It took me way too long to pick up that there were two different timelines 🤦‍♀️

Are there? I'm two episodes in and hadn't realised 😳

1975wasthebest · 18/07/2024 06:19

It took me way too long to pick up that there were two different timelines

I only bothered with the first episode, but I also had no idea of the two timelines.

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/07/2024 10:18

I am amazed so many of you didn't get the two timelines

I did 😛😛😛😛

Didn't it click on when they said Amy

Ans we knew amy went missing 17yrs ago

Oh and child life insurance is generally only £10k or so. To pay for a funeral. You can't insure them for tons unless they produce an income thus creating a financial loss when they die

Must have been a lot more than that as house has been beautifully done up

So I was thinking more like £100k

The dual timelines weren’t obvious.

Anyone watched it to the end? Does it improve?

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/07/2024 10:33

Improve ?

Do you not like it

I'm really enjoying tho only seen 1&2

Roll on 3&4 sun and mon

That lady knew ember from school and it appears ember did not know Amy from school. I suppose it's not clear that ember dod not kbow Caitlin, Caitlin could have been in embeds year but no friends. But her friendship with Amy didn't appear hidden (ie hanging around together and bunking out of detention together so it would be very mad if that lady is Caitlin s as bd no one is asking her about her dead friend!

burnoutbabe · 18/07/2024 10:40

And yes the insurance pay out is clearly high but it's just unrealistic in real life to be able to insure a kid for that much (unless they are say a tv star/sports person)

butterpuffed · 18/07/2024 12:10

Wouldn't the insurance have only paid out for a child if their death certificate had been shown ?

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/07/2024 12:11

Seems kitty and Amy Both had no friends

Amy as people looked won on her /thought she was a slut

Kitty not sure why but her mum didn't know how to react with friends over and kitty said she didn't have any friends

I thought someone had to be missing for over seven years before the family can claim insurances? Only something I've read / heard previously, but I admit I don't know much about it.

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/07/2024 12:35

Agree 7yrs so maybe it was 8yrs ago they got the money

pointlessopportunity · 18/07/2024 12:43

The flash back story was confusing as their houses looked sooo old fashioned... not like homes from just 17 years ago

It took me two episodes to realise the 2 women are amy and her friend

pointlessopportunity · 18/07/2024 12:43

The final episode becomes totally bonkers

What a silly far fetched story

It was very poor. Terrible ending

We have just watched the first episode and were looking forward to watching the rest over the next couple of days. However, not now going to bother. Most of it seems to be shot in the dark and if not, the picture is so dark as to be really difficult to see even in supposed daylight. So irritating. Not going to waste our time. A pity since I really like Jenna Coleman.

Also feeling dubious after the first episode. The Ember character seems to have trouble remembering her accent, and a lot of the others seem to be 'Central Casting Northerners'. My DH from Lancashire said 'It's grim up north, but not this grim!'.

WeAreOnTheRoadToNowhere · 18/07/2024 17:30

They tried too hard to make her fierce and gritty imo. She just came off as narky
Trying to copy Happy Valley?

Piggywaspushed · 18/07/2024 17:49

Re accents....Jenna Coleman is from Lancashire so her accent is authentic , just not strong.

Faffandahalf · 18/07/2024 18:08

I do sometimes wonder about people’s ability to follow a story.
How could it possibly not be clear that there are two timelines once you hit episode 2?!
Ember has several flashbacks of her husband when he was younger (obviously her husband as he’s in her house/with her daughter) and we see the same guy with Amy at the same age. I mean come on….

aAlso they’re literally talking about the death of Amy Knightly 17 years ago and then we see a girl called Amy as a teenager. Clearly 2 timelines.

Can people really not connect those dots?!

Anyway it was really crap TV and the ending was so rushed. No resolution to many threads.

1975wasthebest · 18/07/2024 18:14

Was it really necessary to make bitchy and patronising comments @Faffandahalf ? The TV threads are always friendly and enjoyable to post on.

Sarvanga24 · 18/07/2024 18:19

It was E1 that the split timelines evaded me (and many others, it seems). Yes, obvious from E2 onwards.

Faffandahalf · 18/07/2024 18:57

Oops sorry. Pretty sure some ppl didn’t know from ep2 onwards either🤷🏽‍♀️ and I just found it really odd.
