Just caught up on last night's episode. Oh dear, it's all happening for poor Karen!

Karen's mother is awful to her, constantly putting her down and criticising her and has Pete always been this whiney - seriously, he's like a child.

Didn't want David to take a management job again, he's been much nicer since he hasn't worked in that field

Hopefully he'll stay the same person...

It might be worth looking in a CEX shop if you have one near. I managed to get my mum series 1 to 5 in a boxset for £2.50 as she missed it first time around and wanted to catch up.

I'm enjoying this series. Jenny is brilliant.

There’s some very good writing in this series, if you overlook the whimsical bits with the James Nesbitt character. I simply do not get his supposed charm. But the storylines are brilliant: ageing parents, teenage children finding their way, career crises when you know you’re too old to resign as no one will hire you in your 50s, and old and (hard to make) new friends. Lovely also to see a series set in a thriving city that’s not London. I’ve also found the cancer storyline superbly acted.

But I’m fully needing to suspend disbelief that Karen would let Adam move in with her (or indeed fall for him in the first place). His poor son. Her poor daughters!

Adam is a prize idiot, and it's incredibly hard to swallow Karen putting up with that.

He left his teenage son in a boarding school so he could work in Singapore and didn't realise he was being bullied.

He married a woman half his age and quickly divorced her.

He got together with another woman soon after and was planning to have a baby with her, before cheating on her too.

He gets together with his friend's ex wife, and moves his son in - to his son's girlfriend's house! - without consulting him. Said girlfriend is pushed out of her own home and Adam doesn't realise that MAYBE they should leave.

Finds long lost daughter. Invites her to dinner, completely casually and with no regard for his son or her feelings if it goes badly.

I mean, what a dick!? Sure, parents shouldn't make every life decision based on their children, but they should make SOME.

Yup, I love your analysis @thecatsthecats. The acting by the the various 'children' involved is excellent, isn't it? That look of hurt bundled in with frustration on one of Karen's daughters in last week's episode was so telling.

Oh and on a more superficial note: I have house envy, but especially with the smallest of the three, which (I'm sure intentionally) seems the cosiest.

The younger actors are all good but I find Matt's earrings immensely irritating!

It's such a fab series!

Ah, @QueenOfTheAndals, I reckon they're meant to be irritating! I love how I've aged along with this series. My own offspring at similar age of testing our boundaries of tolerance (as we of course did to our own parents back in the dark ages).

At least Matt was dressed in the latest episode, the week before he was mostly in pants.

I have to say I love Adam's house, especially the massive kitchen/diner - house goals for me

Cel Spellman (Adam’s son ) was on ITV breakfast Tv and he wears those earrings (& more) and tonnes of jewellery - it’s just ‘his look’. So it’s tamed down for the show.

Turns out it was Jenny's mum who had the stroke rather than Karen's and she dies.

I’ve just been reading that the show’s creator, Mike Bullen, has said that the show is being “rested” and won’t be back next year. ☹️ Apparently it’s amid a pay gap dispute as well. I’m really sad, I love my fix of Cold Feet each year with plenty of house and clothes envy!
