Is Kate Middleton wearing a blonde WIG?

Saw pictures today of Catherine, The Princess of Wales at the Natural History Museum.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-15064693/Princess-Wales-natural-history-museum-return-work-summer.html

I’m glad to see her back to work and looking happy. I’m also stunned by how different her hair looks. I always admired her amazing brown hair, so the blonde is quite the shock. Maybe it’s the wind and the rain creating the effect, but it almost looks like she is wearing a wig?

Just to clarify, I understand she went through cancer treatment and that can affect the hair in many ways. If she is wearing a wig, I really really don’t see a problem with it. If anything, it would be such a boon to cancer patients and people with alopecia etc who do wear wigs frequently. They could see that even wearing a wig you could look as fabulous as Kate.

Either way what is your verdict, wig or her own hair? Does the blonde suit her or do you prefer her as a brunette?

For the Vote:
You are being unreasonable, Kate's hair is all her own.
You are NOT being unreasonable, it's defiantly a wig.

Also as a side note I love her outfit.

Good Heir Day! Kate returns to duties with blonde post-holiday hair

The Princess of Wales joined her husband Prince William to visit the Natural History Museum in London today as they returned to duties after their summer break.

Perhaps she’s being defiant by wearing a wig ? I don’t think it’s a wig.

She looks better with dark hair I think. This ages her.

I think the idea that men improve with age is a myth dreamed up by men to make themselves feel better.

However, William has definitely been looking better in his 40s. He was extremely handsome as a very young man, but losing his hair really impacted on his attractiveness. Now he seems to be growing into his looks again. The beard suits him, and I rarely say that about any man!

Pretty much what I think. Very handsome as a young man/pretty almost, and then seemed to lose his looks a bit when he lost some of his hair in his 30s (I feel awful saying that!) but then in his 40s he seems to be really attractive again! He has found his signature look as a middle aged man, and he looks great.

But yeah, it is a myth that men age better than women. More women I know in their 50s and 60s look good compared to the men I know in the same age group.

Kate is just really attractive! Lovely smile, lovely face, and tall and elegant! 😍

100% that is a syrup, a very nice one. But it looks way to full and bouncy and the hairline...

Nothing wrong with wearing wigs. But if she was asked I'd hope she'd tell the truth. As lots of women do look up to her and her style.

She would have had it blow dried before she went out.

SlaveToFelines · 04/09/2025 14:27

This is definitely a topper/half wig plus extensions. You can see it in photo 12 and a couple of others in that Daily Mail article. Not that I’m shaming or judging Kate, it’s her own business and as someone who has alopecia and who actually likes her I say fair play.

What would have made it look less obvious is a few strokes of a wax stick on the top part to flatten it slightly and maybe wax or hair spray to keep the back part blended.

I reckon she's just decided to dye it blonder because it hides the greys better. It's quite a common thing women do in their 40s.

This.

It might be ageing, but she is ageing and it’s less ageing that grey so some of us have to just live with going blonder than we might otherwise have chosen if we don’t want to go grey / have an unreasonable amount of upkeep.

Tippexy · 04/09/2025 14:27

She has been wearing extensions for years, but they are getting silly now.

It looks better darker

And tbh she'd look a load better if she gained some weight

Look a load better to who? Who does she have to look better for?

Hiptothisjive · 04/09/2025 14:27

Who’s Kate Middleton? If you mean Catherine, Princess of Wales then so what. The girl changed her hair, it’s called hair dye, hair extensions and styling. We have all changed our hair colour I’m sure. Leave it alone.

Calliopespa · 04/09/2025 14:28

It just looks to me as though its been dyed and slightly back-combed. The latter effect will have washed out that night in the shower and the former is hardly newsworthy.

Do you really think people would refer to her as this on a chat forum? It’s not the court circular.

ThatCyanCat · 04/09/2025 14:28

She's a very beautiful woman. I think the darker hair suited her better.

raisingthebarbell · 04/09/2025 14:28

Hardly blond - looks like lots of 40 something women trying to hide/blend their greys with balayage. Personally think she looks better darker but as a 40 something Woman trying to hide/blend her grey with balayage I completely sympathise & remove all judgement.

PosiePetal · 04/09/2025 14:29

I think she's gone 'bronde' with some blonde highlights.

I don't think it is a wig.

I do hope she is doing well.

PluirinSneachta · 04/09/2025 14:29

I think it’s hair extensions. I personally think they look dreadful, and very old fashioned, but obviously that’s what she likes.

Sad isn't it? She is a person with ability and talent and ideas.

She might be, but she’s also chosen to be part of a family who believe they’re in charge because God says so, and the British public gets to pay for them to do so. She (and the rest of them) put themselves up for scrutiny.

Yeah as a young man he was like a male version of Diana. The exact same face, smile and demeanour.

Don't feel awful about saying losing his hair impacted on his looks! Some men can carry off the bald look but William is or wasn't one of them. Now he seems to have passed his 'awkward' phase and his 40s really suit him! Being tall and fit helps of course.

Kate is also ageing really well. Not that 44 is old or anything like that!

And it was her actual name. I don’t know why is so very insulting.

Wax stick is a product specifically for hair, be it wigs, extensions or a persons own hair. People often use it to help wigs lay flatter or on their own hair, depending on the texture of hair and style being done. Hope this helps!
