For me it’s the German Series Dark on Netflix and the American series 1883 which is Paramount + but has now turned up on Netflix.

Dark which was about time travel really made you think and 1883 about Pioneer life/Cowboys was just quietly beautiful

I'm currently binging Mad Men. I love it. It's one of those series that you want to watch again without having seen it. I'm trying to eke it out but it's so good, I'm trying to limit how much I watch per night. I'm just about to start season 5.

I did it recently! It's still so good

Scorchio84 · 16/05/2025 23:34

Oh yeah now I remember the one I forgot "Rivals" I LOVED it! (twice)

Did no one else watch Versailles?? It was on during lockdown I think. A bit much sex but enjoyable, a lot of attention when it first came out as British actors and in English, oh, well at least it had the best theme tune ( with Succession’s theme a runner up).

I'm doing a course where Versailles and the history needs to be understood. Lets just say many of us are probably spending far more time on this series than we need to. It came in handy - we did a private tour of Versailles = lets just say when the serious tour guide mentioned things we just nodded politely and smirked privately. (But we got to see the Hall of Mirrors with no-one else there - now that was even better than Versailles!)

I only caught this once on BBC looked good

GabrielOakRose · 19/05/2025 14:15

I enjoyed Behind her Eyes on netflix. I thought the astral projection stuff was a bit original.

volingaround · 19/05/2025 14:58

Bloody hell I loved Versailles, watched it as a lonely expat in Europe a few years before it aired in the UK and was completely obsessed, although I did kinda fancy the guy who tried to drown a baby in the first episode 🫣 (I also fancied Jaime Lannister - these men have layers I tell you! Layers!)

I do have sensible choices for my actual favourite shows but will have to take a moment to fan myself.

Mad Men is absolutely my favourite tv series. My dh hadn’t seen it, so we watched an episode or two a night for the past couple of months. He loved it so much he bought a bottle of Canadian Club to drink while watching it! The characters-even though they are sometimes shits, they’re likeable. The clothes. The ads. We’re so sad it’s over-he now wants to go back and watch it all again😂,

Scorchio84 · 21/05/2025 03:02

@MrsJoanDanvers Roger or Don?

Scorchio84 · 21/05/2025 03:03

I loved this series.. apart from ER it's the one

BlueEyedBogWitch · 21/05/2025 05:23

Succession, hands down. For my money, it’s the best TV drama ever made.

Yes, definitely, I have watched it twice, it's on Prime at the moment.

MrsJoanDanvers · 21/05/2025 09:03

@Scorchio84 definitely Don. He was capable of great kindness but Roger only ever thought of himself and avoiding difficult issues. But my real crush was Lane! Fabulous actor.

Mr Bates and The Post Office - I’m still shocked and angry by the whole situation those poor people found themselves in

That was a good one I'm from Australia and didn't really know about it but it was a great watch I also saw the interview with Mr Bates and how his still fighting to get the money back for the people
