She changed the whole look or Givenchy hate her?

I think she changed the lot just before the wedding.
Anyone know the lead time for Givenchy bridal wear?
Facts as I see them.

  1. Her evening Sella mccartney dress looked stunning and fitted well.
  1. 4 days before the wedding a local tailor Aja had to refit all the daytime bridesmaids dresses. Where was Givenchy?
  2. on the day the dresses look ok but not fabulous
  3. on the day her day dress was not fitted correctly. i am not sure you could fit it with that darting position and a boat neck.
  4. Her veil was fabulous but didn’t match the dress and tiara.

This is no disrespect to Aja there is only so much you can do to refit a dress esp if there is no allowance for darts or seams and the cut is all wrong.

so A B or C?
A
She changed the complete look tiara and all and only kept the veil right up until the last minute.
B She kept chopping and changing or couldn’t make a decision right up to the last minute.
C
Givenchy hated her and sent sub par dresses even though the whole world would be looking?
I think there was no time for Givenchy to get the bridesmaids dresses fitted.
most likely there had been too many design changes before hand.

Oh give it a rest

pedigreechump1 · 11/01/2023 02:18

I think the Sella mccartney was the dress she wanted. it suits her. It looks young modern sexy and classic ,but not for a church that you granny in law is head of.
I think there was no lead time for the dresses to be made and time just ran out. the reason there was all these tears everywhere was the dresses just were not ready hence them arriving 4 days before the big day without any fittings.

look at the detail on the bridesmaid dresses. there isnt any beading or no ribbon work. this is a pleated skirt with band attached to a simple standard bridesmaid bodice with no panels or darts so would be quite quick to make. The boys jackets would be much harder and time consuming.

ahh that makes a bit of sense. All the boat bateau neckline dresses have side panels on the dress to take in the excess fabric but hers didnt from what i can see. If anyone knows or has the pattern of the dress i would be really interested

it has the look of someone who doesnt understand how a dress needs to be constructed depending on the fabric. her Stella McCartney was made from white silk crepe. According to the internet stretch silk crepe so would be more forgiving than a silk which i guess the day dress was made from

This. Also you can't even get "Aja's" name right 😒

Option D. She looked great, the kids looked cute. Stop being bitchy

Elvira2000 · 11/01/2023 03:13

If half of the detail in that link is correct, it would explain a lot: why there was such animosity between the couples and the tights thing. I never understood why they would argue about tights on bridemaids. But if it was because the shoes were too uncomfortable and MM insisted, I'd get angry as well.

From Yankee Wally? I doubt it. She's a loon.

All the dresses on the day were shockingly badly fitted, bar Ivy’s and I thought that on the day looking at them. If you aren’t familiar w dress making then a lot of people wouldn’t spot it but I did think for a French Couture house it was a very poor outcome. Ridiculous to send children out without socks or tights and makes no sense. Also the designer being let go so soon after must have been related not least of all because couture projects have turnovers of months not weeks. I think M seems to be extremely demanding and unwilling to listen to others, similar other instances have been set out in Revenge and Courtiers. I think it’s probably likely she was refusing to take advice and ending up w a dog’s dinner. Her make up was completely on point though.

Who is aja?

pedigreechump1 · 11/01/2023 03:43

This is the evening dress. If you look the back would have had panelling that would make it drape beautifully. www.meghansmirror.com/shop/stella-mccartney-high-neck-wedding-gown/
Maybe she was just happier about the evening dress and the anxiety pressure of the daytime just got to her...

Sorry Ajay Mirpuri, the tailor that came in to fix the dresses 4 days before the wedding. I am guessing he didnt have to do the page boys jackets as that would have been a nightmare.

@Eyerollcentral I cant really see that bigger difference between the bridesmaids if i am honest. I agree from a dress making perspective the dress should have been better, and she would have had the right to get upset at the designers if this was their design.....

I also don’t believe a word of the linked blog post. Why would you? It’s hardly a credible source.

I think Meghan was under an immense amount of pressure back then. A huge wedding, the tabloids giving her shit, her family giving her shit, her in-laws being difficult, VIP guests coming from around the world. I couldn’t have done it!

I suspect she lost a lot of weight from the stress. I think she probably did her best with the dresses but I’m not going to give her a hard time that it wasn’t all perfect. She obviously thought the Aja plan was ok.

I do agree that her Stella McCartney dress was stunning though!! 🥰

I doubt Meghan ever went near the sewing rooms.

And they are bridesmaids not flower girls.

That sounds likely. How awful for Kate having been tasked with helping Meghan with protocol on the little dresses.

This first hand witness account gives a lot of detail. It certainly explains the tension.
