Hi everyone! As suggested on another thread, I’m starting this to provide some balance to the MM / MS threads which have been perceived as bullying and not joyful.

So please feel free to join in and share something pleasant and joyful about your day or any comments about MM / MS as an antidote if the other threads have caused you upset. Please be nice!

I’ll begin by saying that writing notes by hand is a lovely thing to do, and conveys sincerity beyond any effusive email or text message. And nice handwriting is a bonus! Hand cramp is a problem of the digital age.

Also, I’ve watched two episodes of the series now, and I love the garden plants in California. Waiting for the spring to bloom here!

I forgot to add that this thread especially welcomes all the posters who may feel like they’re being outnumbered in the other MM / MS threads. Be free to bloom here, and share the joy!

please refrain from overly personal criticisms of posters that do not necessarily share your views. Thank you :)

"Hand cramp is a problem of the digital age"? You never had to do any handwritten essay exams, I'm guessing?

Hoppinggreen · 21/03/2025 15:14

I have no issue with her at all.
She is an actress by trade and her new series is her playing a role, thats all
Anyone who doubts the authenticity has forgotten that, its not authentic and was never meant to be. Its just entertainment.
She is rebagging pretzels not murdering kittens!

mynameisausername · 21/03/2025 15:14

thanks OP, I am sad that so many people who don't know and have never met the woman have so much vitriol to throw at her.

I like MM, I think she seems like a decent person!

DaphneduM · 21/03/2025 15:17

I think Meghan is lovely - very talented, creative, kind and of course beautiful. I really enjoyed watching With Love Meghan - harmless, escapist entertainment with some interesting fashions thrown in! And of course Guy, looking cute in his basket in the kitchen.

I have written many essays in my time. It might be telling of my age, but I remember being excited when I reached the school year whereby we all transitioned from pencil to ballpoint / biro pens, and even had an extra period each week using fountain pens!

Emailing and typing documents don’t use the same hand muscles! I’m sure my colouring-in stamina was way better in school.

I haven't seen it as I'm not interested in those kinds of shows. I don't know her so can't comment on her character.

I think the vitriol expressed about Harry and Meghan is ridiculous. There are a lot of weird fanatics around. I think she was stalked and has had death threats following her series.

I hope she's thriving and safe.

MyWiseGoose · 21/03/2025 15:23

If she's such a nice person why are there reports of her being a massive bully both in the UK and the US? I can't muster to say anything nice about a bully, sorry.

I can never fully discern between vitriol or jibing that comes across a bit stronger because it’s on a screen rather than said out loud? I’ve read most of the other threads and even commented on several. I think both sides have some interesting views that I have been able to accept. Of course, there will be extremes but some it feels like many of the posters are actually quite balanced and factual.

I just enjoyed seeing a cross section of the opinions. I did find the two episodes to be quite easy to watch in the background, and loved the scenery.

@MonteShitshow - a nice thread about Meghan… well that’s a first 🙂. I personally find it very bizarre the hatred people have towards her - considering they don’t know her. Weird at best. I have also read somewhere people saying things like her kids aren’t hers or they don’t exist. It’s really mind boggling.

I have watched the show and I liked it! It has inspired me to grow a lemon tree in my back garden and some herbs as well. I did a charcuterie board the other day as well! Why not. Everyone seemed to like it and my husband said it looked nice.

I also think that you can just take what you like and scroll past what you don’t - you don’t need to be negative or insult: there are real people on the other end so remember that.

yummyscummymummy01 · 21/03/2025 15:27

I suspect that she's probably a bit annoying but really doesn't deserve the vitriol she gets. I find some of comments on here about her completely batshit!

MonteShitshow · 21/03/2025 15:29

Oh my, sorry, I didn’t mean this to be a thread claiming that MM / MS is nice and pleasant necessarily! I just thought that the people who didn’t like the other threads should have a nice and pleasant thread to post their thoughts on MM / MS! Sorry if I phrased the title badly!

I don’t know her at all; I take reports in the media with a big pinch of salt but I also know that there’s rarely smoke without a fire.

This thread however, should be somewhere posters can all say what they enjoyed about the series etc without having to start a quarrel.

I actually don't really give a damn about her (or any of the rest of the royals) but I do find the vitriol against her insane. I wondered how long it would take for someone to start laying in to her though (8 posts) because some people seem to take a perverse joy at hating somebody that they know nothing about except third hand gossip from people who have only an interest in themselves in the first place. Are people's lives really so empty that they have nothing better to do than be consumed by rage about someone they have never met?

I know! I’m clearly rubbish at starting new threads. Nevertheless, at least I’ve done my bit to ensure that there’s a neutral (bordering on slightly positive) place for anyone who would like one. Hoping that the posters from the thread about the handwritten note will see this and move over here instead.

Extiainoiapeial · 21/03/2025 15:52

I liked some of the show and said so on the other thread.

Not all of it but when I watch programmes like this, I often fast forward through the bits that don't interest me. However, I liked looking at how she presented food... I have lots of big platters and rarely use them, and I'm going to get them out and use them more, especially when friends come round.

I liked most of the clothes she wore in the series, but she shouldn't get any thinner (just my opinion). The gardens and views were fab.

I think she has a soft melodious voice and that came across well in the series.
I also thought that she started off nervous but got more into it as time went on.

The three women together for girls night reminded me of the three females in White Lotus! I bet two of the three talk about the other one when not all together!

I've got some lemons picked off a tree and I've rehydrated citrus before and I'm going to do it again. It really intensifies the flavour and is great in cocktails or gin and tonic.

I think Meghan has an uphill battle to win anyone over who doesn't like her, but that's fine, I doubt they are her target audience.
I hope it works for her.

I think it’s nice that you have started a thread to be positive. Thank you. 😀 I still think people should continue to challenge when they see unfair posts about Meghan on other threads. It’s not a case of using a thread like this to shut people down on other threads where they should rightly challenge obsessive bullying.

Anyway, my positive contribution, I’ve recently rewatched Suits and she’s clearly a talented actor. I like the fact that before she met Harry, she was a strong successful woman, who had done her own charity work. I think she has shown a lot of class in how she has dealt with the negative press coverage including criticism from her own family members. That must have been unimaginably difficult so all credit to her. I would have liked Harry and Meghan to remain as working royals as I think they had a lot to offer.

MrsSunshine2b · 21/03/2025 16:10

The show isn't really my thing but she seems like a nice, kind person.

Samcro · 21/03/2025 16:11

thank you @MonteShitshow and good luck.
I have not watched her show as its not my thing. did watch suits though. donna was my fave.

I loved Donna! Such a good character!

MonteShitshow · 21/03/2025 16:29

I remember Donna the most clearly and liked her too, but I don’t believe I finished the series. I also liked the angry boss!

I do agree that unfairness should be challenged. But to see a thread consisting of so much irritation and squabbling, why not go to a different thread and be able to say what you like and then get on with the rest of your day? It must get someone down to make a comment and then be told off by multiple other strangers (whether they’re a supporter or non-supporter).

@Extiainoiapeial i haven’t reached that episode, but I love a big platter. It doesn’t all have to be covered in food 😬 the honey lemon cake was pretty. In fact I think it was beautiful on the outside more than the inside. I make honey lemon loaf cake but I think I’ll try a buttercream version next time.

I did get some nice ideas from what I have seen so far. I would have rated it more highly had it not been a surreptitious long advertisement though, I would not have known this had I not read the other threads.

I think she seems like a good person who has had a disproportionately bad press from the tabloids.

I'm not sure she knew what she was getting into with our royal family, and they gave her no real support so I don't blame her and Harry for emigrating to the US. It was the only thing they could have done really.

Extiainoiapeial · 21/03/2025 16:45

It didn't affect my viewing because there is no way I would buy anything from a show like this. Primarily because I am up to my ears in everything I could ever want like that but I wouldn't anyway. I used to have friends round a lot but I've toned it down a bit now as I've got older.

Lifestooshort71 · 21/03/2025 17:11

I'm vaguely fascinated by her in a Real Housewives of Montecito way - I think she'd be brilliant in one of the RH shows as her life does seem like a soap opera. I admire the way she keeps on going (despite all the adverse reactions to her endeavours) and respect the fact that she's doing what she can to put money in the pot. She's like a rubber ball that just keeps on bouncing back up 👏 👏

Samcro · 21/03/2025 17:11

I personally think it’s important that people call out online bullying.
Meghan seems ok to me. I like her and Harry, as much as you can when you don’t know them. They have made mistakes, but they are human.

Yes, it’s absolutely right that Meghan's bullying was called out. She most certainly isn’t a nice person.
