Just that! The children have married really well!

They shop in the local Waitrose.

AppleKatie · 13/02/2023 18:01

‘The children’ are in their 40s

😂

Also there isn’t a scale upon which one can place poshness.

wobblyweasel · 13/02/2023 18:06

I married really well, I shop in the local Waitrose but I'm far from posh! Is there a poshness scale I'm unaware of? 🤗

MaverickGooseGoose · 13/02/2023 18:14

They are firmly middle class and had big aspirations.

ShirleyPhallus · 13/02/2023 18:14

is this off the back of Pip in her scanties in the daily mail today?

Luckydip1 · 13/02/2023 18:17

Middle class

Yes. It’s called the Cholmondeley Scale.

If you have to ask what the scale’s criteria are then you’re not on it.

This really made me laugh 😁

HazardaGuest · 13/02/2023 18:23

I would put him a bit posher than middle as they have a decent income from their own business. That said some entrepreneurs are rough as fuck.

AdventFridgeOfShame · 13/02/2023 18:40

Well posh

Definitely too posh for an apostrophe. I’m sure they leave them to the greengrocer 😏 😂

We have very different definitions of "married well".

I definitely don't dream of my children marrying into the royal family

AreBearsCatholic · 13/02/2023 18:47

For actually posh people I would assume they aren’t posh at all. The other pupils at their school used to make fun of their mother’s job, for example.

IntentionalError · 13/02/2023 18:50

Not posh at all. The parents are self-made middle class people from normal backgrounds. The daughters have attended elite private schools, good universities and married rich, high-status men, so their children will be posh / royalty.

anon666 · 13/02/2023 18:56

Mixed. Very posh/titled on the dad's side. Less so on the mum's side. But firmly upper middle class anyway.

The thing about the royals is they sit atop A set of titles, and traditionally would have to have married someone from a titled family (Duke of X, Earl of X etc)

PaediaSureShake · 13/02/2023 19:00

Not at all posh, and absolutely not upper-middle class. "New money" middle-class, whose children have become firmly middle-middle class thanks to their education. Income plays no role in social class.

Tidsleytiddy · 13/02/2023 19:03

I think rich is often mistaken for posh

Julyshewillfly · 13/02/2023 19:04

Very posh by my standards, but reading this makes me realise I am a pleb Grin

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 13/02/2023 19:07

They’re upper middle class which is basically posh without status

Give over. They're self-made lower middle class people who spotted a gap in the market for tat (though good for them).

piedbeauty · 13/02/2023 19:14

Middletons. It's posh to use correct grammar 😉

That says more about the other people than it does about Carol Middleton, though.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 13/02/2023 19:20

Guess it depends as to whether people think they can transition through classes, or you will always be what you were born into.
