As the last thread filled up & there's plenty of discussion of Meghan's interview in The Cut, seems worthwhile starting a new thread!

A read yesterday that a series of media interviews are planned to promote the podcasts. Should be very interesting if The Cut interview is anything to go by!

I once was a fan of the royal family enjoyed the traditions etc

but MM and H being so entitled has made me rethink the whole sorry show

why should H and any of the rest of them by accident of birth and why should MM by simply marrying this man now get to ram themselves down our necks every 5 minutes whilst simultaneously demanding privacy

it’s a joke

Good comment. The H & M debacle will make many rethink royalty.

There were two things that stood out, really. The first is that her child was called the N word in the British press. Does anyone know when or where this happened?
Secondly, that she could not have had Archie educated in the UK because there would have been 40 paps at pick up time. Does she not know children are protected from this? Has she seen examples which concerned her?
For all the gloss, it wasn't a happy picture.

If they did they would be prosecuted, as if in this day and age that would be accepted and the Royal Rota is really quite a small group. However, there was some BBC radio DJ who said something related to monkey and Archie that people bring out as evidence of the racism in the British press. I don’t know exactly what was said, he claimed he knew nothing about Meghan and he was suspended.

no way in earth that would happen now under current laws. Did happen when William and Harry were young…they were at boarding school from 8 though.

SpinCityBlues · 30/08/2022 08:17

Wartywart · 30/08/2022 08:10

Her casually thrown-in accusation that the British press called Archie the N word is a worry. Did they? Surely they would have been prosecuted if so?

I’d like to know this too so that it can be properly dealt with under UK law and press regulatory rules.

LittleBearPad · 30/08/2022 08:18

The instagram secret is also odd. In the course of the article it’s a bit ‘surprise’ she’s going back on instagram and then by the end she’s reconsidered and isn’t. Very odd

Good comment. The H & M debacle will make many rethink royalty.

Makes me rethink how some are cut out for it and that really it needs to be slimmer and if they don’t want to do they should go. But M and H are still just really bitter so did they really want to leave?

SilverLiningPlaybook · 30/08/2022 08:20

They are making a living out of being Perpetual Victims. The casualties of that are Harrys family relationships which can never come back from this. She has everything to gain from keeping the RF at arms length and cashing in on her Victimhood. He is the loser.

Harry seems to be relegated to a sort of joke role in her life. Juggling in the background. Coming into the room like a little boy during her interview to comment on SW’s hair. It’s tragic. What on earth do his ex Army mates make of it all I wonder?
Despite the beautiful house and lovely children, lots of money etc, the dynamic between them is very odd, not to say toxic. She seems to have an insatiable need for attention and fame. He just doesn’t seem to know who he is anymore.

Maireas · 30/08/2022 08:21

@AuroraCake - the Danny Baker post? It was an offensive social media post, with an image of a chimpanzee. I think he lost his job (I hope he did).
I think she meant the tabloids, not social media.

SpinCityBlues · 30/08/2022 08:22

The DJ incident I think was Danny Baker's tweet showing a posh couple with an poshly dressed monkey ‘child’, labelled ‘new royal baby’ or something similar. He says he meant it as a satire on royalty, not Archie’s racial heritage - but it was not well received put it that way.

I think the bitterness stems from the fact that they weren't allowed to have the deal they wanted, ie in/out, and she names other royals who she claims got that deal - so she feels unfair treatment.

Readinginthesun · 30/08/2022 08:24

Does anyone have evidence of the media referring to Archie by the N word ? Not talking about some of the hideous , anonymous comments in daily rags. but by actual reporters ?
And the photographing and reporting of children ( including Royal children) is strictly controlled in this country . The Cambridges manage to do the school run with out 40 reporters in a “ press pen”.
I do think M has gone too far this time . Oh and a nice way to overshadow the anniversary of Diana’s death.
Time for the Royal Family to respond.

That is the only thing that happened. It wouldn’t be put up with and how would any editor let that get into print unless that’s what they think they say to eachother. It is so bizarre…unless she means that. She has never been great on the distinction between social and actual media.

Though they aren’t actually named in the article so it’s hard to compare whether it’s true or not

If the allegation about the press is true then it needs to be investigated under U.K. law. If untrue then I wonder if the allegation is sailing daily close to defamation. I’m no expert but someone else may know.

As for paps at the school the Cambridges, Wessexes had dcs at school & I don’t think were papped.

Paperdolly · 30/08/2022 08:26

‘It’s so difficult to forgive’…..it is now MM n H. Just go away!!!!

LittleBearPad · 30/08/2022 08:26

The other problematic statement was that she’d never signed anything stopping her from talking. The implied threat isn’t pleasant

I hope they don’t. Just ignore it. Recollections May Vary is fine. I mean the journalist has literally just strung them up with this article. She Lynn Barbered them. Let them have rope. Now the royal rota group, if it is possible I would at least issue them with a cease and desist letter.

notanotheroneagain · 30/08/2022 08:31

You all have a lot of nerve telling a black person who has experienced relentless racism to 'just let it go'.

You believe every nasty rumour from royal sources who are unnamed, but when it comes from the horse's mouth, you now don't believe.

I assumed she meant Beatrice and Eugenie but they have never been senior working royals .

There are no working Royals who are allowed to make money from commercial enterprises whilst living abroad . None. So where she got that idea is anyones guess. She didn’t need to be a working Royal in the first place. It was their choice.

Those members of the family who have made money doing other things do not carry out official engagements. It’s not hard to understand.

susan12345678 · 30/08/2022 08:33

It really does seem like a carcrash. Harry might as well have married Kim Kardashian.

Goodness, she comes across as so flakey, yet puffed-up with her own importance. It’s clear she lives on the adrenaline of publicity, and will say anything to garner attention.

the photos are just hilarious - stiffly posed with a strange air of otherness about them. Almost as if she acting the part of an alien pretending to be a human. Very off-putting and unattractive. She used to look lovely in photos. Not sure what happened here.

Let what go? The supposed n word? Trust me if one of them did it, let them be outed. But it has never been said in public, if she knows about it privately the. I would like to see evidence and of course you wouldn’t want that person working in the media.

SilverLiningPlaybook · 30/08/2022 08:35

I never read a single thing in the media calling her children the ‘n’ word. What is she talking about?

That’s because Meghan has a track record of being economical with the actualite. And that’s being kind.

as Judge Judy said - don’t piss on my leg and tell me it’s raining.

Her face is stunning as always but her hair was a big mistake. It just doesn’t look right and mars what is her great beauty. She is a stunning woman.
