!

Sad isn't it? She is a person with ability and talent and ideas.

Sad? a sad wig? as opposed to a happy wig?

justasking111 · 04/09/2025 14:50

Queen Mary Denmark and Queen Leticia Spain have long hair, both older than Catherine.

Are we expected to cut it off when we're past our perceived sell by date?

gamerchick · 04/09/2025 14:52

YABU for posting this here and not the board set up for it.
