Will have spoilers below!

Have loved GA since it was first broadcast although don't think it's anywhere near as good as it used to be, so have been re-watching since the start.

I now can pinpoint its demise - season 6!

Starts with George's funeral, then the merger with the horrible people from Mercy West, Izzy leaving, the Chief drinking, Teddy arriving and all the angst with the Owen & Teddy! Too much change and too many new characters in a short period!

Before this, it was practically perfect & then season 6 onward is downhill all the way (with a few amazing bursts - the shooting episode; the musical episode - can't remember others right now but no doubt there will have been a few more to keep me watching).

Anyone else agree or think otherwise?

Wow it’s like a cockroach that refuses to die. Much as I love it they will have work very hard to keep it fresh.

Every time I hear about it I think "god their fans must really hang on to stuff in life". Then I realise I am one of those fans.

SheilaFentiman · 04/04/2024 13:39

I do think it’s a proper reboot, though, with this set of interns and Grey, Avery, Karev etc gone

This is the profile of chyler Leigh who plays Lexie Grey. She looks completely different. I can't work out if it's age, not having eyeliner the same or surgery!

SheilaFentiman · 09/04/2024 16:26

I think it’s age and Botox!

this is a softer pic and more lexi

She was 29 when she left Grey's and is 41 now.

SemperIdem · 09/04/2024 16:55

She looks very different in the 2024 posts than she did in the 2023, it looks like she has had some ill advised work done to me.

She’s very naturally pretty, has never suited heavy makeup like she’s wearing in the most recent post.

Lexie and Mark died 12 years ago??

That makes me feel very old!

anyone else rewatching find the covid episodes really triggering? I'd forgotten so many of the little realities of life under covid. there was one scene about a new born baby meeting his grandad via zoom that was particularly hard as my first born had to meet her family the same way.

SheilaFentiman · 11/04/2024 07:29

I’m not doing a rewatch but I found a book set in covid with people working their police jobs around the guidelines to be quite tough

I'm sorry that happened to you. Tough times.

I'm not at those episodes yet. I think I'm on season 9, just watched the episode where they are told the hospital will be sold and they're looking at efficiency but I know exactly what you mean. It feels like another life. We get snippets of reminders but I can hardly believe it happened. I lost people close to me with video calls on death beds. Crazy.

I recently got a sky news notification about "the prime minister conducting a speech outside Downing Street" the other week and it gave me flashbacks to us waiting for the daily updates and once in a pub they even turned the football off and switched over to Boris giving big change updates (I think it was introduction of tiers or extending lockdown) and we all listened to it together) sounds like nothing but it was an odd experience.

I was off work ill for the first three days of this week and had a major GA binge!! I'm now up to halfway through S10. Was gutted that Mark and Lexie got killed off. It will be interesting to see where Webber's storyline goes - I'm up to where he's in hospital after being electrocuted and wants to die.

Still constantly amazed at all the shagging in the on call room - does anyone ever change those sheets? And how come there's always a free bed? and no one locks the door?!! And how do the interns and attendings all work through these terrible traumas and accidents and still never look tired or grubby or have smudged lipstick or mascara? And why are they wearing make up and jewellery in the OR? Callie had earrings on and Yang had a watch on in a recent episode!

I don't remember him getting electrocuted! What series?

Yes! I always see them wearing earrings and I've commented to DP as someone has chosen what earrings are appropriate to each person and ensured they are worn but surely it's not appropriate in an OR?!

Was that the Val McDermid one, out of interest?

I really struggle with reminders of Covid.

TTPD · 11/04/2024 20:14

@TesticularHeft I can't remember the series (maybe at the end of 9) but he gets electrocuted in a storm when the power goes out and he tries to fix it. It's the same thing that kills the intern Heather Brooks.

And it kicks off Shane going crazy with guilt as he was supposed to go to the basement but tricked Heather into it cos he wanted a surgery upstairs

TheTimeIsNowMaybeNow · 11/04/2024 20:25

I'm watching it for the first time, on season 6 now. Is it all down hill from here then!

No there are ups and downs but the whole thing is worth watching.

It must be. I'm on season 9 and we are getting to know these interns. Stephanie and Jackson are just getting together. No idea why Jackson and April can't be together at this time if they are both now starting to date others. It bugs me. On the current episode I don't think it's been mentioned that Matthew is also really religious. I remember they go to get married later.

TesticularHeft · 11/04/2024 21:11

Forgot to name change urgh.

TesticularHeft · 28/04/2024 10:04

I'm still ploughing through it. I'm on season 12. What I'm liking is all the now famous people that had bit parts - Millie Bobby brown was a kid on the phone saving her mum, the grandma from young sheldon etc. Nathan Riggs just turned up who will be Meredith's first love interest after derek. He's Jack from virgin river which I also love!

Arconialiving · 28/04/2024 10:32

I enjoyed that too @TesticularHeft !

ImCamembertTheBigCheese · 28/04/2024 13:42

I just rewatched the episode where Meredith goes into the water after the ferry disaster. Great acting.

TheTimeIsNowMaybeNow · 28/04/2024 22:16

I'm on Penny at Merediths dinner party. I really don't like Meredith

Haha I love that one. "Perfect Penny killed my husband".
