As the last thread filled up & there's plenty of discussion of Meghan's interview in The Cut, seems worthwhile starting a new thread!

A read yesterday that a series of media interviews are planned to promote the podcasts. Should be very interesting if The Cut interview is anything to go by!

Reading the responses to that interview in the media, they seem generally pretty derisory. She is shooting her self in the foot. However it is keeping her in the news, and that’s the outcome she wants.

SpinCityBlues · 30/08/2022 07:42

Joining thread to say ‘wowser’ or something equally unhelpful. I’m just reading the Cut article/ interview, and it has a definite air of things spinning out of control now for the Sussexes, the Windsors, the Cambridges, and ‘the Firm’. They all look like massive arseholes.

Back in the day the British Prime Minister would give a shit, it’s that serious now regarding optics on our Head of State (and Head of the C of E) and successors; but Johnson is probably loving it, massive arsehole that he is himself.

ShirleyJackson · 30/08/2022 07:43

She’s certainly milking her fortnight as a senior royal, isn’t she?

It must be making it very hard for her husband to maintain family links when she’s shit-stirring in public all the time.

Her behaviour reminds me of those abusive spouses who separate their wives/husbands from their friends and family.

I hope I’m wrong. That said, even if I am, the optics aren’t good.

ExcaliburBaby · 30/08/2022 07:49

I thought it was great when they got married, thought some sections of the media treated her appalling and thought “don’t blame them” when they said they wanted to leave. However when it became clear they wanted to pick and chose which bit of ‘being royal’ they wanted to be while trading on it, I went off them a bit. Now I think they need to put a sock in it and Harry should think carefully about if he actually wants a relationship with his dad and brother. What they have to say really isn’t that significant! And a lot of the time seems a bit overegged (for example there just wouldn’t be 40 paps at the school gate every day over here - and the irony of Meghan saying this in a feature that saw her being shadowed picking Archie up at nursery by a journalist seems to be lost on them!) This latest interview is the worst yet for cringe!

starrynight21 · 30/08/2022 07:54

Her interview with Serena Williams reminded me of that old joke , “But that's enough about me. Let’s talk about you. What do you think about me?”

Badger1970 · 30/08/2022 07:56

I'm just bewildered that they are STILL lashing out at the RF. Considering that they're living their best life and all.

They must both be seething with anger and resentment. It's not healthy.

Yes this. Why can't they move on? They wanted to leave, they've left. They don't seem to be able to actually enjoy their lives and stop lashing out

ShirleyJackson · 30/08/2022 07:59

They can’t move on because that’s all they’ve got to sell.

MissTrip82 · 30/08/2022 07:59

Oh my. I’ve always liked Meghan and thought she was doing some good stuff with her charity work before she left.

This interview though. Wow. She surely can’t be happy with the way it’s turned out? It paints a very negative picture in my view. She comes
across very badly indeed.

I wonder if she’s reached that stage of celebrity when nobody around you will tell you you’re wrong or criticise anything you do. It’s a dangerous and unhealthy place to be.

Flopisfatteningbingforchristmas · 30/08/2022 07:59

I get the impression she will say anything and her supporters will believe anything while everyone else will see through the BS. What do they actually do sitting at that desk together for Archwell?

SpinCityBlues · 30/08/2022 08:00

They’re caught in a trap, it would seem. Their content is only worth the kind of money they need to earn for the lifestyle they desire if it dishes dirt or sadness.

That’s a terrible bind to be in. Like pp said, unhealthy.

But so are royal lives in the UK.

LittleBearPad · 30/08/2022 08:01

The school run comments are just mad. The Cambridges have been doing the school run for years without the children being papped.

StartupRepair · 30/08/2022 08:03

The interviewer paints quite a picture. It is hard to see how any family relationships can come back from this.

cyclamenqueen · 30/08/2022 08:05

Couldn’t sleep last night and ended up reading the article , I thought it was a parody comedy account ( never heard of The Cut).I’m shocked it’s serious, although the photos are gorgeous.

The bit about the guttural noises 😮 and the ‘Duchess of Montecito ‘ , the ‘amazing secret’ that she is going back on Instagram and worse the Mills and Boon style of writing. Does she realise the writer was making fun of her 😮

Honestly it needs to stop now , she was a working Royal for 72 days and some of the stuff she says is so easily disproved, I am in no way excusing some of the awful press coverage but she sounds somewhat delusional and a bit desperate. I feel sad for them that they are struggling to move on but this constant playing the victim is not going to make any difference. Charles will be King and then William, (although I think he will be the last) and they will continue to become more and more irrelevant. They need to stop looking back and instead look forward and carve out their own lives without reference to an outdated institution in a foreign country that they have voluntarily left.

Maireas · 30/08/2022 08:05

There were two things that stood out, really. The first is that her child was called the N word in the British press. Does anyone know when or where this happened?
Secondly, that she could not have had Archie educated in the UK because there would have been 40 paps at pick up time. Does she not know children are protected from this? Has she seen examples which concerned her?
For all the gloss, it wasn't a happy picture.

Maireas · 30/08/2022 08:07

Sophie Wessex did the school run for years. I never saw pictures of other Royal children going to and from school.

MaulPerton · 30/08/2022 08:08

One of the most surprising things has been the discovery of how bad Sunshine Sachs are at their job. If she were my client, I would advise the exact opposite. M needs the PR equivalent of a lawyer present at all her interviews.

Wartywart · 30/08/2022 08:10

Her casually thrown-in accusation that the British press called Archie the N word is a worry. Did they? Surely they would have been prosecuted if so?

Maireas · 30/08/2022 08:11

Good points, @cyclamenqueen - I wish they could just move on now and just do all the positive stuff they talk about.

BigBamBoom · 30/08/2022 08:11

@ShirleyJackson I was about to say exactly the same thing. They're not independently wealthy enough to be philanthropists, and the only thing they've got left to sell to journalists is, "But we haven't named the racist yet."

SalesMum · 30/08/2022 08:13

I once was a fan of the royal family enjoyed the traditions etc

but MM and H being so entitled has made me rethink the whole sorry show

why should H and any of the rest of them by accident of birth and why should MM by simply marrying this man now get to ram themselves down our necks every 5 minutes whilst simultaneously demanding privacy

it’s a joke

SpinCityBlues · 30/08/2022 08:14

I’ve read the whole article now and I’m going to read it again.

It’s very cleverly written. Is it by an actual New Yorker, taking the piss out of Californian rich lifestyles? Or is it a message from a journalist saying in coded words, ‘this woman needs help’?

meateatingveggie · 30/08/2022 08:14

I wonder about Harry. I've never had much time for him, but given his traumatic childhood, his whole situation since childhood I wonder if he has even more regrets now.

I can't see how he can be happy with the situation with his family or how the constant swipes at them help.

LittleBearPad · 30/08/2022 08:15

The grunting bit is particularly strange.

Snog · 30/08/2022 08:15

The most ludicrous thing for me is that Meghan seems to keep conspiratorially "sharing secrets" via the media which I guess is to create an air of intimacy but just comes across to me as disingenuous and manipulative.

The fact that Serena had no idea about her fire story suggests to me that either the fire wasn't actually a big deal to Meghan or that if it was then Serena isn't really a close friend. Perhaps Serena is more invested in the friendship than Meghan is.
