Thank you @Blondeshavemorefunfor the heads up. 💐

EveryKneeShallBow · 04/02/2026 09:42

Oh dear that sounds awful! Thanks for sharing, blondes, but I don’t think it’s for me, even with Sir Michael Palin.

Midmeddlecum · 04/02/2026 10:02

I don’t quite know what to expect with this, especially as I’m not particularly a fan of fantasy/magic stuff. But Detectorists is one of my all time favourite series, and Mackenzie Crook is so good. Also Pearce Quigley is a brilliant, underrated actor who I have liked in everything I’ve seen him in.

Blondeshavemorefun · 04/02/2026 14:29

Agree not quite sure about it but then ie as the same for the show on Saturday and waiting for the out and loving that

i will give it a try and see

I've watched 3. Not sure what to make of it.
To be fair, I felt the same way about The Detectorists

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/02/2026 15:00

You've watched three episodes of something that isn't broadcast until tomorrow night at 10pm?

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/02/2026 18:16

I’m guessing it’s all on iPlayer

tinyspiny · 09/02/2026 20:32

We are going to try this mainly because Pearce Quigley is one of my favourite actors .

Bougainsillier · 09/02/2026 20:52

The whole series in on iplayer

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/02/2026 20:54

It does annoy me they put it all up before starts on tv

why they can’t do what they did with line of duty or happy valley

the waiting was wonderful

Agree @Blondeshavemorefun

I absolutely loved him in Detectorists.

His 'Please NO!' when Terry was offering to repeat his buttons speech was one of the funniest things I've ever heard.

Oh so it is - wasn’t yesterday. Usually they leave it until release date and then upload the whole thing.

Wallabyone · 09/02/2026 21:42

I love MC-he’s written and produced this, hasn’t he? Detectorists and Worzel Gummidge are two of my favourite tv programmes 😊 It does sound a bit bonkers but I will give it a go.

viques · 09/02/2026 21:46

I think this will be marmite. Personally pass me the knife and spread it on thick.

I thought it was beautifully written ( MC writes dialogue that is so perfect, I imagine the actors find it so easy to learn and speak it). The idea is decidedly odd, and I am really not sure how it will pan out - will there be prophecies, will they be accurate -but in the meanwhile I am enjoying the main characters and the revelations about them, some you love, some you find irritating, but they are fresh and interesting and MC writes even the irritating characters with humanity and kindness.

And Michael Palin is wonderful as a man with dementia who lives his life in a slightly skewed world for the most part but occasionally surfaces and shows us that deep inside is a man who has lived an extraordinary life and still remembers and loves his son. Very moving.

Pinksmyfavoritecolour · 09/02/2026 21:56

I want to binge it all, it’s wonderful, great cast, great acting, best thing I’ve watched in ages so far. Mackenzie crook is very clever and so creative.

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/02/2026 22:01

here we go

ps I love marmite

MC is a fantastic writer and I know I’m going to love this ! So whimsical, yet oddly believable too!!

stickybear · 09/02/2026 22:36

Absolutely loved that first episode, the scenes in the DIY store really made me laugh and Michael Palin was great. Similar feel to Detectorists in many ways, including similarly lovely music. Looking forward to the rest.
