How posh are the Middleton's?

Just that! The children have married really well!

Carol Middleton certainly didn't come from a posh background in any way- her family were miners, road sweepers and builders. Michael Middleton 's family had wealthy members but he didn't go to university - he was flight attendant and Carole an air hostess when they met.
They were ambitious and seem to have learned how to behave to 'fit in'- might not have been posh to start with but were never 'common'.

I mean, that's one rule to live by. It certainly explains why some of my university friends were more interested in the man's family and bank balance than whether he treated them well.

It's not an aspiration I have for my children. Whether that's because we're solidly middle class I don't know. Different values I expect.

He also attended a boarding school, as did his father and his grandfather.

It is a well known thing: work in the ME (in his case Jordan) , accumulate some wealth and buy a better house when you get back. I know Forces kids at boarding Schools who are sponsored by the government and they are not rich. Didn't he have a Forces background? I don't think he is from a wealthy background and I understand that Uncle Gary paid a lot towards the kids' school fees, not Part Pieces which made as much money you would expect that sort of a business to make (not significant)

As a family now, they are definitely upper middle class in my eyes. Prior I think Michael was probably posher than Carol...but she seems to be a very ambitious, determined woman. I'd be absolutely thrilled if I was her...they seem like a very close family, are well off and her children have all married "well" and are virtually guaranteed lovely comfortable lives. Quite an achievement... take my hat off to her.

Short memories here. I recall roller skating and landing on her butt in micro shorts, wearing thin summer skirts on royal trips with unweighted hems that flipped up and showed her bottom in a thong several times. Seriously. One time would have you learn surely. Unless it's intentional.

I live in a similar area. Upper middle. Their " humble cottage" was not humble at all and she went to a good independent school.

I was born middle class in another country - not commonweath - private school, nannies, cleaners, affluent neighbourhood etc
