William Was Lying From The Start Wasn't He?

He's said it looked like fun!

He works so hard he must've prepped for months studying his lines etc.

The actresses certainly didn't work half as hard as he does and we're simply having fun telling such a traumatic story.

His hard working staff will be round shortly to put right any misconceptions.

I remember the things that are my job to remember, like everyone (apart from the spectacularly incompetent)! I’m an academic. I can’t forget my students’ names, or stand up in a lecture theatre in front of 200 first years and say ‘You know, Thingie, the protagonist in Whatshisname’s first novel…’

Huh 🤷‍♀️ you must have a better memory than me.

Julianne65 · 20/02/2024 10:25

Bloody hell! Not going to watch that film! Sounds awful!

ToffeeTalk · 20/02/2024 10:26

@TitusGroaned I really have no idea why you seem so upset. I haven't made any comment for or against either brother, I simply thought the idea that an incredibly powerful medium such as film being dismissed as superficial was seriously lacking in understanding.

Do all posters have to be massively against one or other of William or Harry? I find both underwhelming tbh but don't have any interest in getting into the comparison squabbles. But if a remark is made which seems just plain wrong, as yours seemed, then I can surely reply without getting dragged into the fight.

No need to project your own feelings of being upset onto me, I’m perfectly well, thank you for the concern though. You’re on a royal board on a thread about William. Reading and posting away. But have no interest in the topic. Ok, I believe you 😉

My whole post was directly related to both royal brothers. You took out a sentence, thus decontextualising it. Making your own response meaningless. And derailing the whole thread. I kindly re-explained the point originally being made. I’ll do it again. The world of film is* superficial to the atrocities Harry’s charity has carried out. I’m not on a film board debating the merits of film, I am on a Royal board discussing the royal brothers. I’ll own it 😉

  • pretty much the MO of the journalist in the article flagged by the OP. Coincidence? 😆
ToffeeTalk · 20/02/2024 10:37

@TitusGroaned I didn't actually enquire after your welfare. I find it rather lame when posters do that - it's just a bit silly.

I do have an interest in the rf generally but that doesn't mean that I have to sign up to being pro or anti either of the brothers. If you make a bald statement such as that film is superficial, expect to be challenged on it but don't expect posters who are less exercised by stupid William or stupid Harry to get drawn into the aggressions.

I tried to be generous and give you the benefit of doubt, thank you for confirming you weren’t talking about my feelings out of concern. Assigning emotions you’ve imagined to people you don’t know is more than a bit silly, it’s unpleasant.

If you make false insinuations about other posts by taking random sentences out of context, expect to be challenged back about it. I wasn’t having a discussion about the merits of film as an art form in general, as well you know. You’ve made it perfectly clear you don’t want to engage with the actual content of my post, as you apparently have no interest in the atrocities carried out by African Parks and Harry’s continued minimisation of native people. Your prerogative, but then maybe don’t respond to my post about it in the first place if you don’t want to be drawn into that conversation. And if you experience calm measured responses as ‘aggression’, perhaps another reason not to tag posters and start twisting their words in the first place.

Interesting you’ve also now backtracked and have confirmed you are interested in the RF, suggesting you are interested in William and Harry, members of the RF, after all. I’m seeing a theme with the goal post shifting. So I’ll leave you to it, I have no interest in derailing the OP’s thread. My point around the world of film stands, it is superficial in comparison 🎥 🍿

there are some really strange threads in this topic, but this one is extra odd.
do the people who start the threads even check the facts first.

can't see what William did wrong.

No - people are so consumed by the Windsor Wars they cannot see the wood from the trees sometimes. Honestly - it’s obvious what “side” this poster is on but they cannot see just how harmful using this type of narrative framing is when it’s pointed at someone they don’t like. And so round and round we go.

It’s simple - William went to the BAFTAs. He didn’t watch all the movies - understandably. He wasn’t prepped properly which happens and hopefully won’t happen again. A split second picture taken during a filmed encounter is then used to drive a narrative that confirms some people’s pre-existing ideas - gets posted here in the most inflammatory way then it becomes a bum fight.

ToffeeTalk · 20/02/2024 11:11

@TitusGroaned you're getting yourself in knots here, since I never said I had no interest in the rf. I just didn't post anything along those lines. You really are seeing (inventing?) stuff which isn't there.

skullbabe · 20/02/2024 11:12

*see the conversation in the post before mine - and round and round we go (@Samcro )

ToffeeTalk · 20/02/2024 11:12

people are so consumed by the Windsor Wars

To a really bizarre level.

A bit like you imagining my emotions and deciding my whole original post was really about the merits of film 😉😆

TitusGroaned · 20/02/2024 11:16

people are so consumed by the medium of film

To a really bizarre level.

ToffeeTalk · 20/02/2024 11:18

@TitusGroaned Apologies then for using the term upset but you really did come down on a comment about the merit of film as a medium in a wholly disproportionate way. 'Upset' seemed a more acceptable thing to say than any of the other options which could be used to characterise a huge reaction to an anodyne point.

ToffeeTalk · 20/02/2024 11:20

I can't see that stirring up the hatred between these brothers is going to do anything to reinforce the idea that the monarchy is a good thing. They just seem petty and horrible and generally tawdry. Not really something to inspire loyalty and support.

EvangelicalAboutButteredToast · 20/02/2024 11:21

You should hear Biden’s speeches 🤣That guy has access to nuclear war heads!!

YouJustDoYou · 20/02/2024 11:22

Ok Meghan

crockofshite · 20/02/2024 11:24

It's just small talk

TitusGroaned · 20/02/2024 11:24

’wholly disproportionate way.’
’a huge reaction to an anodyne point.’

Maybe apply your own terms to your continued nitpicking of a single sentence in my original post 😂

ToffeeTalk · 20/02/2024 11:31

@TitusGroaned I posted one very short post when I read your comment disparaging film and my subsequent posts have been replies to your ones addressed to me.

I think we should drop the exchange now; it's circular.

LauderSyme · 20/02/2024 11:34

All of this, starting with the newspaper article but not ending there, seems to be media content in search of a story.

TitusGroaned · 20/02/2024 11:37
Uh Huh Reaction GIF by CBS

@ToffeeTalk Thank you for confirming you started the circular chat by tagging me originally, and continuing to, despite not really being interested in the actual content of my post, as according you, atrocities and the minimisation of native people apparently falls under petty RF brotherly squabbles, in your book anyway.

ToffeeTalk · 20/02/2024 12:19

The quarrels are clearly not petty, which is exactly why the entire core rf looks incredibly tawdry and not the caring empathetic family that they try to portray. On the basis of this massive dysfunction and the lack of care or empathy for each other it's not clear to me why they should have any public support.

No-one is coming across remotely well, however hard the spin, and that definitely includes the father.

Op, you know the rape wasn't real? It was acted in a movie.
Many things are. Murders. Aliens. Gory deaths all round.

Not the point.

MorningSunshineSparkles · 20/02/2024 12:44

Can always tell when a bullshit thread pops up, the OP always capitalised every word in the title and never reappears after the initial post.

pokebowls · 20/02/2024 12:45

skullbabe · 19/02/2024 18:44

I think that he can be excused for not having watched all the movies before but his team/aides honestly should have prepped him better.

Oh yes blame his staff 🙄
