William Was Lying From The Start Wasn't He?

He's said it looked like fun!

He works so hard he must've prepped for months studying his lines etc.

The actresses certainly didn't work half as hard as he does and we're simply having fun telling such a traumatic story.

His hard working staff will be round shortly to put right any misconceptions.

It looks like he lied about watching a film. Why can't people just accept when he is wrong? It makes all the fans seem deluded.

He should have been prepared or just said, congratulations - and if asked, no I haven't had an opportunity to watch.
I think everyone would understand and sympathise given their current family circumstances. There was absolutely no reason to lie.

You’ll be ever so pleased to know he didn’t lie.

AliceOlive · 20/02/2024 17:44

How is that possible @TitusGroaned. It says it right there in the thread title, plain as day. Surely it must be true?

TitusGroaned · 20/02/2024 17:46

😂

sorry I forgot most people get their news and views from social media and movies 😆

AliceOlive · 20/02/2024 17:47

I get mine here and from the yahoo comments section.

TitusGroaned · 20/02/2024 17:50

I get mine from obscure movie reviews and chicken entrails

AliceOlive · 20/02/2024 17:55

I’m also a member of a 1980s LISTSERV. It’s old news but somehow started resending messages from decades ago. It’s very comforting.

AliceOlive · 20/02/2024 17:57

But I don’t want to derail. Let’s give the actual movie some love. Shame for a clickbait article to detract from the actors and their moment. Anyone seen it?

TitusGroaned · 20/02/2024 17:57

@AliceOlive 😂

Oooh teletext may be another good one to get back into 👍 And our local community notice board can be entertaining (in a wickerman kinda way)

I haven’t seen it yet, sounds harrowing.

AliceOlive · 20/02/2024 18:01

local community notice board, brilliant.

William ‘s gaffe was telling an actor that her film looked like a ‘ lot of fun’
The film is about consent and rape.

He didn’t bother to prepare himself and admitted he hadnt watched it

It isn’t new or shocking that William, or any of the ‘royals’ for that matter, should make these stupid remarks .

Prince William makes awkward How to Have Sex gaffe at the Baftas

Prince of Wales admitted he hadn’t seen film that addresses issues around consent

The film of this whole encounter is available on twitter, should you care to look at it (fairly sure you won’t, since it shows your post is completely inaccurate).

From that you would learn firstly that William congratulates Mia McKenna-Bruce on winning the Rising Star award, and immediately says “I’m sorry I haven’t watched your film yet, but I’m sure you had a good time making it”. To which Mia immediately replies, warmly and smiling broadly “We did, we had a really, really, really good time!”.

So the actress was not remotely upset by the question, nor did she seem to find her recollection of working on the film traumatic. Nor was anyone else there concerned by the exchange - they were all also smiling broadly at Mia while she answered William. He then immediately again apologised for bring behind in his film watching.

Secondly, this harked back to a conversation he had, also on camera, when arriving at the event, and speaking with Elaine Bedell, chief executive of the Southbank Centre. William apologized for his wife's absence at this year's awards. "I'm sorry Catherine's not here. She does love the BAFTAs," he said.
"I remember last year about the films that you'd watched," Bedell replied.
"All the ones I watch, she watches with me. So we go through it carefully," William shared. He then mentioned that he’s unfortunately not had the opportunity to watch many films this year.

Manufactured outrage, in any event.

A more thorough account minus the click-baity title. Thanks @Serenster, as always.

So did the actress also make a gaffe by responding that yes she had had a really really good time in regard to making the film?

I think we don’t know enough about her to decide. Is she W&K or SS?

Clearly this comment is bollocks when you watch the actual video.

She looks happy, she didn’t react with self righteous manufactured indignation so no way is she SS 😆

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 20/02/2024 18:28

And anyone basically trying to triangulate the young actor into this non controversy - apparently brilliant who won an award for her part and is just starting out - should be ashamed of themselves.

Novella4 · 20/02/2024 18:28

@Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar
Really? Take it up with the Independent

TitusGroaned · 20/02/2024 18:29

I thought we weren’t supposed to trust the media as it was a dragon or something anyway 😆

I agree. It’s all fun and games until someone who doesn’t deserve it gets dragged into the fray.

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 20/02/2024 18:30

Well since @Serenster cleared it up on page 1 of this thread, and the actual video of what happened is readily available to watch, I will take it up with anyone perpetuating rubbish.

Edited

I really can’t keep track of which media outlets people support and trust.

No one reads these threads, dear. We just post whatever we like in the moment. 🤣

TitusGroaned · 20/02/2024 18:32

Ohhhhh it’s a shape shifting dragon - got it 🫡

TitusGroaned · 20/02/2024 18:34

@AliceOlive I thought I’d accidentally posted on the BFI board at one point 😆

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 20/02/2024 18:34

Oh really @AliceOlive ? And there was me thinking the moral high ground was being taken on this clearly ridiculous OP and thread title. Oh well, Willy is a stinky poo head it is.
