A genuinely nice and friendly thread about Meghan

Hi everyone! As suggested on another thread, I’m starting this to provide some balance to the MM / MS threads which have been perceived as bullying and not joyful.

So please feel free to join in and share something pleasant and joyful about your day or any comments about MM / MS as an antidote if the other threads have caused you upset. Please be nice!

I’ll begin by saying that writing notes by hand is a lovely thing to do, and conveys sincerity beyond any effusive email or text message. And nice handwriting is a bonus! Hand cramp is a problem of the digital age.

Also, I’ve watched two episodes of the series now, and I love the garden plants in California. Waiting for the spring to bloom here!

It was quite light-hearted and I was just thinking of transferring my sweet-salty popcorn (storebought) into little air tight jars while reading @SoExhaustedTonight’s comment and then poof, lots of heavy psychology theory!

I find psychology very interesting when there are real life characters as examples of the theory, but I guess nobody will truly know what lies behind Meghan’s lively and cheery facade. And it’s not our right to know, even though she is a public character. So the discussion here is based on our perception… I don’t think anyone is trying to diagnose for real. In any case, I often learn a lot by reading what you all write, particularly if related to your line of work. I might even occasionally google theories that have been mentioned!

Thank you everyone for contributing your thoughts :) even if it leads to disagreement, at least if you’ve put it here, it might stop taking up valuable headspace!

Keep joyful, I hope you all have a sunny weekend. I will try to use my bee voice if I see any 🐝🌸

Buckingham Palace launched an internal review into the bullying claims, but the findings were never made public. Meghan has always denied them and as far as I know, there are no bullying claims from Suits or other jobs before she married.

Are you dismissing the lived experiences of each of these individual victims who provided their personal testimonies to 4 separate, independent and credible investigations in both US and UK workplaces? Why would you choose to do that? As you can see I consciously didnt even bring the BP investigation into it as it wasnt published - doesnt mean she is innocent or guilty. The other four extensive investigations tell us all we need to know.

Also the director of the Reitmans commerial whom she worked with in Canada (before she met Prince Harry) went on record to say she was the meanest person he had ever met.

Agree that on the set of Suits which was her huge career breakthrough and where she was way down the actor pecking order - she behaved herself impeccably otherwise she would have been out of a job.

In a position of power she has been seen to behave otherwise to the little people.

Not true I’m afraid, Jean Malek, one of the directors of the Reitmans advert she appeared in before she met Harry posted on Facebook "She is definitely the meanest person I've ever met. Just saying."

She definitely has form.

Genuinely sad that people can't help themselves.

The OP set out to create ONE space to say nice, supportive things about a much-maligned woman and the shrews just can't think "you know what, I'll sit this one out".

So, to try and bring it back to some positivity - I really like MM and Prince Harry. They both seem like decent people, who wisely took themselves off to try and have a life of their own. I hope they succeed in everything they do and are very happy doing it.

I seem to have drawn out the fanatics. I couldn't care less about Meghan's bullying claims.

I'm always surprised that members of this forum have so much time to dedicate to research people they don't know and will never meet. Reams and reams about the minutae of stranger's lives.

I'm not going to get drawn into some sad exchange on Meghan Markle and what the gutter press have to say about her. I think the way she was chased out of the country is shameful.

It seems that even on a thread which is meant to be positive, you and your chums want to rehash crap you've been posting for years. It's Friday night, have a night off.

MrsEverest · 21/03/2025 20:17

I have no idea what she’s like as we’ve never met and I see very little about her outside of MN as I don’t bother with The Daily Mail.

I find the absolutely constant vitriol, thread after thread after thread, about this woman who is actually very easy to ignore if you loathe her (if you’re the sort of person who can loathe an actual stranger) appalling. The thread volume alone is disgusting.

At some point MN is going to be forced to actually open their eyes and ask ‘why this woman in particular, what is it about this particular woman that warrants such an absolute torrent of vitriol, far more than any actual criminal or abuser?’ This is not a question that any of the posters who hate a stranger but cannot stop seeking out information about her and posting nasty comments about her will ever ask themselves. There is zero insight or reflection.

Nope not gutter press - VF & HR are the revered industry bibles for the entertainment industry.

Also not rehashed for years - the VF investigation was only published last month and the HR expose was reported not even 6 months ago - so all very current for those victims.

Seems its an inconvenient truth for some.

Sadly it is always the case. No one is allowed to be positive about Meghan on here.
im not sure this thread was set up to be as positive as it sounds.

DeirdreDarling · 21/03/2025 20:21

She's a multifaceted individual with many pros and cons. I have no issue with any positivity - but I will step in to evidence untruths.

But you don't know what the truth is! And the fact that you think you do is a bit embarrassing.

“They hate that Meghan is so smart, talented and kind not to mention beautiful! They can’t stand that Meghan checks all the boxes. Meghan Markle is the daughter every parent should want”

A positive tweet about Meghan Sussex posted by Stella Parton (Dolly’s youngest sister).

I would love to see a positive thread about Meghan, but already this is starting to go off the rails.

Octavia64 · 21/03/2025 21:02

I’m actually quite enjoying the series.

i made a frittata tonight after she reminded me that that I did used to make them and they are very healthy.

I loved the Korean American chef she had on and I’ve ordered his book as I’ve never eaten Korean food and it looks really good.

i have some herbs in pots in my garden and I did get out there and chop off the dead bits and am considering planting some tomatoes.

I’m aware there’s media stuff and she’s generally disliked but actually I quite like the recipes and it’s surprisingly watchable.

RevolutionaryMode · 21/03/2025 21:22

I usually listen to music or the news when cooking and in the last few days I’ve had Meghan’s Netflix show on and I feel a bit more enthused about cooking. I had got to the point where I was almost dreading making dinner every night. So I’ve found what I’ve watched of the series so far to be helpful.

I’m going to give the one pot pasta a go. When I first watched Meghan make it I thought ‘what?’ But now I am seeing it in the media and on social media. An Australian-Italian chef I follow on Tik Tok, Sylvia Colloca, said that it’s been cooked for decades now in Italy, and that she often makes pasta dishes that way. And Martha Stewart, another person I follow on Tik Tok popped up on my FY Page making the pasta dish ‘taking the internet by storm’ just today.

And like Octavia64 I’ve been influenced into taking better care of my herb garden 🪴 😀

Btw, if you are at all interested in Martha Stewart, for those who haven’t already seen it, the Netflix documentary on her is a great watch.

LuxuryWoman2020 · 21/03/2025 21:53

I obviously don't know her but I like watching her and looking at pictures because she's well worth looking at, a very attractive woman with a great deal of charisma.

I find it fascinating that a person who so many people profess to have no interest I'm, attracts such a, frankly weird, amount of interest.

Good luck to her and her little family. I haven't seen her NF series but plan to watch over the weekend, I enjoy watching pretty people doing lovely things. Just for the escapism.

You don’t care about the claims that Meghan bullied staff ? Wow . Have you ever been a victim of bullying? I was and ended up having to take medication and have counselling.
Do you not think if the investigation had decided that Meghan was not a bully , she ( and Harry) would have insisted on the findings being made public?
Can I also remind you that Harry himself said that staff were crying at their desks ….

I'm not interested in rumours about someone I don't know. I made that clear above. I see the constant criticism of her as bullying. If you can allow one thread where you don't tear into her, that would be greatly appreciated.

I was asking if you care about bullying . You implied that you don’t and I find that horrifying.

I am not interested in rumours about someone I don't know. I consider bullying abhorrent and finding those constantly trashing Meghan Markle bullies and equally abhorrent.

I hope that's clear.

WorriedMutha · 21/03/2025 22:55

We've heard the bullying rumours but because the press have been so batshit and frankly unhinged in their treatment of MM, we take them with a pinch of salt.
Much like the MM threads on MN in fact. Off the scale batshittery.
If this thread achieves anything, I hope that the usual Meghan posters get to see that there is a body of opinion that exists outside their bubble.
I watched the series in a 'having it on in the background' sort of way. It was entertaining enough. I found her engaging.

JSMill · 21/03/2025 23:04

MrsSunshine2b · 21/03/2025 16:10

The show isn't really my thing but she seems like a nice, kind person.

So you are not aware of the allegations of bullying from staff on both sides of the Atlantic?

Interesting how you abhor bullying yet you call anyone who dares to disagree with you a fanatic when you yourself seem to display that behaviour yourself. It’s quite amusing really

Extiainoiapeial · 21/03/2025 23:07

Well.... that went went well then, didn't it? Not!

I didn't expect a positive thread and it seems like I'm right in that expectation

^^ This.

If a thread about Meghan is posted in AIBU or Chat it's a totally different kettle of fish than on the royal board. Far more balanced with a difference of opinion but not full on sneering and dragging down of another woman, i.e. Meghan.

garlicandsapphires · 21/03/2025 23:14

I feel uneasy passing judgment on the bullying accusations until there's proof. I can imagine that in person she is highly strung. And god knows how stressful it must be to be her. I don't warm to her, but on a grand scale she seems pretty harmless. Beige, bland and very Californian. I agree that the 'batshittery' is indeed off the scale.
