The royal family

Why is Sarah Ferguson at the Easter service?

I am really perplexed about why SF attends all Royal events since the death of the Queen when Andrew
is present. She behaves like his wife but she isn’t his wife. What on earth is going on? I cannot think of another situation like this where an ex wife lives with her ex husband and attends all public events with him as though they are still married. It’s bizarre.

I think Sarah Ferguson went out of her way to remain on the best terms she could with the Royals didn't she?

She's been more formally/publicly welcomed back into the fold since phillip died definitely

HufflebuffsAreOn · 20/04/2025 23:22

Andrew shouldn’t have been there, never mind Fergie. Where was William? He should be there - lazy, entitled vibes, that one.

I'm not sure it's her that needs to get her own life.... why do you care what events she's at and which she isn't?

She's attending church with her daughters, it us her life

BESTAUNTB · 20/04/2025 23:23

I think that they’re a couple but if they aren’t I think it’s good that they’re doing stuff together when their (grand)children are present. It’s nice.

I am not pro-royal/aristocracy but something they often do well as a class is staying friendly after separating (eg Anne and Camilla get on with their ex husbands). Diana was an obvious exception but even she had become cordial with Charles by the mid-1990s and had she lived I reckon she’d have married some insipid Hooray and they’d have been present at things like the queen’s funeral and the York sisters’ weddings. But who knows.

Sarah burnt a lot of bridges with other members of the RF during/after the divorce but it appears some of them have been mended in recent years. She was walking out of the church arm in arm with the Duchess of Edinburgh. Maybe with the Queen / Philip's death and the cancer diagnoses they have put the past behind them.

I dont think Sarah is necessairly a bad person, and I think she was treated unfairly by Prince Philip and the British tabloids. Yes she made huge errors of judgement but none of it was malicious, quite simply her personality was never suited to being a dutiful royal wife.

mathanxiety · 20/04/2025 23:35

I reckon she fills the role of rodeo clown at these events.

I agree, she comes across a bit bonkers tbh (in a nice way). Although she also comes across as very much a royal sycophant, which makes my skin crawl a bit

I am more bothered that William, who will be the next head of the Church, couldn’t be arsed showing up in one of the major religious festivals.

Poor, I agree. It's the Christian festival of the year. Three holidays already as well. If William has no belief in God or Jesus at all, it's going go be tricky for him when he becomes head of the Church of England.

sofasoda · 21/04/2025 00:09

She has no money.

What about his dodgy money?

You do realise that the Easter service at Windsor is a private family service and not a state occasion, don't you? William has only attended a few of the services in the past, because it is not an official duty but an optional get together of extended family. Charles pretty much never attended when he was POW. William's spending Easter with his wife and kids. Hopefully having a nicer one than last year, when they had to tell their children that mum had cancer and she started chemo. Hopefully they are putting the memories of last year behind them.

sofasoda · 21/04/2025 00:12

Other churches are available. You don't know that William didn't go to church elsewhere, or attend a private service somewhere.

There would be photos if so.

I don't care if they go to church or not but the above is a weird excuse.

FancyRedRobin · 21/04/2025 00:21

Prince William honestly doesn't look great currently, he's lost a lot of weight. I'm not surprised he's keeping close to home.
Who knows how his health is and there have been so many crises recently in the family.

I didn't make an excuse. And neither has he, as far as I am aware. I made a statement about where he is and expressed my hope they are having a nicer time than last year.

sofasoda · 21/04/2025 00:26

Why are people acting like they haven't just been skiing? So they have had family time and skiing is fairly strenuous so health can't be too much of a concern...

Didn't Charles skip 15(?) years of Easter services at Windsor to spend with Camilla at Highgrove.

Anyway you don't know that William didn't attend a service - they may have gone to church in the Sandringham area if they were at Anmer

Needspaceforlego · 21/04/2025 00:33

I'd thought for ages they'd remarry at some point but I just don't think it's ever been the right time. (ill feeling from PP then the Epstein stuff)

All the cancer treatments over the last year, Sarah, Kate and Charles has probably brought all of them much closer together.

There are a surprising number of divorced couples out there who, seem to get on better not being married.

Not matter what stupid stuff either Sarah or Andrew have done they have never spoken badly of the RF or complained about how they are treated.

I just find it really odd and wonder about it that’s all.

Really? 🤔

If that's were the case some photos would be realised as the DM readers are not happy!

Lunde · 21/04/2025 00:39

I mean SF has always been around the RF - just not seen in public with them. She usually stayed in cottages on the Sandringham/Balmoral estates.

Who are you to decide who is allowed to go to Church or not? God?

Why is Sarah Ferguson at the Easter service?

😆😆 Is that the worst sin then? speaking badly of your family?

I didn't say it was the worse.
But they've never disrespected others privacy. Discussed other mens private parts. Or moaned about tax payers paying or not paying their security

sofasoda · 21/04/2025 00:49

Yeah I think the whole Epstein thing, the mysterious money, dreadful interview, toe sucking gate are sf the very least on par with slagging off relatives.
