I'm looking forward to this...born in a Notts pit village, brought up in Sherwood.

I saw the trailer and it resonates. ( Not the murder bit)

I bet they won't have the accent right though.. it'll sound Yorkshire.

Mogloveseggs · 11/06/2022 20:30

Sounds intriguing I will definitely watch thanks

MrsLargeEmbodied · 12/06/2022 07:53

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/06/2022 08:51

I'm from an East Mids pit village so was worried about the accents (normally end up being Yorkshire) but just checked out the trailer and they seem to have it right which bodes well. Interesting to see how the areas are portrayed, expecting it to be all terraced streets and talking about the miners strike but let's see!

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/06/2022 20:08

Yes they usually totally cock up accents

thi remember on the best and all said they line of duty bloke had a crap Scottish accent

but his was real😂😂

his London is fake

Got it taped in. Sounds like a great cast. Lesley Manville is my favourite actress

ImJustMadAboutSaffron · 13/06/2022 11:16

My cousin is in this!

butterpuffed · 13/06/2022 16:08

Looking forward to this, not seen a tv drama for a while .

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/06/2022 21:10

Joanne Froggatt ( sarah) was Angela black, that was a weird drama (ITV)
David Morrissey has aged well.
Lesley Manville will always be 'Mum ' too !

My cousin is in this!

Ooh who's your cousin?

I think it was good. Oh theme tune...I used to sing this ( Blackleg miners) when I was on the folk circuit.

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/06/2022 22:01

Finally we had the murder. 35m in

so who do we think did it and why

OP posts:
SpindleSheWrote · 13/06/2022 22:21

I was going to post as we went along, but MN has been so unusable since just after 9pm that I couldn't.

Anyway, I thought it was good. I was a young adult during the miners' strike.

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/06/2022 22:22

Ah. Watched the end and arrow man was the son. Is that right q

got confused. Doesn’t take much with me 😂😂

We're enjoying it.
I'm born and bred Notts too. Left 30 years ago. I thought some of the accents were really good. Although Alun Armstrong just sounded Yorkshire with the odd 'Duck' thrown in for good measure. He's a good actor though, great cast.

Litthefirealready · 13/06/2022 22:52

Thought it was very good, had me hooked from the start.
was hoping it might have been on iplayer so I could binge but will have to enjoy it at normal speed.

Cocolapew · 13/06/2022 23:11

I enjoyed it great cast.

Xmasbaby11 · 13/06/2022 23:14

Good start - really good cast and set up, though it doesn't feel very modern despite being set in present day.

Penguinsaregreat · 13/06/2022 23:26

I really enjoyed tonight's episode. Not the usual gratuitous violence, although yes there was a murder. Some great actors in it too.

TonTonMacoute · 13/06/2022 23:39

I thought it was good but I found the 'good cast' really distracting. I know it's sounds a bit weird but it just had everyone in it, all really familiar faces. It was difficult to think of them as characters, it was like a Children in Need night skit where they mix up two programmes as a joke.

Was the man in the taxi the sane man as the step son going to jail and we saw at end shooting and in a tent?

AlecTrevelyan006 · 13/06/2022 23:49

My wife spent the whole episode going ‘oh it’s her from Brookside, and the one from show about the womens football team and the bloke from Brassed Off… he was in Hustle wasn’t he? And what’s she been in before? Oh I remember now… and i recognise him from something…’

i actually had a look on IMDb and even Ace Bhatti makes an an appearance

The only person missing was Nottinghams very own Vicky McLure.
