Thought I’d sound the KLAXON and round everyone up for some Strictly chat about possible/rumoured contestants. They usually start announcing soon!

The show dances can be disappointing, although better recently, I think, and the few outstanding CCs would have been great in the final.

Agree. Her actual show dance was underwhelming, as I remember. But of course she'd already won it by then, so it was immaterial.

Biggest surprise in that VT was Stefan, yes. He had a bit of go about him and some rhythm. Fair play, he looked comfortable.

Yes, George Clarke making no effort was cringy and Dani Dyer looked awkward and uncomfortable. Stefan was on point

I assume George's was meant to be funny, as in two left feet and cheese it. Dani looked like awks, yes, and the love hands for Love island, poor lass, "this is what you're famous for" - although Thomas "here, look business-y on your mobile" took one for the team there

Danni looked so wooden and Ross King has no rhythm at all!

Alex Kingston looked surprisingly self-conscious for an actor. I hope she's better than that suggests.

Can't really tell from this short clip. Also I think some were deliberately under dancing, if that is a word.

I was thinking he dances well for having a false leg. Then realised thats Paul, not him!

Has anyone seen @PolkadotsAndMoonbeams she’s the thread OG and normally swaps in and out with me on Thread Duty. I’m not here on the 20th but I will start a thread that night before I leave. Hopefully it won’t fill to 1,000 before I get back but I may need someone to sub in. Organise nearer the time.

Apparently Luba and Nancy aren’t getting partners this year (plus Gorka which we already knew about). Not particularly bothered about this - nothing against Luba or Nancy but neither of them has ever done anything particularly memorable for me.

I love Luba she terrifies me a little bit i bet shes been dancing and competing since she was 3 years old and is just very disciplined!

Me neither but I'd have liked to have seen Luba paired up with the lovely lioness whose name escapes me.
I thought with numbers there would need to be a fourth benchee, but it's been a while since I looked at it.

Just checked: 15 couples, 20 pros, so a fourth pro will also have to sit out this year?
I also think Luba and Nancy were "safe" choices re potential speculation, so easier to use as subs without gdpr issues. Nancy doesn't need marching powder, she's naturally manic.
The fourth might end being poor Neil again, but I still wouldn't put a bet against an Ellie pairing to boost his following and give her a shorter partner.

I suspect at least one of the newbies won’t have a partner.

You'd think but they need

1. A distraction from other headlines
2. Younger pros (see my previous post upthread with ages)
3. More outreach via socials to capture the youth audience (their objective not my opinion)

So
New young female American pro does TikToks a lot and may get George Clarke as a result
New young male Aussie pro is youngest next to Kai who's had a hard paper round as well as mess with Nadiya as well as liking Trump so gets to be the new eye candy

I think they will both get partners, same as Vito/Carlos/Nikita in their first year.
