The royal family

Why does the interview with H&M cause more anger and upset than the interview with Prince Andrew?

To preface - Im not a fan of Harry. Meghan I can give or take i think she mostly a victim to a husband who perhaps didn’t paint a full picture of what royal life is like and with her being American that way an easy thing to do.

Yes the Harry and Meghan interview contained porkie pies (about ‘getting married properly’, meh so what) and pretty shocking claims about racism and was full of total misunderstandings of royal protocol - such as going to HR for mental health help and then being confused when they point out you aren’t an employer. But I do feel it was their truth as to what they believe happened. I believe their behaviour is absolutely entitled and grotesque (Harry moaning about daddy cutting him off, mate your a 40yo millionaire read the room) but their anger stems from feeling genuinely wronged by people they love.

The Prince Andrew interview - he told great big fat barefaced lies that a 5yo would make up (“Oh well that can’t be true because I Erm…don’t sweat?”). All to cover up the fact he had sex with trafficked teenagers. He lied about his dodgy friendships, about medical conditions, about meeting women whose silence he later paid for. It’s absolutely outrageous that this interview as barely ever spoken about, he’s a TERRIBLE liar and I like H&M it’s not his truth it’s just a great big stonking fat lie from a nasty little pervert with an enormous sense of entitlement who has been treated pretty well and protected by mummy

Why do people get angrier about the interview if a (admittedly a bit of a tone deaf and stonking rich) couple who were actually just a bit sick of being harassed by the press and having their baby’s looks critiqued, than they do about an actual sex offender lying in his?

I actually think that people have felt deceived/taken in by Harry?

He was so very popular - it's taken some doing to get himself down to where he is now! A lot of it's nothing to do with MM, but people being let down that he wasn't what he seemed? Harry was fun, seemed easy-going, unlucky in love and then there was the lovely friendship between him and his brother and his wife.

I think it's also disgust at all the muck they flung at the RF towards the end of his grandparents' lives. He must have put them through so much.

Andrew too had his days of popularity, when he served in the Falklands. He was a ladies man back in the day too. The sleazy association with Epstein et al built up over a period of years - it took a long time and Guiffre suing him before it affected his position in the RF.

I actually went to meet Harry once when he was at an engagement. I spoke to him and shook hands with him. I wouldn't look out the window now if he was walking past my drive.

@TripleDaisySummer

I feel the same - with one small difference.

It is possible he could win round some detractors. Not all though.

I don’t think it is hate. More like derision.

I think he could have even won round his family if he had directed his personal snidey comments to those they concerned instead of putting them out for all to see.

They might manage to win round the King. He seems a compassionate soul and as a father he must be beside himself - as well as wishing that things could be different. It cannot be easy.

W&K though? He went too far there.

Meghan? Who knows.

But how could anyone ever trust them again? A layer of eggshells isn’t good carpeting in a family home.

I’d rather not be involved at all with people who I couldn’t trust. Life would be infinitely easier.

If I were K, I’d never forgive him. She probably is a better and more forgiving person than me though.

The interview(s) with H&M get more discussion, because people have different opinions.

The interview with PA shows he is an unpleasant and entitled individual, and no-one disgrees with that.

So nothing to discuss.

Discussion is not the same as 'anger and upset'.

Poor you to feel so strongly about someone you don't know

and you don't? 😂

OhmygodDont · 19/01/2024 19:39

I definitely think the sold us something and it being fake is something.

Andrew for all I’ve ever seen of him as a women in her early 30’s is tbh a creepy looking man being creepy.

Where as Harry was this lads lads drinking being fun, always a raging smile on his face loving life apparently got on amazing with his family hell sometimes it looked more like the Harry and Kate show than him as the third wheel.

Then appears this grumpy man spewing stories about everyone and anything frankly. Now Kate’s the enemy and so is William all those photos and videos and appearances where him playing everyone including his own family. The lies about not riding bikes with daddy or being somewhere when he was skiing, the whole Xbox thing when it didn’t exist yet.

When he was shouting that his family where the family Megan never had but then suddenly they are horrible, yet she was invited to things much sooner than any future royal wife. Then he even sells out an ex sex partner and keeps bringing up his ex who’s moved on way way on in his court papers but he doesn’t want the press talking about him technically. When he sold us his lie of wanting to go life in Africa and achieve so much. Yet now its a shadow life in the us.

where and who is the real Harry because I’m not sure either version is actually the true him. It feels like when his in a relationship he moulds to his partners likes. Africa for his ex. Us for Megan. What does he actually want? Because happy doesn’t seem
To exist these days he just seems to be on a collision course with something or someone constantly.

Frenzy. Outrage. Hate.

In the same vein, see also New York high speed near catastrophic car chase.

Equally laughable.

All Omid-style spin/word fluffage designed to rub folk up the wrong way.

Although I suppose that is somewhat different to an actual fluffer…

Rotum GIF

It's actually not that different 😂I looked up fluffage and I got

  • fluffage
The act of fluffing ones testicles or someone fluffing ones testicles. By physically relocating the (testis, testes)testicles and scrotum by hand to ease mild irritation and gain much comfort.
ArcaneWireless · 19/01/2024 19:50

Oh my christ @whiteshutters

I thought I’d made up a word. A follow on from fruitage as it were.

I’m very sorry.

I’m clearly not an all knowing clarty midden 😳

ArcaneWireless · 19/01/2024 19:51

That is quite the image! 🤣

Given I don't call anyone ugly or thick... ermmm... no.

KarenNotAKaren · 18/01/2024 18:11

….sorry what?
I didn’t say she introduces herself as ‘mixed race’. I said she describes herself as mixed race or ‘mixed’. Because - well because she does.

She has also, for years, described herself as Caucasian. Apparently she only discovered she's mixed race when she met Harry.
I expect there's lots of my truth/your truth in there somewhere.

For goodness sake, do you think she doesn't know her ethnicity?

What?

I feel strongly about people who I feel have been annihilated in the press and on MN for not what I'd call a crime of the century.

I wouldn't call anyone 'thick' or 'stupid' if I didn't know them, no.

Edited

so in other words then you are the same as the person you criticised ie. you feel very strongly about someone you don't know. It is irrelevant what words they use. It is the "feeling very strongly about someone you don't know". It's OK to do that but not to call out people for doing the same as yourself.

Roussette · 19/01/2024 20:45

Whatever you say. I'm not criticising endlessly, I'm looking for the good in people. Not insulting them. That suits me.

Angrycat, I thought the “Kate was cheated” on thing was a fabrication pushed by Giles Coren who then later fessed up.

No that was out there long before Giles Coren (who is close friends with Camilla's son Tom),

Fervent fans claim Coren started the rumours as a way to find a way to blame Meghan.

Is this a double bluff? 👀

ArcaneWireless · 20/01/2024 00:01

There are a couple of names I don’t recognise but that isn’t to say they aren’t prolific posters elsewhere. Or love a lurk. 🤷🏽‍♀️

They could be discussing pustules on the sporner corner thread for all I know.

Yapping about soft furnishings on a weekly basis. Wondering what temperature to wash sheets at? Figuring out what to do with the MN chicken on day 211?

I can’t see it (the name changing) but I’ll happily concede to someone more knowledgeable… Does it matter?

whiteshutters · 20/01/2024 00:11

I have never seen so many new names in the last two days.

ArcaneWireless · 20/01/2024 06:59

I honestly haven’t noticed but in my defence, I’ve been working and then up to my eyes with other things.

It is hard to tell these days. Same old trenches. Just different days!

Walkingwashingmachine · 20/01/2024 07:30

This thread has gone a bit strange...

MaturingCheeseball · 20/01/2024 09:26

I do think on the “Kate operation” threads there was a “dog whistle” type of thing going on, in that the threads were dominated by unusually unpleasant posts. These posters said they were “republicans” but the nastiness sounded more like just cruel minds and, from what I have read elsewhere, a call to arms to a certain group of online supporters of Harry and Meghan.
