The royal family

Why is Sarah Ferguson at the Easter service?

I am really perplexed about why SF attends all Royal events since the death of the Queen when Andrew
is present. She behaves like his wife but she isn’t his wife. What on earth is going on? I cannot think of another situation like this where an ex wife lives with her ex husband and attends all public events with him as though they are still married. It’s bizarre.

I am more bothered that William, who will be the next head of the Church, couldn’t be arsed showing up in one of the major religious festivals.

I’m not a william basher but that is really very odd.

And skiing might have taken its toll on the PoW so that she needs to rest??? Is that beyond the realms of compassion?!

Why does her resting mean William can't go to church? he managed to get to the footie. Just engage the brain...

Engage your own brain. He might want to, you know, support and look after his wife and children???

There are only so many boundaries he can set before people ask what the point of him is though.

I think that's already happening, there is only so long that the panto villains H&M can be a distraction.

I have always got the impression Kate was never all that enthuastic on public life. Even before the cancer diagnosis she only did the bare minimum in terms of engagements but used the excuse of young children. Not sure if that will wash any more.

DrPrunesqualer · 21/04/2025 01:44

@Tomatotater

Henry viii made himself head of the Catholic Church in England though. He remained Catholic till death, he just didn’t accept the Pope as the Head.

The Church of England evolved after with his son Edward, who was brought up Protestant, came to the thrown.

So Henry being divorced never was a Church of England thing

It's actually not "really odd" - how often did Charles attend the Easter service prior to his mother's death?

Maybe they should schedule their holidays to not conflict with major religious holidays??

I say that as an atheist. He’s soon going to be head of the church. Step up.

Is it something that you would welcome as a mother of young children? I think she has been quietly building up her legacy, with her early years and her Christmas event?

sofasoda · 21/04/2025 01:46

How does a few hours at church prevent this? Why is it so difficult for you to fathom that he just might not care about going?

Agree. He will be head of the church.
Cant imagine the Pope finds other things that are more important to do at Easter. Or any Sunday tbh,

Why is he expected to do what his father didn't?

Is this sarcasm? I can't actually tell.

He established himself as head of the Protestant church!!

You don't need to be able to tell. I have your measure.

sofasoda · 21/04/2025 01:51

He might not want to?

So you agree with me then?!

Why is he expected to do what his father didn't?

I don't care if he goes to Church or not, I already said he's not religious. I just made the point that I don't think he skipped it because Kate's ill & he is juggling housework & homework with 3dc.

Everyone has yours!

Would they be able to fit them all in? 😆

No
He didn’t

He was Catholic till death and established himself as head of The Catholic Church in England

The liturgy remained the same.
Even now if you attend the high Church of England they pray for the Catholic Church. Even at the Coronation of every king and Queen of England in history ( including Charles ) we pray for the Catholic Church.

It was only with Edward, who was brought up Protestant because of his mothers family, that Protestantism was accepted in England. Until Edward they were persecuted here.

Henry was never a Protestant

sofasoda · 21/04/2025 01:55

The Queen (who I did grow to respect) was absolutely right that the Royals need to be seen

The majority of parents with young children have to work, turning up to a few nurseries / creches and organising a Christmas carol service, and few other engagements (mostly vanity e.g Wimbledon) does not amount to dedication to public service.

sofasoda · 21/04/2025 01:57

Was the early years work the stuff that took years to tel us what we already knew?

Yep keep H&M in the tabloids to take the attention to what W&K are doing, not alot!

In 1534, Henry VIII declared himself supreme head of the church of England lol!

Catherine took her time to investigate and establish her work unlike that head the ball Meghan Markle who just dives right in!
