Who was the actor that Joanne Froggatt gave the Tory leaflet to?

CrossPurposes · 14/06/2022 00:06

burnoutbabe · 13/06/2022 23:42

Was the man in the taxi the sane man as the step son going to jail and we saw at end shooting and in a tent?

No. The cab driver is related (son presumably) to the family that run the archery and axe throwing firm while the man in the tent was the one with the computers and stash of money.

I hope that's right.

AlecTrevelyan006 · 13/06/2022 23:49

My wife spent the whole episode going ‘oh it’s her from Brookside, and the one from show about the womens football team and the bloke from Brassed Off… he was in Hustle wasn’t he? And what’s she been in before? Oh I remember now… and i recognise him from something…’

i actually had a look on IMDb and even Ace Bhatti makes an an appearance

The only person missing was Nottinghams very own Vicky McLure.

It seems most odd that Vicky McClure wasn't in it 😀

burnoutbabe · 14/06/2022 00:15

I thought granddaughter of dead man's boyfriend was the son of archery people (with curly brown hair). So taxi driver is his brother? Had we seen taxi man before in the episode?

Blondeshavemorefun · 14/06/2022 05:18

I might need to rewatch

so the killer is the nephew of Gary. Freds son?

unusual to find out the killer in e1

Thought this was fab, really loking forward to ep 2! Great review and recap in Guardian.

PuppyMonkey · 14/06/2022 07:27

Everyone round here is saying the reason Alun Armstrong copped it is because he said NOTTS Forest at the start. Huge faux pas if you’re genuinely from Nottinghamshire. Grin

burnoutbabe · 14/06/2022 08:12

Okay the guardian recap confirms 2 different young blondish men.
Fred was arrow man in woods, off to jail

Rory is son of swallow family and drives taxi

absolutelynotfabulous · 14/06/2022 08:56

I was also waiting for Vicky McClure to make an appearance, although it took me a while to recognise Perry Fitzpatrick for some reason.

Does anyone know the filming location for the village?

PAFMO · 14/06/2022 09:01

Placemarking.

I'm from the town that the story is "loosely based on"

I shall get cross with the accent I expect. Joanne Frogatt isn't bad at doing us, but I agree they needed Vicky Mc or Neil Morrissey to help out.

PuppyMonkey · 14/06/2022 09:24

Andrea Lowe, who’s playing the blonde female cop, is from Nottingham, her accent is authentic.

Blondeshavemorefun · 14/06/2022 10:09

Another recap here

hinting at many killers. Gary was not a liked man !!

Was it too obvious to be Scott and we are made to think it’s him

maybe he’s running due to money stashed away

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 14/06/2022 10:10

Plus paddy from shameless was in it

lots of well known faces. A very good cast !!

FuzzyPuffling · 13/06/2022 21:59

Ooh who's your cousin?

I think it was good. Oh theme tune...I used to sing this ( Blackleg miners) when I was on the folk circuit.

Joanne Froggatt. Though I haven't seen the first episode yet!

Blondeshavemorefun · 14/06/2022 10:31

And Big Mac from casualty

im Thinking too obvious to be Scott

OP posts:
AlecTrevelyan006 · 14/06/2022 10:44

Scott’s dad with the cough was in Happy Valley

Algarythmnmadness · 14/06/2022 10:45

FuzzyPuffling · 11/06/2022 18:43

I'm looking forward to this...born in a Notts pit village, brought up in Sherwood.

I saw the trailer and it resonates. ( Not the murder bit)

I bet they won't have the accent right though.. it'll sound Yorkshire.

Yes it did indeed sound yorkshire, with the odd "duck" thrown in which sounded random and not authentic.

Overall I did enjoy it though, we live very close to Sherwood so will be interesting to see if they actually did film around there.

TonTonMacoute · 14/06/2022 10:46

The only person missing was Nottinghams very own Vicky McLure.

🤣

Springduckling · 14/06/2022 10:58

Thought it was really good. Agree loads of v well known actors. David Morrissey always seems to play 'the man in charge' , Pip Torrens plays v similar parts but is brilliant at it.
Good to see Joanne Froggatt playing a right cow instead of a wet victim type.

Blondeshavemorefun · 14/06/2022 18:52

So do we think it’s Scott or that that it’s someone else who killed Gary

OP posts:
FuzzyPuffling · 14/06/2022 19:03

I need someone to go to an ice cream van and ask for an "Orange sucker" for genuine authenticity!

FuzzyPuffling · 14/06/2022 19:04

ImJustMadAboutSaffron · 14/06/2022 10:22

Joanne Froggatt. Though I haven't seen the first episode yet!

Impressed!
(I thought you were going to say "third football playing kid from the left"!)

PAFMO · 14/06/2022 19:18

FuzzyPuffling · 14/06/2022 19:03

I need someone to go to an ice cream van and ask for an "Orange sucker" for genuine authenticity!

I'll go. Grin
And I'll gu t' foot er ar stairs if they ant got none.
(Baaaaaad transcription there, but the sort of thing I torment my efl students with at summer school)

QuebecBagnet · 14/06/2022 19:23

I’m another who’s quite local to Sherwood (and my mum is from Mansfield). Yes the accents aren’t right. Dh who’s from Yorkshire thought it was set in Yorkshire.

FuzzyPuffling · 14/06/2022 20:12

Thanks PAFMO. I think that was an excellent phonetic interpretation! I was transported back with every bit of it.
