Strictly 2020, Bubbles and no Bruno?

I’m not sure if there is a thread already, please direct me to it if there is!

It’s summer which means its the time of year I start musing about which celebs might be up for the glitter ball trophy this year! I was a bit worried we might not be getting a series this year but a quick google reassured me plans are in place.

So it looks like they are hoping for bubbles between the stars and professionals families, possibly weekly CV testing and temp checks. Hair, make up and costume to be done with PPE. Sounds like they could put on a fairly similar show to normal. No audience though, which will be weird. And I guess no gathering of contestants for the scores, which will be weird. Will the whole thing lack atmosphere?

I'm surprised it's going ahead, I thought they would have cancelled it at least a month ago.

I'll be pleased if it does, but if the rumours are true of Cheryl Cole replacing Bruno I'm not sure about that.. I'd like a professional dancer to take his place if he leaves, maybe Ian Waite? Or day I say it.. James Jordan?

So happy it's going ahead. I look forward to it every year. I like Cheryl but I really really hope she doesn't replace Bruno. She's not right for strictly at all. I also like the idea of no audience, mainly so I'm not jealous when I don't get tickets!

Please let it be Ian Waite to replace Bruno! However I’d take anyone with dance knowledge over Cheryl. I bet Anton has been smoozing up to the producers, he’d sell his soul for a place on the judges table.

Well Bruno is in LA so there is Bruno uncertainty and he does DWTS so maybe not able to fly back and forward.

Maybe Len could do it?

They just had to find a way to do it, if it wasn't on it would be a huge gap in the BBC offering for autumn. Also, rumours are that they'll get more high profile celebs this year as there's so little happening. I really hope Cheryl doesn't get it either, she isn't qualified to judge ballroom dancing.

I'd love Joe Wickes, and I reckon he'd probably be up for it..
I'd also like Jamie Laing to get another chance.
Oh and Gillian Anderson, Jodie Comer, and Steve Pemberton too.

I've heard that Jamie might get another chance this year, I think it was the Mail Online.

Bruno can't fly between the UK and the USA and quarantine (as the current regs stand at the moment, may change though!) so it looks like he might have to miss one of them. Rumour has it that he'd opt for the USA version.

I also heard - a while back - that Oti's husband Marius might be a pro this year. Bit about this tbh. Don't really know him but it feels like Oti's family are taking over a bit.

Not heard about Cheryl being a judge, surely they could get a ballroom professional on? Karen Hardy, Ian, Matthew, Natalie or Kristina of the former professionals? Or if we are thinking about former professional who are friends of Shirleys, Karen and Marcus Hilton or Sammy Stopforth and his wife Barbara (McColl).

Potential contestants - the weather man that plays the drums did the Strictly theme, could be a clue that Owain will be a contestant this year! Here's hoping, I think he'd be good. I'd like a full line-up of people I already know this year won't happen

Like a pp said Bruno is currently in LA and usually travels back and forth all autumn to do SCD and DWTS, it’s said that he will stay in LA this year. It seems the most sensible option.

Cheryl cannot be a judge, nope no no! I’d allow Anton though Maybe one of the other professionals, Kevin or Neil? There must be plenty of people from the ballroom scene who could do it also.

Higher profile stars would be good, maybe they will be free from other commitments this year because of cv? Maybe this will be a bumper year!

There will be a lot of actors and sports people at a loose end right now which probably gives getting some more high profile people on a good chance.
