Im really looking forward to it. I was a huge fan back in my teens.

I think it was 'hell hath no fury like Saint Bob scorned', when Paula left him for Michael and he wasn't going to let them them get away with it. Saying that, Michael and Paula were no saints either and I don't think their home was any kind of an environment to bring up young children, with all the drugs that were around.

Recording.

FozzieBear123 · 28/12/2019 23:33

The sexiest man ever. I was obsessed. With him and the band. When he died my mum broke the news to me like he was a family member. I never really got over it....

Thoughtful piece of film, oh my he was beautiful but also came across as such a sensitive soul, it’s obvious from the film just how loved he was even by those whose hearts he’d broken. The tail end of his life seemed to spiral out of control and although it’s obvious he loved Paula their relationship was toxic so sad for all involved. Watching the concert now, they were brilliant at their peak, the crowd are going crazy!

Todaythiscouldbe · 28/12/2019 23:37

Watched the documentary, he led a very troubled life really, I wasn't aware of much if this back in the day.
Now watching the concert, one of the highlights of my life, I feel very lucky to have been there.

Jellykat · 28/12/2019 23:39

Im watching the gig too.. waiting for THE song!

EachandEveryone · 28/12/2019 23:44

I can’t say I was a massive fan I just fancied him like mad and loved the one big hit they had. I never thought they were as big here as abroad, I’m probably wrong judging by this crowd! Here we go 😀

@Todaythiscouldbe I’m soooo jealous! My 17 year old self had crossed the line into grunge at that point but still held a secret love for them, bet it was amazing!

Todaythiscouldbe · 28/12/2019 23:52

It was a fantastic day/night. Although watching it now I can't believe I was in the middle of that for over 10 hours

kittykatkitty · 28/12/2019 23:54

Such a superb talent.
So handsome and very charismatic
I loved him

CoolCarrie · 29/12/2019 00:11

Paula was a drama queen and a fantasist, her mother was the same a fantasist and drama queen. She and Michael were bad for each other, and it’s a shame that their daughter lost both of her parents when she was so young , just as Peaches two sons are motherless.

EachandEveryone · 29/12/2019 00:18

It’s just so horrible how history repeated itself. Shocking that all the music I loved growing up and up to this day the singers are all dead! What’s that about?

I just watched it and was transported back... he just oozed sexuality. The way he looked into the camera...

It was interesting that none of his ex-girlfriends disliked him, even though they broke their hearts. They all talked about his depression though, so even prior to the brain injury there were clearly issues.

Such a desperately sad story all round. And so much not covered. Paula Yates finding out her dad wasn't who she thought he was. Her death. Her daughters death. The family has had more than it's fair share of tragedy.

Tiger lily is in her 20's now. Stunning. Spitting image of him.

BBOA · 29/12/2019 00:23

Just watched it. Such a tragedy. Saw Inxs in concert at Wembley and it was amazing and had such a crush on him!

ValerieFlowers · 29/12/2019 00:27

Paula had a very sad life. Very strange and lonely childhood. I think she and Michael had a lot of similarities - both experienced sadness at a young age and both very charismatic - but together they were a toxic combination. In contrast, it sounds like his ex girlfriends like Kylie, Michele and Helena were probably good for him but perhaps that didn't satisfy his needs whereas Paula did to some degree.

RosesFan · 29/12/2019 00:29

I was totally in love with him and loved the band - saw them 3 times, the first time in a small venue in Leicester and the last one at the gig at Wembley just shown - sigh. Happy memories.

Campervan69 · 29/12/2019 00:58

Wow just Googled Tiger lily and it seems that she was left just £14,000 by Paula when she died and she only inherited £500 from her father's estate because it all seems to have been disappeared by his lawyers. His family have been fighting for years to try and find out what happened to the money.

noodlenosefraggle · 29/12/2019 08:21

Wasn't there also some issue about Bob getting custody of her when they wanted it? I know that the argument was that she'd be brought up with her sisters rather than halfway round the world from them, but it seemed a bit strange that he managed to get full custody.

EachandEveryone · 29/12/2019 09:40

Money talks I guess

I saw only a bit of it last night. I might watch the whole thing today.

It was interesting to see he wasn’t nearly as gorgeous when he cut off his hair.

EachandEveryone · 29/12/2019 10:03

Who was the young woman at the end? Was he having an affair?

greenpeach148 · 29/12/2019 10:38

I do get annoyed when Bob Geldof is blamed for the addiction problems of Michael And Paula. Bob did what any decent human being would do, looking out for those kids when Paula clearly couldn't. And raising Tiger as his own child was away beyond the call of duty. Both Paula and Michael had died by this point, so not sure how it's revenge? As I recall at the time and listening to Bob in interviews, he felt that she needed to stay with her sisters and that's why he raised her in their family. She had almost no relationship with any other family members, so the Geldof family home was the logical place for her to stay.

Sparklybaublefest · 29/12/2019 10:42

I caught the last few minutes of this.
He had a great voice.

noodlenosefraggle · 29/12/2019 11:07

Yes actually I'd forgotten that Michael's siblings weren't in a position to take her, no matter what they said at the time- the brother was an addict himself, not sure about the sister. Agree he couldn't leave his children on the other side of the world with 2 heroin addicts. Peaches wasnt glowing about the way he brought them up but she had her own issues and seemed to have a romanticized view of Paula. The other 3 girls seem to be well grounded.

Chipstick10 · 29/12/2019 11:59

Had dealings with the Bob and Paula in a second degree way if you get what I mean. And he was completely controlling
