Oh I agree, he pissed off when anything got serious but it was always 'a mutual decision,' yeah right Hmm it wasn't critical at ALL,was it?

KatherineJaneway · 31/12/2019 11:33

If you make it critical people won't talk to you, won't lend you their footage etc.

ThursdayLastWeek · 31/12/2019 12:56

I don’t think it needed to be critical as such, it was obvious there were reason behind his behaviour. I just feel like the women in his story, (and although I’m a bit too young to remember it well from the time I seem to recall they were a big part of the MH story) seem to have been swept to one side a little. Unless they were flashing their bottoms of course.

I’m not saying I didn’t enjoy it, I just think I would have preferred a more measured doc.

But I’m sure you’re right, no editorial control, no footage.

EachandEveryone · 31/12/2019 13:15

I’m always amazed how people makes these kind of documentaries. Who thinks to store childhood film recordings or who even had the money to have the cameras? Same with letters kept forever. It’s fantastic. The Leonard Cohen one was fantastic as well. It was like everything was filmed back from the 194

1940’s. Things that my mother would’ve thrown away. The Bowie exhibition had his drawings and diary from childhood it was mind boggling.

as an aside, why does Geldof have so much cash? He fronted a band that had a couple of vague hits, then did Live Aid. It' doesn't seem enough to make one minted though

His company made The Big Breakfast, and he made money from his autobiography .

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 31/12/2019 14:21

The Boomtown Rats were huge.

I thought it was Chris Evans who was behind TBBS or was he just a presenter?

SwedishEdith · 31/12/2019 14:32

It's funny looking at those INXS chart positions in the UK - I'd have assumed they'd had more hits/higher positions. They were definitely not cool to like though.

xsquared · 31/12/2019 14:32

How does anyone knows what sort of a parent Bob Geldof was? I'm no fan of his but MH fan girls people seem to drag his name into the whole Michael Hutchence/Paula Yates circus, and blame him for their deaths.
FWIW, there were pictures last year of him and Tiger deep in conversation while out and about.
Pixie seems to be doing okay for herself too.

SwedishEdith · 31/12/2019 14:37

I like Geldof so I'm biased but, just looking, and Tiger Lily was on the anti-Farage anti-Brexit boat in the Thames. Looks quite happy with BG there.

I think their nanny lived in a flat with them. I think he was a product of his upbringing.

I wasn't that much of a fan but appreciated his appeal.

His whole family life was completely fucked up and his parents completely selfish and self centred.

I got the impression that he was all in with his relationships but then just got bored and moved on as his career progressed or stalled.

His head injury obviously completely changed his whole personality. Where was the calming, nurturing influence at the time - his family when this happened? I can't believe he was never properly treated at the time.

I feel for the whole Geldof clan and Tiger. Such a tragedy for all concerned.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 31/12/2019 16:55

The thing is if someone doesn't want to be treated in hospital they can't pin you down and do it anyway.

He made money from TV production companies, probably diversified from there. The Saint Bob rep probably helped.halo

Some money from these.....yes. But probably quite a lot is from his Private Equity company, that invests in African markets.

MH oozed sex didn’t he, probably the sexiest rock star ever.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 31/12/2019 21:50

Yep!

Elieza · 31/12/2019 22:02
