For those who have seen all five episodes and binged it all.
Thought it was ok, very funny at times.

Why did amanda and her hubby split up?

JoanWilderbeast · 30/05/2021 19:38

I liked it but came away with the feeling that none of them are actually friends, more like casual acquaintances.

I think Kevin and Liz are friends.
kerstina · 04/06/2021 11:34

I am really late to the party as usual but I have just binge watched all three series and absolutely loved it ! Best thing on tele for years ! I am going to watch it again .
One of those programmes that takes you away from all the crap going on in your life and cheers you up.
Am I the only one who would love to see a proper love story with Amanda and Keith ?!

kerstina · 04/06/2021 11:35

Kevin I mean lol

I would say Kevin, Liz and Julia are good friends. Meg, Amanda and Ann are more acquaintances ?
AbsolutelyPatsy · 05/06/2021 17:52

bit bizarre that the school secretary was holding the school trip though

AbsolutelyPatsy · 05/06/2021 20:51

and julia's elusive husband was in Bluestone 42 although he looked different in this recent series and i wasnt sure it was him

mum2jakie · 06/06/2021 22:56

Julia's husband was the young lad in the Office who had a fling with David Brent's young house guest!

Ifimight · 07/06/2021 07:17

I thought the builder story line was fine. Julia is so used to trying to do absolutely everything that when someone comes in and gets stuff done without her having to micromanage, and spots and fixes problems no wonder she develops an infatuation!

I thought her husband turning up at the end was because he noticed she was getting a bit too ott with garry and thought he should do something to salvage it before its too late. Give it a couple of weeks he would be back to his useless self though. I loved ann losing it with Amanda and the times she's tried to stand up to her over the series but usually gets slapped back down - like the after party. Loved her putting Amanda on the spot with "what's my baby's name" and ann and her mammy were lovely. Weird how ann is probably the happiest of the lot of them with her considerate husband and however many children around to give her treats on mother's Day.

lollipoprainbow · 08/06/2021 19:03

I thought episode 5 was the best of the bunch, loved Anne finally losing it with Amanda and the end part when they all went to the pub !

I just discovered this and binge watched it all - gutted its over.

I didn't get the Garry obsession - agree with a PP who said they thought she was rude to him and all of a sudden she was mad about him. I didn't get it at all.
But I did think Paul turning up at the end was believable - I have a friend with an absentee husband and just when she gets to the point where it seems like she cannot take anymore and it looks like she's going to leave, he will pull something out of the bag and salvage things for another while. They seem to have a radar when they have pushed their luck too far.
He looked very nice as well!!

@avamiah

I just loved season 3, especially the episode with Joanna Lumley as Amanda’s mum In the restaurant and the part were Anne and her mum( who just came from Ireland) came into the restaurant and were so very kind and giving lots of compliments to Amanda and her mum saying how attractive and young they looked . I just loved that .
I'm Irish, and my (Dutch) bloke was in fits at that bit. I just said, 'I know which mum and daughter there I'd rather have a pint with!'
PennineWayinSlingbacks · 10/06/2021 00:20

Budge up, Ann!

BaconAndAvocado · 10/06/2021 08:21

Loved every episode!

The final episode was, for me, the best one. Fabulously funny as usual but with some more dramatic bits.

The part when Julia phones Gary the builder and talks about feeling unloved and unlovable made me very teary. Anna Maxwell Martin is a brilliant actor and it came across as very believable.

Equally, when Amanda received news that her ex DH is getting engaged was powerful.

Such a very fantastic and gorgeous series. Keeping my fingers crossed there’ll be another!

orangeblosssom · 12/06/2021 16:40

Binge watched the series. Very funny. The characters were more fleshed out this season and the improvised parts were particularly natural.

Rosewood017 · 12/06/2021 23:18

I also binged all three series and loved it! My kids aren't school age yet but I'm told each of these characters will appear at the school gate.

So funny. I liked the episode with the Nanny. And book day 'he's Connell from Normal People'.

Amanda is a great character. It's not clear why she & her husband divorced but I noticed he always walks off when she is being a cow to people like Ann, but sticks around when she is being tolerable.

mum2jakie · 19/12/2021 22:12

@MissScotland101 not sure if you have already managed to watch it but last year's Christmas special is being repeated at 10.20pm on BBC2 tomorrow night. It's a brilliant episode!

LidlCinnamonBun · 17/06/2022 21:01

Late to the party but I just watched all the series and the Christmas special.
Amandas tiktok dance was amazing!
