As the last thread filled up & there's plenty of discussion of Meghan's interview in The Cut, seems worthwhile starting a new thread!

A read yesterday that a series of media interviews are planned to promote the podcasts. Should be very interesting if The Cut interview is anything to go by!

Agreed Snog. That wouldn’t work at all

MaulPerton · 30/08/2022 09:50

Having read the Meghan interviews this morning I believe the clock is ticking rapidly towards the removal of the Duke and Duchess titles

I hope that this is the case but have my doubts. Nothing has been done about H & M so far.

AlexandriasWindmill · 30/08/2022 09:51

The article was hugely entertaining. I must admit I'm enjoying the current media onslaught with the podcast and the article. Both fun in ways that probably weren't intended.
The obvious lies in the article are interesting as you can see from this thread, for a certain type of poster and supporter, the truth isn't important at all. Words don't have meaning. Except they do ... especially if it comes to the courts. In the meantime, they can pretend MM didn't say what she said; the Cut presumably will wait to see what MM officially challenges (they will have recordings and notes) and then the next article or podcast will drop and the same circle and circus will start again.
I do hope MM and H are enjoying this life they've built for themselves. I think there could be a lot of joy in it, depending on their attitudes and approaches.
As for this thread, probably best just to ignore posters trying to get the thread deleted for racism. MN can just delete their posts and let the rest of the thread stand.

I think the RF have been tone deaf in how they've let H & M carry on with this campaign of war against them .... and the same in how Andrew is still living a life of utter privilege and luxury.

Sadly, by the time Charles takes the helm and then William, the damage will be irrepairable. It's completely changed my view on having a RF.

Not defending Andrew in any way but he isn’t publicly moaning .

We have discussed it many times on here about how she never lied at the interview, with the British press twisting what she said. We wrote down all the debunked 'she lied'. You were all here, but you keep going back to something that was already clarified step by step because you have nothing else and want to pick on her.

The Cambridges have a specific contract with the press and you all know the Sussex kids would have been offered up in exchange for cambrige kids puff stories. There is always too much interest in the Sussexes and you know it.

This same press just told us MM lied about the fire, then changed the story. Now the SA press investigated and she told the truth.

We can all read dogwhistles from play of words, Compton, mutt, comparing her to a pig (her oar in), play on words (niggling a play on the n word). We are not stupid. Archie (black cab drive = understand that he is black and plain), play on words that he is frog spawn. I have never seen a royal baby being treated with such contempt
I don't think you can actually write the n word legally, but there are other ways you can dogwhistle.
MM's people would have been standing next to the press and would hear what was said and done- doesn't have to go to print.

Honestly, your post is completely incoherent.

OppsUpsSide · 30/08/2022 09:54

I read the reports on it and was suprised they’d agreed to an interview with a journalist who appears to take the piss put them. But having read the article, although it does lay somethings bare, it is more nuanced than that. They both sound desperate and damaged. She seems very aware of her image/brand and maybe that’s why she gives the air of being disingenuous, she’s trying too hard. It’s all a bit grim really.
Still, sounds like a nice childhood for the children as it goes.

Readinginthesun · 30/08/2022 09:54

@notanotheroneagain you are seeing racism where there is none .

OppsUpsSide · 30/08/2022 09:56

I also think she was deliberately misquoted over the ‘I lost my father in this’ and it is clear she was referencing Harry talking about her and that has been twisted to suggest she was referencing Harry talking about himself.

That’s a convoluted take!

Fortunately the journalist will have recordings if need be

I'm not sure about that. They probably both feel they lost their fathers.

mateysmum · 30/08/2022 09:58

notanotheroneagain An incident happened where a heater overheated and smoked. The room did not set on fire. Archie was not in the room. He suffered no ill effects. Sure, any parent would be anxious but to imply as Meghan did that it was oh so terrible that she should keep calm and carry on is just ridiculous. The whole ethos of public service by the Royal Family is just that.
And what's with the "housing unit" business?

SammyScrounge · 30/08/2022 10:00

tattychicken · 30/08/2022 09:37

I think the "I'm going back on Instagram!" and the subsequent back-pedalling was a veiled threat to the RF. There were a few during the interview. Rather unpleasant.

Yes, the bit about how she can tell about her whole experience or can choose not to seemed like a veiled threat .
She has forgotten that the Palace is sitting on that report on all her doings while in the RF.
But all is well. She's making rumbling noises about forgiving her own family and the RF

mateysmum · 30/08/2022 10:01

notanotheroneagain Oh and the "plain Archie" comment means that he does not use a title, it is not a remark about his personal appearance.

notanotheroneagain · 30/08/2022 10:01

Not too sure why everyone is clinging so much to the style of the article. It's about MM giving an interview and what she says.

If they would have called Omid, you all would have dismissed the article surely.

Now they got in someone who most likely does not even like MM. I think they deliberately did that, but she is an honest writer and will not leave out some points and try to paint her as a liar like the British Media.

This shows MM is not looking for fawning, the reporter can take as many digs as she wants, but she is not twisting her words, and it seems not selected to leave some things out. Just write what she says, that is all.

headstone · 30/08/2022 10:02

I have to say I find it bizarre when Archie or his sister are referred to as being black when they are pale and ginger and of mainly Germanic heritage. Surely they are white with some African heritage? I wonder how they will describe themselves when older.

ancientgran · 30/08/2022 10:06

StickywithSuncream · 30/08/2022 09:42

The black cab driver comment surely related to London Taxis being black? You know, the iconic taxi all over the streets of London. Not that the driver would be black.

I thought it was a sarky comment about poor Archie and his role in life, I mean he isn't going to be King but he isn't going to be a cab driver either is he. Not that there is anything wrong with being a cab driver, they earn a living honestly so there's worse things to be.

Which Omid then has to correct and explain?

As they say, "there's more than one way to skin a cat"!

In what way was the remark about her supposed "real" marriage to Harry in their back garden not a lie?

In what way was her implication that Archie would not be a prince because he was mixed race not a lie?

In what way was saying that the British media had called her son the N word not a lie?

In what way was saying she wouldn't be able to take her kids to UK school without a 40 strong press pack not a lie?

Me too. I hate how the white parts of the family just get written out, the children have 4 grandparents but apparently only one counts.

I might be taking it personally though as the white mother of mixed race kids.

I find that really odd too.

AlexandriasWindmill · 30/08/2022 10:12

I really enjoy at home articles like this one. It takes a skilled journalist to just let subjects show themselves. GQ is also great at that type of observational journalism. I'm not sure PR companies have got to grips with it yet at all.

ParasiticMicrowasp · 30/08/2022 10:14

What on earth does the phrase 'sticking [one's] oar in' have to do with pigs?

I agree that Meghan has been the victim of racism in the press, but that phrase is not an example of it...

Ollycat · 30/08/2022 10:14

Off topic maybe but did anyone else not worry about those chairs / table for use as a desk? Totally the wrong hight - surely RSI waiting to happen sitting their for any length of time - no one could work there for any length of time!

as for Omid I can’t help but wonder if he had hoped for more in his life then being the unofficial hype man for Meghan - a role which I would imagine has limited job satisfaction and a short life span.

I have no real opinion on any of them except the provide a great example of the lives of the over privileged- self absorbed and without any real purpose and use.

Ollycat · 30/08/2022 10:17

Oh my please excuse my appalling spelling / grammar- typing without contact lenses or much concentration is clearly not wise!

derxa · 30/08/2022 10:19

Meghan is a fascinating character
