William Was Lying From The Start Wasn't He?

He's said it looked like fun!

He works so hard he must've prepped for months studying his lines etc.

The actresses certainly didn't work half as hard as he does and we're simply having fun telling such a traumatic story.

His hard working staff will be round shortly to put right any misconceptions.

No one reads these threads, dear. We just post whatever we like in the moment. 🤣

I know! Why would someone post the exact same story as the OP did on page 1 but c 170 replies later like its some magnificent riposte 😆

Novella4 · 20/02/2024 18:36

“Speaking at the Bafta’s ceremony, William admitted that he hadn’t watched the film, but added that it looked like “fun”.

So he hadn’t seen the film but he thought it looked like fun . How did he know? Because he saw the title ‘ how to have sex’ and assumed.
It was actually about consent and rape
Hence the gaffe.

The rest , whether the actor enjoyed making the film etc, is not the point. It’s being made the point in an attempt to defend William .

Pages gone and we heard that William lied and said he’d watched the films, despite no one ever having suggested this prior and videos posted clearly showing him saying he had not yet had watched. Accuracy and honesty is so 2015. We’ve moved into a post-honesty time. We need to get with the program.

Can you ask chat gpt to enhance clarity please?

And serious question, have you actually watched the video?

Imagine a world where someone just attended an awards ceremony and where they play clips from the films involved. Where someone might see a jovial bit of the film and later say something positive based on what was shown.

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 20/02/2024 18:41

He said at the outset he hadn't seen it. He said it looked like you had fun all the way through. And she agreed. Because their mutual understanding was that they were talking about filming.

AliceOlive · 20/02/2024 18:42

Yes, to defend William for saying “it looks like you enjoyed making the film” we indeed present exhibit A, the actresses saying yes, they enjoyed making the film.

But she’s only saying it to defend William! 😤

I think that’s the thrust of the argument now? Hard to tell, the main points tend to shapeshif a lot 😆

Daisyislazy · 20/02/2024 18:45

I'm not surprised he hasn't had much time to watch movies he's had other things on his mind

PrestonHood121 · 20/02/2024 18:46

Hi Harry

AliceOlive · 20/02/2024 18:46

I’m very confused now. Surely the point is that they enjoyed making the film after all?

AliceOlive · 20/02/2024 18:47

So confused that I tried to thank myself for my own post. 🤣

If you had watched the BAFTA ceremony on TV you would have seen clips of the film which did in fact show lots of laughter and 'fun'.

To be honest that is super embarrassing! Thats their job right to be prepped for these events at least do the job properly to do otherwise give it up.

What a huge error to make especially given what the kvoie is about.. yeah real fun wills playing someone who was raped. Chuckle chuckle. 🙄

Edited

You’ll be relived to know that’s not what transpired.

What this thread proves, if nothing else, is that people who are against the RF - and W&K specifically - don't give a shit about what ACTUALLY happened and would prefer to keep repeating lies to make their points. Which is very telling, really.

I think important filmmaker is an oxymoron.
Spielberg is just a director. He's not a Nobel winning scientist or politician. I feel the same about authors, if you want experts on the human condition we have psychologists, sociologists and human geography.
Makes billions, yes. Perhaps spread messages to inspire people to read some actual history, yes. Important? No.

The televised programme also had discussion about the film and a piece with the director about its purpose.

This piece is months old. It would have taken William just a few minutes to check out a piece of each of the big films without looking as though he's trivialising serious issues. It's really not a big ask.

‘Stuff happened, you know?’ How to Have Sex director Molly Manning Walker on wild youth, Magaluf and storming Cannes

The British director’s debut, the story of a teenage holiday based on her own experiences, won a top prize at the festival. She discusses her addictive personality and why we need to talk about consent

I take your point but very clearly films can be so many things, including acutely political. I personally would rate the good Spielberg has done way above the good that say Boris Johnson or Liz Truss have done.

What is 'actual history'?

TitusGroaned · 20/02/2024 19:21

‘trivialising serious issues’

He didn’t trivialise serious issues, he made polite small talk and an award ceremony, where the tone is lighthearted and celebratory, not deep and profound. The actresses clearly enjoyed the exchange. All this faux outrage, what purpose does it serve?

MrsFinkelstein · 20/02/2024 19:23

notthatthis · 20/02/2024 17:27

It looks like he lied about watching a film. Why can't people just accept when he is wrong? It makes all the fans seem deluded.

He should have been prepared or just said, congratulations - and if asked, no I haven't had an opportunity to watch.
I think everyone would understand and sympathise given their current family circumstances. There was absolutely no reason to lie.

He didn't lie. He admitted he hadn't watched the film and apologised to the cast.

So, will you apologise for your misunderstanding and accusations?

"Serenster · Yesterday 22:27

The film of this whole encounter is available on twitter, should you care to look at it (fairly sure you won’t, since it shows your post is completely inaccurate).

From that you would learn firstly that William congratulates Mia McKenna-Bruce on winning the Rising Star award, and immediately says “I’m sorry I haven’t watched your film yet, but I’m sure you had a good time making it”. To which Mia immediately replies, warmly and smiling broadly “We did, we had a really, really, really good time!”.

So the actress was not remotely upset by the question, nor did she seem to find her recollection of working on the film traumatic. Nor was anyone else there concerned by the exchange - they were all also smiling broadly at Mia while she answered William. He then immediately again apologised for bring behind in his film watching.

Secondly, this harked back to a conversation he had, also on camera, when arriving at the event, and speaking with Elaine Bedell, chief executive of the Southbank Centre. William apologized for his wife's absence at this year's awards. "I'm sorry Catherine's not here. She does love the BAFTAs," he said.
"I remember last year about the films that you'd watched," Bedell replied.
"All the ones I watch, she watches with me. So we go through it carefully," William shared. He then mentioned that he’s unfortunately not had the opportunity to watch many films this year.

Manufactured outrage, in any event."

William ‘s gaffe was telling an actor that her film looked like a ‘ lot of fun’
The film is about consent and rape.

He didn’t bother to prepare himself and admitted he hadnt watched it

It isn’t new or shocking that William, or any of the ‘royals’ for that matter, should make these stupid remarks .

Again, you're mistaken.
