The royal family

Why is Sarah Ferguson at the Easter service?

I am really perplexed about why SF attends all Royal events since the death of the Queen when Andrew
is present. She behaves like his wife but she isn’t his wife. What on earth is going on? I cannot think of another situation like this where an ex wife lives with her ex husband and attends all public events with him as though they are still married. It’s bizarre.

It’s the Royal Family. They make it up as they go along 🤷‍♀️

Bramble25 · 20/04/2025 22:33

I guess it’s more as the mother of Beatrice and Eugenie if they were there?

They aren’t children though! Why doesn’t SF get a life of her own?

She has no money.

Cynic17 · 20/04/2025 22:36

Because she and Andrew live together, so the kind thing to do is to invite her with him. I think it's quite sweet that the King and Queen want to include her. They are probably hugely grateful that she sticks around to support her ex, tbh.

She knows too much . Keep your friends close ....

qwertyasdfgzxcv · 20/04/2025 22:41

if they live together are the a couple?

I think when you are that rich it is possible to live together and rarely be together. It’s not like us plebs in our tiny houses.

Maddy70 · 20/04/2025 22:47

They clearly had to get divorced because she had an affair but they are still living together and living as a couple. It's the worst kept secret

It is a unique situation because their situation is unusual. How many divorced people do you know that live together? Obviously their house is hardly like your average one, but still I think he relies on her heavily and I do think there is an element of gratitude involved, like when it was reported that Charles had asked Sarah to persuade Andrew to sit out of the event at Christmas. He's a difficult character and she helps keep him in check.

She's a loyal subject, never slags off the RF and continues to do her duty (brown noses) and is rewarded for her loyalty.

I agree, she probably knows too much, too. The late queen was reportedly very fond of her.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 20/04/2025 22:50

I am more bothered that William, who will be the next head of the Church, couldn’t be arsed showing up in one of the major religious festivals.

Starseeking · 20/04/2025 22:51

They are probably back together in all but name.

Neither Prince Philip or the Queen would countenance Fergie being seen in the presence of the RF following toegate back in the nineties, but the rest of the family are clearly more relaxed about her spending time with them publicly. Presumably she also helps to “manage” the Andrew situation.

Redglitter · 20/04/2025 22:53

Because they're basically still a couple. She was barred from anything like this when Prince Phillip was alive but Charles is more relaxed.

If it wasn't for the fact Andrew is such s fucking disaster I think they'd have remarried.

She took in QE corgis after her death so clearly she'd forgiven her

I don’t think so. He looks very disconnected from her and their body language doesn’t suggest they are a couple. It’s just all so odd.

Why does it matter she was there?

BESTAUNTB · 20/04/2025 23:01

I guess they’re a couple and she’s there in that capacity. It’s said that he didn’t want to divorce in the first place.

I reckon the extended family is fond of her and that she acts as a mediator between her partner and his brother. And yes, she probably has some tea to spill about that dysfunctional bunch, and is famously skint, so is best kept onside.

mustytrusty · 20/04/2025 23:03

Maybe they've learned from Diana that ostracising ex-wives who are the mothers of members of the Royal Family makes them look like shitheads if things go tits up?

The man reportedly has teddy bears that have certain places and berates staff if they're out of place - he is odd.

I think she's his minder, make sure his eyes and hands don't wander when the press is around.

I'm not sure it's her that needs to get her own life.... why do you care what events she's at and which she isn't?

comedycentral · 20/04/2025 23:13

Are her girls in attendance? It's pretty normal for families to attend events together, even in adulthood.

HonoriaBulstrode · 20/04/2025 23:17

Why doesn’t SF get a life of her own?

This was a couple of hours on one day in the year. She presumably does live her own life on the other 364 days.

Other churches are available. You don't know that William didn't go to church elsewhere, or attend a private service somewhere.
