This series is really good.

I so was not expecting tonight.

What's the pay gap about? Who's being paid more?

My guess would be James Nesbitt is being paid the most.
Easy to solve, just say this is the pay - take it or leave it.
It would still work if one of the main characters wasn't in it.

Not sure what the pay dispute is about but it was Fay Ripley (Jenny) who has mentioned it. Again, not sure if the writer’s reason for not continuing the series next year is down to any pay dispute but, whatever the reason, it’s a real shame.

Oh I always look forward to it in Jan! Brightens up a shite month.

Earlier in the thread afew of us said how he is known to be not so nice. And he is a canny business man.

If Pete has an affair I'll have to stop watching - this can't happen after everything Jenny has been through. Mike Bullen said there was a big shock coming, I wonder if Pete and Jenny will divorce.

I think he'll be tempted but will stop short of an affair. Though didn't Jenny cheat on him back in the day? I vaguely remember he then married an Aussie woman who cheated on him with Richard Armitage!

I will be seriously pissed off with the writers if Pete has an affair! It would be like turning it into a soap. Creating extra drama for the sake of it

Someone I know has worked on all of the new series and says that they are all utter knobs apart from Robert Bathurst.

If Pete has another affair it’s pretty lazy writing. Also Jenny seemed strangely un fazed by her Mums sudden death. Is it because she’ll have issues with grief later on? I really love watching Cold Feet but I’m not really buying Karen and Adam because he’s a knob and she isn’t. Her acting with her mum was just brilliant.

I thought Jenny's reaction to her Mum's death was quite neutral. She went to a fondue party a couple of days later! Maybe the grief will hit her soon. And why was the strange woman from jury service so desperate to have an affair with Pete? Couldn't she just go on Tinder if she wanted a no strings hook up? I'm imagining some kind of blackmail or coercion on her part as she lent Pete the money and she knows he hasn't told Jenny. Very lazy writing if they do go down that route.

What has happened to Jenny's job? She used to work in a hotel and was going to university and now she just goes for a coffee with Karen every day.

And why has Mary the cafe owner disappeared? I thought her and David were going to be a couple.

Agree re Karen and her mum @Cherrypie32 and I liked that the writers didn't give them an ending where they cried and hugged and made everything ok. It felt more realistic to have Karen accept that that's just how her mum is and that she'll never change.

I know HN a little (school) and she is not a knob, very low key and polite, children have lovely manners too. I do not envy her having love scenes with JN, shudders.
