William Was Lying From The Start Wasn't He?

He's said it looked like fun!

He works so hard he must've prepped for months studying his lines etc.

The actresses certainly didn't work half as hard as he does and we're simply having fun telling such a traumatic story.

His hard working staff will be round shortly to put right any misconceptions.

Although this isn’t a gaffe, I do love a gaffe, whoever makes it because life can be funny and not everything goes as planned for all of us.

TitusGroaned · 20/02/2024 12:53

The human rights of indigenous people being crushed by wealthy elites is clearly not a ‘petty’, or ‘tawdry’ issue. The repeated behaviour regarding the minimisation of native people is exactly why Harry looks incredibly hypocritical and not at all like the caring empathetic humanitarian he likes to portray, when there’s a camera and a PR opp to be had. On the basis of this it is clear to me he should be accountable for his actions.

Harry and his family aren’t coming across remotely well, however hard the spin and deflection; and that also extends to his wife.

I think that he can be excused for not having watched all the movies before but his team/aides honestly should have prepped him better.

Absolutely this. An embarrassing gaffe for Team Wills.

Can always tell when a bullshit thread pops up, the OP always capitalised every word in the title and never reappears after the initial post.

It’s a riff off similar titled threads in the Royal Forum. Perfectly written for what is now happening on this thread.

Ah well, at least it was just the superficial world of film. He’s probably had other things to deal with, than sit around watching all those films. He wasn’t on the judging panel.

Imagine stepping away from royal duties but then speaking to a First Nations chief about the Crown’s historic commitment to Canada’s indigenous people, when not really authorised to speak on behalf of the crown. And gosh don’t those words sound hollow in light of how he’s quietly deflecting from his own African Parks scandal. Makes it seem like he only cares about native people when there are cameras and it’s creating good PR for him. Classic white savior.

The question is has Harry been briefed by the FCO or is this entirely driven by him? He really could make a complex situation worse if he goes in without understanding the wider politics.

NarnianQueen · 20/02/2024 13:59

Op, have YOU watched so much as a trailer for the film? It's very much portrayed as a party film!

ToffeeTalk · 20/02/2024 14:06

Well in the interests of equity between two equally dim brothers, William is now doing a hot take on the situation in the Middle East.

Really they should stick to shaking hands and shutting up about serious matters.

TitusGroaned · 20/02/2024 14:15

Nice try.

One brother is asking for an end to violence - the other is turning a blind eye to brutal atrocities in Africa carried out by the charity he just happens to be involved in.

TitusGroaned · 20/02/2024 14:20

Comparing a statement that highlights brutal atrocities to Harry’s crickets - thanks for making my point btw 👍

ToffeeTalk · 20/02/2024 14:21

The comparison is each of these two people with nothing to say weighing into politics. They should both stfu.

Novella4 · 20/02/2024 14:22

Christ - you are concerned are you William?
Your family are the face of British arms sales . You ve all been flogging weapons to both sides in the Middle East for decades

Performative twit

TitusGroaned · 20/02/2024 14:23

Dw - Harry is happy to stfu about African parks

TitusGroaned · 20/02/2024 14:25

Highlighting the rising death toll is ‘weighing into politics’ - maybe stick to how profound the vacuous world of movie making is 👍

Absolutely this. An embarrassing gaffe for Team Wills.

It's really not. It's the Daily Mail taking a comment out of context and creating another narrative around it.

See @Serenster posts about what was actually said.

"Serenster · Today 08:15

The moment of the photo, which has also gone viral, with delightful comments like “what racist comment did William make to cause these women to react like this?” ACTUALLY captured the moment when William said to the Rising Star nominees “Have you had any moments when you thought “This is it, I’ve done it?” And one of them immediately responded “right now!”. And they all laughed.

🙄🙄🙄"

So actually meeting the POW was their ‘made it’ moment - so rather than embarrassing himself and making them feel awkward, sounds like they were very pleased to meet him. That’s why I don’t read the dm or metro, weird tabloids usually have scorn poured all over them. Not when they’re helping with point scoring it seems 😂

Or maybe they were trying for a pile on William but it backfired. Or maybe they posted sincerely. Only the OP knows their true motives.

William is not weighing into politics - he is showing concern for those affected on both sides of the conflict. As a future head of state that is wholly appropriate.

Meanwhile, Harry (rather like yourself on this thread) has been blundering carelessly into matters he doesn’t properly understand, making a fool of himself, and (in Harry’s case) possibly triggering a diplomatic incident.

@Thegreengreengrassofhomes

I very much doubt he wrote it . But whoever did write it was drawing on political imagery

It most certainly is political

He has no mandate and should STFU

Novella4 · 20/02/2024 15:25

And that is not even taking into account the fact that the Windsors are de facto arms salesmen
The hypocrisy!

TitusGroaned · 20/02/2024 15:41

Even the article in the guardian, which has disdain for the royals, admits Charles was used by the government to do an arms deal. And places the blame on the government. The government would argue they were just trying to support British manufacturing and British jobs, and it’s not on them to police how people use equipment they are sold. As you care so much, I guess I’ll see you at the next stop the war march protesting against tech bro Rishi?

All that shouldn’t deter William from highlighting the horrible loss of life that is happening right now. It’s heart wrenching and so very sad there doesn’t seem to be an end in sight.

ToffeeTalk · 20/02/2024 15:41

Absolutely Novella4.

@Thegreengreengrassofhomes I'm not at all clear how you can make a judgment, based on the astonishingly little that I've said, that I 'don't properly understand' either film or politics/ diplomacy.

I'm equally unclear on why people are so rude on these threads whenever one calls out a royal. I've seen MN intervening a number of times to say can people keep the threads civil.
