Another one here who failed to understand the flashbacks until well into episode 2. By then I had concluded that series was rubbish, mediocre acting and an absurd plot. I decided to look at reviews, and found this from New Statesman:
https://www.newstatesman.com/culture/tv/2024/07/the-jetty-yet-another-laughable-insulting-show-about-crimes-against-women

I'm actually glad I watched those two episodes because it led me to the review which made me laugh out loud, and not much does these days.........I especially like the phrase: 'The ridiculousness builds like gas in a party balloon.'

The Jetty: Yet another laughable, insulting show about crimes against women

I’m weary of listening to homilies about male violence from characters who are otherwise strikingly inarticulate.

Lots of people found it a bit confusing I think.
I admit i didn't watch episode one that well , so by not paying attention at first the timeline plot did pass me by.
I think it can take a while for some dramas to become clear sometimes

Violetparis · 18/07/2024 20:54

Turned it off part way through episode one because of the horse incident. Totally gross and unneccesary. I feel sorry for the young actress.

WeAreOnTheRoadToNowhere · 18/07/2024 22:21

The horse incident was 🤮
The whole thing was a fetishists dream

KnickerlessParsons · 18/07/2024 23:50

I do sometimes wonder about people’s ability to follow a story.
How could it possibly not be clear that there are two timelines once you hit episode 2?!
Ember has several flashbacks of her husband when he was younger (obviously her husband as he’s in her house/with her daughter) and we see the same guy with Amy at the same age. I mean come on….

I am absolutely hopeless at recognising people, particularly if they change their hair or clothes or if I see them out of context. Hence don't always pick up on these things

Brooklyn70 · 19/07/2024 03:30

Wasn’t bothered about end of episode 2, found that character pretty annoying.

the80sweregreat · 19/07/2024 08:00

A lot of dramas have actors in them that look similar snd a lot seems shot in the dark or complex plot lines.
No wonder people ( me ) lose track at times!

lazymum99 · 19/07/2024 18:06

I enjoyed the first 2 episodes and clicked straight away regarding the timeline! But episodes 3 and 4 went straight into channel 5 territory. Such a shame.

Irrelevant to the story but I live in the place it was filmed. The lake is my journey to work and it was really interesting to see the car parks cordoned off with all the film entourage in there early doors on my way to work.

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/07/2024 21:25

@Hepzibar I love seeing programmes that are filmed near me

Or the house ones

I’m on episode 4, I’m not enjoying it and finding it a bit rubbish but my husband and I are bored. 🥱 he seems to be watching it with a little more interest than me.

really hate the mothers character….shes a piece of work.
really find Ember smug and one dimensional. Not sure if it’s the character or jenna Coleman but god I dislike her. Total know it all with zero likeable qualities.
why is ember telling everyone confidential police intel?
the daughter is also horrible
all the characters seem horrible and unlikeable so im not rooting for anyone.
Everyone of the characters seems to hate each other so much is silly.

So she has been blaming men and how horrible they all are except when her husband gets accused, then she blames her choices on her mother?

But how did Ember and the 2 girls not know each other, weren't they at school together?

Bettyfromlondon · 20/07/2024 16:47

I gave it my best shot but gave up after twenty-five tedious minutes. Can't stand the fashion for filming in the dark! Even day time scenes are dimly lit. Enough of this nonsense!!

the80sweregreat · 20/07/2024 17:37

I looked up when it was filmed and it was between September and December apparently, so might account for the fact I couldn't see most of it ! lol

Karmaisagod · 20/07/2024 19:11

I'm enjoying this. Have watched episodes 1 and 2, and I'm watching 3. What episode is the TV pace at?

purpleme12 · 20/07/2024 19:17

We've seen the first two

the80sweregreat · 20/07/2024 19:41

Only two episodes been on so far !
I think the last ones are on next week ?

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/07/2024 20:03

Yes 3 Sunday /tomorow and 4 Monday

Wonder if Riz's missing phone is because of Ember's messages about Mack, someone protecting her and him?

PrincessScarlett · 21/07/2024 22:14

Well that was a bit frustrating and depressing. All those dodgy bastards in the pub and Ember is the one arrested for not saying sooner than she's just found out her dead husband might be a dodgy bastard 🙄

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/07/2024 22:21

Well that was an exciting hour. Silly hannah. Never ever send naked pics of yourself as you just don’t know who will see them

It looks like Mack is guilty but hopefully it will be his best mate instead. Arj or maybe jo

So did ember take over Mack’s phone which seems a bit weird. Surely she has her own number when met him so why have his ?

So kitty’s mum is in the home. I didn’t reliese that but surely If they haven’t seen kitty she could be a dead victim as well so why is no one looking for her the past x number of years

Hitch can’t be a policeman and have friends who are naughty - he didn’t take the test. Hope he didn’t sleep with Miranda …..

Same with the step dad. Why didn’t he say course I will take the test to prove his innocence

Not sure why pi wife so annoyed with phone call and more the fact he let himself found so easily
Via car reg

Not a very good detective imo

Bone fragments. Are we going to find amy dead in the boathouse in e4 and maybe kitty

Ember should have said to hannah and then to her boss about Mack /suspicions esp if he has a record

But I still feel it’s too obvious to be him and say best Nate arj

Roll on tomorrow night

Really enjoyed this. Hope e4 is as good

I'm guessing noone is looking for Kitty as her dad is saying she left wanting nothing to do with them and the mum seems a bit doolally so noone will listen to her.

So gross that it appears that Liam is pimping out all those school girls to the men of the village. I hope Hitch isn't involved and I'm starting to wonder if Ember's police boss is involved what with her being arrested to deflect from what is actually going on.

Feel desperately sad for Miranda, she looks absolutely broken.

PrincessScarlett · 21/07/2024 22:30

Super creepy when Joan was chanting Malachy at Ember.
