Is Kate Middleton wearing a blonde WIG?

Saw pictures today of Catherine, The Princess of Wales at the Natural History Museum.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-15064693/Princess-Wales-natural-history-museum-return-work-summer.html

I’m glad to see her back to work and looking happy. I’m also stunned by how different her hair looks. I always admired her amazing brown hair, so the blonde is quite the shock. Maybe it’s the wind and the rain creating the effect, but it almost looks like she is wearing a wig?

Just to clarify, I understand she went through cancer treatment and that can affect the hair in many ways. If she is wearing a wig, I really really don’t see a problem with it. If anything, it would be such a boon to cancer patients and people with alopecia etc who do wear wigs frequently. They could see that even wearing a wig you could look as fabulous as Kate.

Either way what is your verdict, wig or her own hair? Does the blonde suit her or do you prefer her as a brunette?

For the Vote:
You are being unreasonable, Kate's hair is all her own.
You are NOT being unreasonable, it's defiantly a wig.

Also as a side note I love her outfit.

Good Heir Day! Kate returns to duties with blonde post-holiday hair

The Princess of Wales joined her husband Prince William to visit the Natural History Museum in London today as they returned to duties after their summer break.

I think if we stopped constantly going on about other women's appearances then it might go some way towards helping women not constantly get judged on their appearances.

👏👏 well said. I would like to make one comment though - she’s gorgeous, awesome and brave.

I’m sorry but I’ve never heard “syrup” used in this context. What does that mean?

fwiw I think she looks great and if it is a wig or anything else it’s none of my business.

It's cockney rhyming slang, I was using it ironically. Syrup of fig- wig. 😂

Catwalking · 04/09/2025 14:54

why does it matter…

Well it's not blonde is it. It's just a slightly mousier shade of brown than usual. It's amazing how someone who is deliberately as bland as possible style wise can generate so much discussion about fashion.

That shade of green is awful on you.

I think so too. She's so much more than her hair and these posts infuriate me.

JustPassingThyme · 04/09/2025 14:58

If she is using the lighter colour to cover up greys, I think that is a shame. Why can her husband, who is the same age as her, be allowed to have a few grey hairs but not her? It would be nice to see an undeniably stylish woman in the public eye going naturally grey. I think one of the chicest hair styles on older women is a long grey bob, so elegant. It's what I plan to do when I go grey.

I’m not saying Kate should be the one to not cover her grey. Of course she can do what she likes with her hair. She seems happy with her current hair colour and clearly has always liked having long hair.

Personally, I have always admired that Kate hasn’t gone down the Botox/filler/face lift route like other women in the public eye. Not that there is anything wrong with doing what you like to your own face, it’s just good to see a woman ageing naturally.

Regarding the defiantly vs definitely thing, I have dyslexia, but will defiantly continue on writing even though I will definitely make more spelling mistakes.

Well, she’s always had a head full of extensions. I don’t think the new colour suits her.

Superhansrantowindsor · 04/09/2025 15:00

I’m sure she’s allowed grey hair but like a lot of women- including me- she would rather dye it.

littlebilliie · 04/09/2025 15:01

After being through any chemo your hair will become brittle or fall out. I think it’s great she is embracing wearing a wig. It’s a very good quality, we need to normalise wig wearing

sanityisamyth · 04/09/2025 15:03

Defiantly?! I don’t think she’s being particularly defiant.

doublec · 04/09/2025 15:03

Not a wig but wonder if the blonde is to disguise the grey. She's undergone chemo and while she seemingly kept her hair, it can cause the hair to lose its pigment*. Going blonde like this is more low maintenance than trying to keep her original glossy brunette. It's also quite common for women to lighten their hair as they age as it's more flattering than dark(er) hair.

*I say this as someone who lost most of their hair due to chemo and the bits that I kept did turn white/silver/grey whereas the hair that regrew was more or less the same dark brown I had originally.

LizzieSiddal · 04/09/2025 14:12

Whatever it is, it’s far too long. Needs to be at least 6 inches shorter.

It doesn’t ‘need’ to be anything other than what she wants.

Millytante · 04/09/2025 15:06

Oh wow; I’m immensely fond of her, even admire her, and can’t imagine how difficult things have been, God love her, so this isn’t sniping BUT……cripes I loathe this Disney princess hair mania everywhere. (I thought the same re the recent thread about Amal Clooney)
I’d really love to see Kate chop a good twelve inches off that lot. (Not keen on the blonde against the colours she likes to wear, but maybe it’s giving her a boost)
Dissecting her appearance isn’t ever kind or helpful, so this is a secret impression I’m only whispering, you understand.
I guiltily admit I flinch at extravagant long hair on adult women. I know it’s an unacceptable reaction, and I can’t think of a single defence.
I’m not one who thinks a woman must get a shortish bob at forty, but somehow there’s long hair, and there’s ‘wrong’ long hair!

Angela Rayner’s hairdo for example always looks illogical to me paired with her persona. (When she’s curled it, it’s even more so)
With Amal C, it seems like a beauty indulgence too far, knocking off a few IQ points (which absolutely isn’t the case.)

I can’t pinpoint why I do this, and God knows I really adore a head of long wild hair on many an over 40, even over 70, woman.
But often, it’s as though the barnet counteracts some important element of the woman, resulting in what might be called a visual oxymoron.
It doesn’t look right, in some bonkers, indefensible universe of judgmental nonsense. Jarring.
It’s entirely the subject’s business and her pleasure, and the likes of me are very, very out of order. (But I still dislike it! 🤫)

Bathingforest · 04/09/2025 15:06

It's just hair dye, dear.

On another account, it doesn't suit her, unless she decided to start going blonde grey as the majority of British ladies do after they've had enough touching the roots

Itstwelveoclocksomewhere · 04/09/2025 15:06

A wig/hair extensions for sure.

I don’t understand why women put in these long hair pieces. I don’t thinks it’s just a UK thing but it certainly seems more popular. Most of the Love Island contestants seemed to have them.

My2cents1975 · 04/09/2025 15:07

The usual suspects are viciously promoting the usual messaging. The so-called "sisterhood" focused on attacking Catherine's hair and insisting on a narrative based on zero evidence or knowledge.

Anyone who has watched the movie "Good Hair" by Chris Rock, will understand why it is imperative for some to denigrate Catherine's hair. Below is a link to an extract.

100% that is a syrup, a very nice one. But it looks way to full and bouncy and the hairline...

Nothing wrong with wearing wigs. But if she was asked I'd hope she'd tell the truth. As lots of women do look up to her and her style.

How dismal your post is, when a woman loses hair her confidence goes.

all my friends are kind and supportive when I wear a wig. We should celebrate that she looks fabulous with all she has gone through.

I bet she looks a lot better than the majority of people who criticize her appearance.
Also, William looks very handsome here. He definitely suits a beard.

LhudeSingCuccu · 04/09/2025 14:28

Do you really think people would refer to her as this on a chat forum? It’s not the court circular.

People could say Catherine or the PoW or whatever but deliberately using her maiden name when they’ve been married for 14 years or so is rude and dim.

Lampzade · 04/09/2025 15:10

It looks like a half wig.
Kate has been wearing wigs for a number of years .
The colour doesn’t do her any favours .

I said it was nice and there was nothing wrong with wearing a wig.

What is dismal about replying to an OP asking if we believe she's wearing one and me saying I do?

SnarkyMintWren · 04/09/2025 15:10

Just be honest about this woman for once, without any disclaimers or self-deprecating comments and say it doesn’t look good. You will not die.

Lighteningstrikes · 04/09/2025 15:11

Does it matter.

She looks beautiful (as always).

You must know that brunettes often go for lighter blonde shades as they get older to blend in with their skin tone.
