Will have spoilers below!

Have loved GA since it was first broadcast although don't think it's anywhere near as good as it used to be, so have been re-watching since the start.

I now can pinpoint its demise - season 6!

Starts with George's funeral, then the merger with the horrible people from Mercy West, Izzy leaving, the Chief drinking, Teddy arriving and all the angst with the Owen & Teddy! Too much change and too many new characters in a short period!

Before this, it was practically perfect & then season 6 onward is downhill all the way (with a few amazing bursts - the shooting episode; the musical episode - can't remember others right now but no doubt there will have been a few more to keep me watching).

Anyone else agree or think otherwise?

When they brought back Penny’s rural hospital boss at a later date, it really made no sense that Meredith didn’t try suing him/that hospital at some point.

I also thought it made no sense that he didn't know who she was at the hearing thing. I know the point was he was a dick who didn't remember, but Derek was supposed to be like a medical legend, and Meredith heading the same way. Surely he remembered her name?

This is the profile of chyler Leigh who plays Lexie Grey. She looks completely different. I can't work out if it's age, not having eyeliner the same or surgery!

Her jawline looks very different

Oh, absolutely! I mean, every magazine profile of Harper Avery winner Meredith Grey has gotta have a “following the tragic death of her husband Derek Shepherd at Backwoods Hospital” line in it

I'm on Penny at Merediths dinner party. I really don't like Meredith

Aw, we are watching similar episodes. I got to that one over the weekend.

GildedAge · 29/04/2024 07:43

I’ve got to the Covid series, which is difficult watching. How quickly we forget.

blobby10 · 01/05/2024 12:30

I'm in the midst of s11 and really struggling to want to keep watching. Meredith is really annoying me now but I can't put my finger on why.

DefinitelyMaryBerry · 01/05/2024 12:36

Ironically Meredith was always one of the worst parts of the show.

TheTimeIsNowMaybeNow · 01/05/2024 17:38

She annoys me and so does April

Later April is much better, though. Like Later Karev.

GildedAge · 01/05/2024 18:31

I liked April at the beginning, she was deliberately annoying but at least she made sense.

GA is also my comfort watch, especially the early seasons. I have lost count on how many times I’ve seen it. 007 breaks me each time. The “dance it out” before Yang leaves…I have that song on my playlist and always break into a dance when it’s on 💃
Alex leaving was awful and I couldn’t get through the covid season - it was too preachy for me.
I love binge watching so waiting for a few more to be available before I start S20

🥲🥹 the goodbye dance…..

God I cringed at that! And the 30 second dance party during a surgery

TesticularHeft · 02/05/2024 17:24

I'm at the but where deluca has been beaten up and everyone seems to be on Alex's side and not talking to deluca. Meredith is also not too pleasant at the minute - why doesn't she just tell Maggie she is sleeping/has slept with Riggs and some of the things she said to Amelia. I don't really remember series 12/13 from the first few times round but it's an odd one.

GildedAge · 02/05/2024 17:53

@TesticularHeft little things like that really annoy me, but then it happens in real life where people don’t communicate so maybe it is true to life.

The surgery one I found cringy too (let’s not start on the superhero pose in later series 🤣) but the last scene with Yang is so good!!

Rockfordpeach · 08/05/2024 22:12

Watching season 4 and honestly one of the saddest patients is the woman on Derek's brain tumour trial who died convinced that her boyfriend, Andre was a figment of her imagination and it turned out he was real. Breaks my heart everytime

Arconialiving · 09/05/2024 21:39

I know @Rockfordpeach , that was so sad. I think about her sister too not believing her & how guilty she must have felt also, with no way of saying sorry!

I've just got to this part and am sure there's a continuity error...Maggie states she knows his mum so will call her. Isn't his mum dead and his father in Italy?! (I've watched wayyyy too many times)

I think you are right, Carina said about flying to Andrew to tell him when their mum died, IIRC, and the implication was that Andrew was in his teens at the time.

TesticularHeft · 15/05/2024 10:49

When did Carina talk about the implications? I saw an episode recently where she talks of Andrew being coddled and she swept the cafe floors at 9 and that's why he was a mess over Sam bello leaving but I can't remember saying about the mum but that may be the time. If the dad was in Italy and the mum died, who looked after Andrew.

Yeah they did , apparently they'd forgotten they had killed her off

SheilaFentiman · 15/05/2024 14:08

His mum took Andrew to the US and Carina stayed in italy with her crazy dad. I think Andrew must have been 18ish - maybe away at pre med or med school? - when his mum died.

TesticularHeft · 26/05/2024 13:07

I finished the episode where Alex has left and writes the letters. It upsets me that he just left Jo but the way he has written the letters, you can't hate him.

It's definitely the Covid season where it gets shit. That's what I'm on now and I'm struggling to stay interested. Maybe because it's not that long ago I last watched them.
