What’s the best TV Series you’ve watched in the last 5 years?

For me it’s the German Series Dark on Netflix and the American series 1883 which is Paramount + but has now turned up on Netflix.

Dark which was about time travel really made you think and 1883 about Pioneer life/Cowboys was just quietly beautiful

A Place to Call Home, Australian TV series.

I agree. I especially liked the strong female characters in this drama.

@Scorchio84 definitely Don. He was capable of great kindness but Roger only ever thought of himself and avoiding difficult issues. But my real crush was Lane! Fabulous actor.

Roger adored Joan, though, and respected her, I thought (in his 50s way anyway!), and I liked him for that.

It's A Sin, Normal People and The Serpent.

We are just reaching the end of series 1 of Pachinko which is on Apple TV. It’s absolutely brilliant - about the experiences of Koreans in Japan in the run up to, and after, WW2 and up to the present day, told through the eyes of one family.

It’s brilliant - fantastic cast, really engaging story and the best opening credit sequence ever. Totally recommend.

Apologies, I haven't read the full thread.

I've just finished Rivals, loved it. Read the book back I the early 90s. Cast and music were fab, I've loved Danny Dyer for ages. I liked the series he was in last year set in Australia on Channel 5 but can't remember what it's called!

Succession
Harlots
Line of Duty
Happy Valley
Time
It's a Sin
Homeland

Need to think of more.

YourOnMute · 24/05/2025 00:15

Fargo

Shogun
Spiral (not sure if this makes the five years)
Chernobyl

Piggywaspushed · 24/05/2025 12:43

It's A Sin, Line Of Duty, Happy Valley, Queen's Gambit, The Bridge, State of Happiness, Unforgotten, Call My Agent. There are probably more. I really like The Gardener recently.

Piggywaspushed · 24/05/2025 12:43

Oh , and Say Nothing.

Piggywaspushed · 24/05/2025 12:44

Oh just remembered The Newsreader. Brilliant.

Piggywaspushed · 24/05/2025 12:46

Arran2024 · 24/05/2025 15:21

2 others, which are pretty old now, but I watched them recently, are :

In Treatment, with Gabriel Byrne, where he plays a therapist - each series he has 4 different clients, whose sessions unfold over the weeks while battling his own issues

The Good Wife - one of the best shows I have ever watched, though it dragged a bit towards the end.

Hollyhobbi · 24/05/2025 23:42

The Capture.
Dark.
Slow Horses.
Foundation.
3 Body Problem.
Extrapolations.
Bad Sisters.
Kin.
Derry Girls.
Severance.
Secrets We Keep which is new on Netflix. Just binge watched it.

I loved the good wife , hated the season where they weren't in court as much I think that's the final season if I remember right, the good fight was pretty good as well. The court scenes are so interesting

BobnLen · 25/05/2025 09:29

I'm still waiting to see The Good Fight series 5 and 6 to stream free somewhere, I have been waiting a long time

Hope you like it. There was a reboot a few years ago with a woman as the therapist but I haven't seen it.

Member984815 · 25/05/2025 09:40

I watched it as it was going out on rte but they were hopeless at advertising when it was a new season coming out , meaning I'd accidentally come across it and have missed the first episode. If you can get the rte player where you are all seasons of the good fight are on it
