Im really looking forward to it. I was a huge fan back in my teens.

I remember seeing a pic of Kylie and MH when they were dating, she had a short blonde wig on and a sequinned dress. I remember feeling so jealous that she was dating him.

We are very used to seeing addicts on TV who are non functioning and a real mess. My experience has been if there's a functioning adult in the house ( Geldof) along side the addict then things can tick along for years without it being apparent.

I was a teen in the 80's (not in the UK). I did find the programme interesting and have had Never Tear Us Apart playing in a loop in my head ever since Back in the day, I did like their music but never fancied MH though, to me he was bit grubby looking, too much of everything - too big lips, too much hair, too big nose, too intense and so on.

Also, not being a native English speaker, I never twigged the band name was a word play meaning In an excess lol. We all used to call it just INXS, same as you'd pronounce INKS (like printer inks for example).

Near the end, something I didn't quite get.

Paula had left Tiger with Michael in Australia(?) & flown back to London for custody hearings for the Geldof girls.

Then there seemed to be an implication that Michael thought he/they might lose Tiger?

What was that all about?

It seemed to come across that it was connected to the Paula/Bob custody case which is obviously rubbish.

I think when Paula lost custody though, was there a realisation that she wouldn't leave England so he'd hardly ever see Tiger?

Was he also seeing someone else by then so perhaps thinking he & Paula might have a battle over Tiger?

I think that was it. Apparently, MH wanted to move back to Australia with Paula and the girls as he'd had enough of the media intrusion that was going on in the UK. Understandably, Bob Geldof was never going to let that happen.

I think it was also said that he was happy as a family with Paula & her girls (before Tiger), but that of course was at the cost of breaking up a family.

Something that was strange (to me), was the mother taking him & Tina to America & leaving the other boy behind.

And someone saying that he didn't seem to have had a happy childhood.

Who knows, he may not have wanted his family to have Tiger.

So sad all in all though.

Surely it was the drugs that contributed to his depression though? And surely him and Paula ramped up their intake when they got together? She was a full on junkie by the end and I imagine he wasnt far behind. Their house was full of class A drugs. She was always going to lose custody and BG was never going to allow those girls to go to Australia even for a holiday. Realistically Tiger shouldve been at the very least A Child in Need. Im not convinced they both wouldve ended up dead if they hadnt met each other. Ive seen it too many times and very rarely in all my career have I seen a partner who wasnt into the smack as well. I can count on one hand there ever been a sober sensible partner. Thats why I think she wasnt dabbling when she was with BG i really think MH tapped into that side of her.

Paula Yates had a lot to deal with during her last few years of life (including discovering that Hughie Green was her biological father), so it's not really a surprise that she took to drugs. Maybe it wasn't being with MH per se that caused her descent but all the other things going on in her own life. If he was a user it would have been easy to take it up to dull her own pain rather than just to join him in his?

I wasn't ever really a fan of INXS but listen to '', always one of my favourite songs of the early 90s.

Not really a surprise that MH's brother Rhett descended into heavy drug use from an early age, given that he was left behind by their mother. I can think of nothing worse.

There was social service involvement and a decision made in the family court, lady hale I think, and the care of the older girls was put 50 50 but Tiger had no such provision made for her and PY left TL in Oz when she returned to UK for the family court hearing. I do think she thought she would lose custody and, that BG was actively trying to get custody of Tiger.
Later, she crashed in and out of rehab but usually picked up a new boyfriend and the cycle started all over and despite all the carry on, TL was with her. O dont know how that happened given all the evidence that she wasnt coping.
And MH never stopped shagging around. And this drove her to distraction and fueled the self destruction and it just went into over drive after his death.

It seems so long ago now which I guess it was, I do remember the papers day after day having articles about MH and PY, it was endless, a little like it was with Amy Winehouse if anyone remembers the daily pictures and articles of her during her Blake days.

And on a sadder note Stuck in a Moment by U2 was also written for Paula by Bono who was a close friend of all three members of the triangle after Michael's death. The lyrics are heart read.
