For those who have seen all five episodes and binged it all.
Thought it was ok, very funny at times.

@Ejk80 exactly

cherrytree63 · 21/05/2021 05:12

I really laughed for ages at Kevin "hiding" in the corner of the toilets when Mrs Lamb came out.
And Ann when she was at crutch level with Kevin.
Some really touching scenes too, I got leaky eyes when Julia was touching the tap, a tiny act of kindness but meant a lot to her.
Liz and her thin labia and Julia's thick ones, and Julia saying something about a heck of a hoof in lycra Grin

kirinm · 21/05/2021 09:31

@Waveafterwaveslowlydrifting

Julia's reaction to Kevin and Amanda shagging was priceless. And Mrs Lamb heard them talking about it in the toilets 😱
I loved this bit too!

I absolutely loved this series. The school catchment stuff is pretty accurate. I know people who've baptised their kids to get into schools. I also love Kevin and the scream as he reversed. And his coolness post shag with Amanda.

Loved Anne finally telling Amanda to piss off. Really really loved this series.

kirinm · 21/05/2021 09:33

I have to admit to have odd infatuations when I was married (divorced now). I think it was just being desperately unhappy.

Yes Kevin facing the corner had us howling too.

Same here, like that was going to help her not see him GrinGrin

Mrs Lamb really reminds me of the school secretary at my kids school though, can be nice/ can be scary you never know what you’re gonna get and she totally runs the school.

Pumpkinstace · 22/05/2021 19:27

I loved the but where Julia forgot world book day

blushroom · 23/05/2021 11:57

I LOVED manus going to world book day as Connell from Normal People Grin
I'm chuckling just thinking about it now.

ElderMillennial · 23/05/2021 12:38

I've watched all three series through again.

The one with the holiday cottage was good. They were all so selfish and mean to Kevin! No wonder his pig didn't cook with all the running around they had him doing...

I liked Anne and Kevin telling Amanda how it is in the last episode and then Amanda's dance Grin

I didn't really get the Julie and the builder thing. It started off where she seemed a bit rude to him and I thought she was trying to make it up to him and then all of a sudden she had this crush...

Whereismymojo · 23/05/2021 19:16

I just LOVED this series. In all the previous series’ I was slightly irritated by all of them but also curious enough to keep watching../ but this one I was DELIGHTED by all of them... Kev finding his backbone... Anne finally speaking up - the Irish racism stuff too - the bit about “Anne when you worked in Greggs” “no I was head of distribution for glaxo smith Kline” “no you worked in greggs” “no I was the head of distribution....” classic. And the WHAT’S MY BABY’S NAME bit.

Loved the builder crush... it all just worked... it was endearingly lovely and reminded me of Catastrophe for the first time. It gets better and better. Will there be another series??

desperatehousewife21 · 24/05/2021 08:03

We must at least be getting a Xmas special?? Hopefully.

I love it and so true that you are thrown together because you’re all mums/ stay at home parent and that’s really all you have in common but you hang out anyway and it just works

MissPilly · 25/05/2021 09:42

I’ve just finished series 3 and really enjoyed it. Great one liners from Liz.
Also glad that Kevin os finally getting some confidence, divorcing Jill and moving on. I think the friendships have developed nicely too. Did feel sorry for Amanda though, Johnny was quick to move on. She is so obsessed with herself she didn’t see any of it coming.

MissPilly · 25/05/2021 09:45

I would add that I thought Kevin and Amanda would get together simply as they were both going through a tough time with divcorce.

Newgirls · 26/05/2021 08:28

@plumpuddisnice

Just binged watched season 3. Loved it. I laughed at the part where Meg said I went to St Paul's Girls and probably beat you at hockey to Amanda, to which Amanda replies " I think I would remember if I'd met you at hockey " Meg: "oh yeah why's that". Amanda: 😳 It's the unsaid, because you're black. It just resonated so much with experiences I've had. I say that as a black female. The silent comedy moments are so well done.
That was brilliant writing.

Amanda wants Meg as her friend so badly and gets it so wrong

Newgirls · 26/05/2021 08:30

Brilliant writing brilliant performances all round. Loved it.

Hello65438 · 26/05/2021 12:27

@desperatehousewife21

I know a real life Amanda, she even looks just like her. Went to her kids birthday party years ago (when my DD was 4) and it was the most Amanda-like party ever. She even has a white, pristine show home style house too.
Ha I know a bit of a real life Amanda, too! Well, not so much series 3 Amanda. But def series 1 Amanda.
excelledyourself · 26/05/2021 22:13

Just finished series three tonight. I particularly liked when they were talking about Mother's Day and Liz said she thought Amanda had been hatched in a laboratory.

foxessocks · 27/05/2021 11:10

And she says "I'll take that as a compliment"!! Grin

lolitalola · 27/05/2021 13:19

@ApplyWithin

I always felt Kevin was jealous of that guy (I forget his name) being a better SAHD than him. I didn’t connect it to Amanda tbh.
That's what I always thought. I don't think he ever really fancied Amanda. They just shagged each other because they had a bit to drink and were both feeling rejected in their relationships with their partners.
lolitalola · 27/05/2021 13:29

I loved Amanda's TikTok dance!

MissScotland101 · 29/05/2021 07:57

I think S3 has been the best series yet! Every episode so far has made me lol, series 2 was shit in comparison to this one.

I felt for Amanda when she went out for lunch with her mum, Joanna Lumley, who was hilarious, but I now see where Amanda gets her bitchy personality from.

I liked Julia’s husband as well saying he too was in love with Garry the builder, I thought for a minute he was serious! I hope we see more of him.

I’ve watched up to episode 5 and there’s only 6 in a series yes? It just doesn’t go on for long enough.

Ep 5 is the last of the series.
MissScotland101 · 29/05/2021 08:16

Yeah I now know after reading this thread! I’ll have to go watch the Xmas one now as I didn’t see that!

MissScotland101 · 30/05/2021 08:50

Hi, I can’t find the Motherland xmas special on the iPlayer, can anyone help with this? This one isn’t on Netflix either and I’m surprised that it’s not on iPlayer as it’s only been 5 months and they usually show stuff for longer than that, I’m a bit gutted.

rc22 · 30/05/2021 10:20

My husband's a secondary school teacher and always complaining how secondary schools always put so much effort into trying to portray a slick, corporate image these days so we loved Liz's line at the open evening. "Told you it was a b*l*d factory!"
I thought it was sad when Amanda met Ann's mammy and you could see she realised that despite appearances, Ann actually had a much richer life than her because she had such a loving, caring, kind mother.

Also great in the last episode when Ann finally snapped with Amanda and Julia told her she was beautiful.
