Thought I’d sound the KLAXON and round everyone up for some Strictly chat about possible/rumoured contestants. They usually start announcing soon!

Yes i agree Rose's dance was beautiful, I also thought Bill Baileys was great and not mournful.

Couldn't agree more. I also get sick to death of hearing about people's nans and mums and kids - I don't care! Claudia is the worst for cooing over contestants relatives - stop it Claude!

@SequinsandSoleros I haven’t watched every routine and I haven’t watched any of Meryl’s. Will rectify that

The rare good couples choice : Bill, Faye, Rose does not outweigh the number of dross Couples Choice’s there have been. Needs to be rested.

Scrap CC, theme weeks, and excessive CGI.

The CGI at least seemed to have replaced the fucking around for half a dance with props!

I would like it if on some weeks they all had to do the same dance, it would shower weaker/stronger dancers more as you could genuinely compare them.

Back in the olden days, everyone has to do either a waltz or a cha cha in week one. It was much more reasonable than expecting people to do a jive or a samba as their first ever dance

The CGI has managed to make me feel nostalgic for the props.

I preferred Couples Choice when they had to pick contemporary/theatre jazz/street commercial. While I’d still rather traditional ballroom/Latin, at least these three styles have some defined judging criteria.

The transition of Couples Choice into ‘do whatever you feel like’ has been to its detriment, I feel.

Yes I preferred it when they all had to do the same dance each week. It made it easier to see who was better or worse. The themes are so tired and silly most of the time. Couples choice is awful in the main.

A dance like the Tango requires mastery of the basics. The Tango is my fave and 1st Week Tango makes me sad. See also, wrong mismatching music for the Tango, doesn’t seem to happen to other dances.

1st week Samba is dire unless you are Kelvin paired with goddess Oti.

CGI
faffing around at the beginning
dry ice
other people (in Blackpool)

I love:-
classic dances that look like they’re traditionally supposed to look
music that matches
start straightaway

They used to do a red button view from one place so you could see how they moved across the floor, that was good.

Oh I don't like a early tango either i prefer them mid series where they belong.

I largely agree, but Chris and Dianne’s ‘other people’ routine, where he had to have his timing exactly right to do all the tricks and hit all the significant moments, was a marvel.

Just read a report saying Lewis Cope is a massive ringer. Been dancing since aged 10 and appeared on Got To Dance aged 18.

Good! I will probably be voting for him.🙂

Yeah I never vote for ringers but I get why you have one just to show some dancing ability early on.

The occasional wow CC could have been amazing showstopping finals dances. I still think Rose's CC could have made a breathtaking show dance.
