What are your thoughts on Amandaland?
I really tried to like it. I really did.
but for me it just isn’t as good as motherland. I just don’t think the characters are distinctive enough to really stand out and identify with like in motherland. But I gave see on a few thread and fab groups that people like Amandaland and it’s just as good.

Agree Motherland is far far better

The Christmas Amandaland was quite good though

It’s watchable but I find it a bit depressing somehow. Not as comforting and relatable as motherland. I want to know what the others are doing.

Im on episode 3 now and although its not the worst thing ive watched, I definitely wouldnt have bothered had i not seen Motherland and knew who Amanda and Anne were.
It's not the same dynamic and the characters have changed a lot.
Amandas mum is nowhere near snobby enough and Anne seems to have one child only. Amanda herself has changed and is just more unlikeable and really dumb.
The writing just isn't the same and its not as relatable at all.
I get that the kids have grown up and so it would change a bit but the kids were hardly in Motherland anyway.
Bring back Motherland!!!!!

I thought it was better than motherland. The main character on motherland was just so unlikeable

Amanda has softened a little and t think as a result there was less bite and humour in Amandaland. That character change had to happen I assume because she’s now the main character so has to be more relatable.

The Christmas special was poor, unfunny and it was boringly predictable that Jennifer Saunders played the character she usually plays.

But it’s entertaining as a whole and I’ll watch the new series when it’s out later this year.

I liked it but thought the Christmas special was poor.
I wasn’t expecting to enjoy the series but it didn’t feel like it was trying to be Motherland, I think the introduction of almost a totally new cast helped it feel completely different.

I like it but it made me miss the other characters from Motherland!

I enjoyed it. I preferred Motherland but that didn't stop.me enjoying Amandaland. The main protagonists of both are pretty unlikeable.

Preferred Amandaland! Found the marriage and thoughtlessness of her husband painful! Also more Anne time who is brilliant!

I loved it, not quite as good as Motherland but still funny and got that comfort watch element to it.

Amandaland was OK, watchable enough but not fantastic. I much preferred Motherland, Julia may have been a bit of an arse but I'm sure plenty of mums can relate to feeling like they're left to deal with all school and life admin while DH swans off to do his own thing. I loved the Liz character too.

I enjoyed them both the same but for different reasons.
The Jennifer Saunders episode was my stand out favourite. I've watched it twice now and it was even better second time around.

I'm just watching After Life for the first time and the Liz/Diane Moran is fabulous in that too.

I couldn't make it through one episode; it was totally unfunny. The main character's constant face pulling was painful.

I really liked it, the bit where she gets smacked with the ball, Ann with her usual chatter.

The R kelly bit was really funny I do have to say 🤣.
I just really want Motherland back though!!

Motherland won’t be back though unless the kids are teenagers. And if it did come back, Liz, Kevin, and Julia and the other mum with lots of children would have to move to SoNo. Motherland could work without Amanda and Anne but they’re such strong characters. That’s the main reason Amandaland was probably started, they liked Amanda and thought she was a strong character, then Anne too for same reasons.

Youre right, i dont think they could bring it back unfortunately but maybe if they kept the kids out of it as much as possible but still kept the dynamic between Julia Liz and Kevin and Meg? I dont know i just think its such a shame. I definitely preferred Amanda in motherland though and her mum.

I disliked the first couple of episodes but it grew on me. R kelly 😂

I just watched the Christmas episode. That was funny- Jennifer Saunders really made it! That was the best episode out of the series.

I miss Liz, Kevin, all the mums! Liz cutting her finger off in the pilot was the funniest thing ever! I’ve done similar!

Is Johannes returning? Loved the character. The snake bite!

Anne said something about LSE - ‘oh that’s where I did my PhD’ then Amanda said ‘yes but that’s not a degree is it?’ 🤣😂🤣
