I also couldn't disagree more with regards to the mugger. I don't think it was drugs, I just think he was desperate because of being jobless and the COLC. And he wanted to believe, because he wanted to be a better person. That was part of the magic and joy of this programme, that being around kindness and good people could make you better.

How was it sad and tragic? Didn't it show how stupid muggers are, either on drugs or just a bit thick?

No not at all. I don't think he was meant to be a drug addict. Just someone who doesn't know any other way of life. He seemed a lost soul, living a life he doesn't actually want to be in but doesn't know how to to get out. Perhaps not the brightest and didn't have the support he needed growing up so ended up in the wrong crowd. Thinking he'd met Father Christmas was like a jolt back to the child he was before things went the wrong way. I even found myself wondering if it was a turning point for him, wouldn't that be lovely?

Think that's what MC does so well. Scenes that are funny and ridiculous on the surface but often with many deeper layers which are open to interpretation.

Loved Michael's improvisation of things he needed, like the robes and his incense holder, the two tinfoil takeaway cartons. 😂

And that is fine we all see and interpret different things.

For example I felt more sorry for the jobsworthy, socially awkward boss who the main character treats like crap nipping off every 5 mins and imo the mugger was just a thick crim who was probably hallucinating on ket rather than wistfully reminiscing about Christmases gone past. Probably mugged the next person who came along Grin.

But as I say we all see different things and this was certainly watchable.

Butteredtoast55 · 09/03/2026 16:46

@Gloriia I did feel for him too! I think there's a whole back story there, beautifully encapsulated by the woman who asked after his Mum. I think there's never a word wasted with MC's writing so the boss (Gordon?) has his own story that we may yet uncover 😊

GrillaMilla · 09/03/2026 21:02

I'm not thinking that deeply when I watch 😂
it was just a funny scene with a dozy mugger

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/03/2026 22:37

titting boxes 😂

Can someone jog my memory regarding Bea, please. I thought that she was Clea's business partner but Michael didn't recognise her when she came to the door. Was she Clea's partner, or just claim to be?

While I'm at it: what's with the coals? One set burnt a hole in the roof, another set was on the pavement by the rabbit and the last set was in the car park at Tools. Are they connected to the humunculi that didn't hatch?
And why wasn't Brigham doing his uncontrollable giggling thing this week?

So many questions.

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/03/2026 13:03

She claimed to be to get the bird book

Clea.

GrillaMilla · 17/03/2026 19:01

Is she the one writing to his dad from Canada? Pretending to be the dead friend?

I wonder how they would do a second series, more Prophets maybe??
