I’m on E4 now.

I switched it off. Not interested in a teenager wanking a horse.

Upset me so much. Gratuitous ratings chasing. What the f was going through the writers head. Juvenile shite Turned off straight after that scene .

PrincessScarlett · 16/07/2024 22:55

I had to google when The Killers When We Were Young was released as thought it was far to modern to be 17 years old but no, I stand corrected, it was released in 2006.

Also wondering where Kitty is now.

And, why is Ember's mum so haunted by Amy? I mean, as a psychic she must realise Ember's husband was also Amy's boyfriend?

Arg/Arj whatever the dead husband's best mate is called, he said something interesting tonight. He said "he asked me to look out for his girls" or something like that. Could be interpreted as caring but also could be seen as sinister. By protecting the girls (on many levels!) did he kill the podcaster to stop the story coming out?? He's always there, both in scenes with Malachy in the past and in scenes with Ember.

I like her better in this than in some things. Probably because of the swearing.

It took me way too long to pick up that there were two different timelines 🤦‍♀️

I haven't seen two different timelines?

purpleme12 · 16/07/2024 23:14

Oh that's a spoiler isn't it ☹️

BIWI · 16/07/2024 23:18

No! It only became obvious at the end of episode one, when Ember found the photo

BIWI · 16/07/2024 23:18

... so not a spoiler

Xmasbaby11 · 16/07/2024 23:24

Well, it is pretty silly but quite enjoyable and it's only 4 episodes so I'm sticking with it!

Wondering why it was so badly investigated in the first place when it was a missing young girl. Surely the parents would have been desperate for answers? Or had they just written her off because she was so wild? Neither of them seemed right about the whole thing.

Why haven't they mentioned the role of Kitty to Amy - she was known as a friend at the time so would have been interviewed, and now too?

I'm also not keen on the husband's friend 'watching out for her' when she was friendly with her therapist. Inappropriate and possessive, unless he knows something about the therapist.

Xmasbaby11 · 16/07/2024 23:25

I also didn't pick up on the two timelines until I read it on here! It did make sense though - looked a bit dated.

Ok
I read the comments in real time when I watch it so to be fair poster had watched ahead.
Just watching first one now

PrincessScarlett · 16/07/2024 23:34

Very sad that Amy's parents just didn't seem to care about her whereabouts and Amy told Kitty she was invisible. You normally expect vulnerable girls to come from poor backgrounds but there's more and more being made nowadays of middle class neglect of kids.

purpleme12 · 16/07/2024 23:46

So she's doing this run and yet diverts off from it after one minute..

Disturbing

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/07/2024 00:04

I worked out the timeline due to the fuel being called Amy. Amy went missing 17yrs ago

So in E 1 I worked out (for once) the two time lines. Then confined at end of E 1 plus e1 recap

Why I like recaps so much

Just read that...

When did we get told that Amelia Bullmore was Ember's mother?

Hard agree that Ember is a very stupid name. It must be significant?

We haven't been told about Ember's mum in first episode.
The Guardian review was talking about the series as a whole

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/07/2024 00:13

I did wonder if was arj as the killer protecting his best mate Mack

Tho now seen e2 maybe kitty killed her as jealous ans broke her necklace

So Amy's dad lied about the day she went missing. And the passport

All coz he was led by his dick !

Guardian review gave a spoiler as physic as her mum

Agree Sylvia would have worked out the connection. Between Mack and Amy

Esp if seeing her daughter and guessing she was preg by then planned

Poor riz. Dead and who stole her laptop and killed her

Was it hinted that the dad was baby's dad. So Daddy rapes his daughter and mum knew

Putting my guess in now. Ember's mum did it.

purpleme12 · 17/07/2024 00:05

We haven't been told about Ember's mum in first episode.

Yes, I wish they would bloody stop doing that in newspaper reviews.

PrincessScarlett · 17/07/2024 06:53

We found out that the psychic is Ember's mum in episode 2 last night as Ember went round to see her and called her mum.

PrincessScarlett · 17/07/2024 06:54

I'm guessing that Japanese knotweed is relevant somehow as it was mentioned twice last night by Amy's dad and when Amy went to see Malachy at his work place.

the80sweregreat · 17/07/2024 06:57

Yes, the knotweed has to be relevant
Maybe she is buried under it ?
Wondered who did Riz in ?

Dulra · 17/07/2024 08:06

I thought last nights episode was much better. I am half thinking Kitty may have done something to Amy weird she has hardly been mentioned and no sign of her now so I assume she has moved on from the area. Definitely something up with Macks mate Arj too though.

deeahgwitch · 17/07/2024 08:40

Good thinking @Dulra

PrincessScarlett · 17/07/2024 08:43

Yes it's definitely weird that Kitty has not been mentioned once in the present day and there has been no sight of her so she's either moved away or something happened to her as well. You'd think that Riz would have mentioned Kitty as the key person who knows Amy the best.
