Grey's Anatomy rewatch

Have loved GA since it was first broadcast although don't think it's anywhere near as good as it used to be, so have been re-watching since the start.

I now can pinpoint its demise - season 6!

Starts with George's funeral, then the merger with the horrible people from Mercy West, Izzy leaving, the Chief drinking, Teddy arriving and all the angst with the Owen & Teddy! Too much change and too many new characters in a short period!

Before this, it was practically perfect & then season 6 onward is downhill all the way (with a few amazing bursts - the shooting episode; the musical episode - can't remember others right now but no doubt there will have been a few more to keep me watching).

Anyone else agree or think otherwise?

Also, I’m loving the new s19 interns as well. I don’t yet know what happens with Meredith and Nick but I really love them together.

I quite liked Hayes and feel like he left before he had much of a chance. Maybe it was bad timing.

I’ve given Owen a lot of leeway because I love all the trauma stuff, but he really is a shit isn’t he?

Agree re Kai - totally wooden, dreadful actor with no chemistry with Amelia at all!

You know who I miss? The IT literate intern
who saved the hospital in the cyberattack and then had a PTSD attack a few episodes later and was wheeled off, never to be mentioned again. Casey?

I feel like in the last few years they've introduced and then very quickly ditched a lot of interns!

I agree @SheilaFentiman, plus the Muslim lady, blond haired guy & Murphy. They all disappeared without trace! I found Murphy particularly baffling as why did they bring her back for her to simply disappear?!

Bailey fired Dr Qadri (for entirely spurious reasons, given they don’t fire interns for cutting LVAD wires!) but yeah, Leah was another one who disappeared without comment.

Which was the blond haired guy?!

It’s so weird when they are on about being chief resident and I am thinking “chief of what?? The others all left!”

I don't remember Qadri being fired at all. The blond guy had curly hair & was quite gormless. Think he ended up in hospital but can't remember why.

Just googled, he was called Isaac Cross.

Bailey fired Qadri for complaining that Dr Grey had been suspended/fired for insurance fraud and saying that she wasn’t learning anything. It was very un Greys!

Thanks - I remember that now although didn't realise she'd actually fired her then!

Also Joe that owned the bar & went fishing in season 1 - he just disappeared too!

IT need intern was a terrible actor as well. I didn’t like that batch of interns at all, they were all hopeless in different ways. Schmidt irritates the hell out of me.

I miss Stephanie, I though she was brilliant.

He did, but I always assumed he took a step back from running the bar, it’s still called Joe’s

I guess people leaving is a combination of people wanting to leave and weeding out bad actors. I guess if lots of one intern group choose to leave it makes it difficult to write storylines for the rest.

Yeah, my understanding is that Shonda et al didn’t want Stephanie to leave, but the actress had another job come up. They gave her a good send off at least and a reasonably logical reason for leaving the programme.

I think it has been hard to write for 5 new interns each year when the writers still needed storylines about the more mature doctors. There just wasn’t time!

Just a passing mention of where they've gone would do for me @SheilaFentiman, don't need any sort of big send off!

yes - it would be very easy to comment that Parker was getting treatment and transferring to a surgical programme near his family, or that Leah decided to pursue a different branch of medicine.

half my Facebook feed seems to be grey’s memes these days and honestly, it annoys me that Addison wouldn’t have met Derek’s kids earlier than she did in the show.

I made this point a while back. I would have loved more focus on that batch of interns but they just got rid of half the class. Sam went to Switzerland, qadri was fired, Roy was fired and Parker left. I think they had a lot of potential.

Murphy was in the same class as Jo not Helm and Schmidt.

Not sure how true it is but pretty little thing has shared on Facebook that greys anatomy has been renewed for season 21.

Camilla Luddington (plays Jo) shared it on Instagram as well so I assume it is properly confirmed.

Wow it’s like a cockroach that refuses to die. Much as I love it they will have work very hard to keep it fresh.

I've watched the first episode of the new series. It was good. I think focus on the new interns really helped.
