Victoria Coren-Mitchell - oh dear. Why did she wear that dress on the tv last night?

I am mystified as to why anyone with her money, and presumably access to advice, would wear that awful dress! It simply didn’t fit. She could not do it up and even DH noticed the very obvious VPL. Doesn’t anyone on Only Connect just say “No”?

Still, dress sense aside, at least VCM isn’t forever riding on her DH’s coattails.

He isnt of course, but because he made stupid comments about his daughter in some way, cant even remember the details, the usual frothing took place. I dont really like him, he is up his own arse and not particularly clever or amusing but the threads go mad when he is mentioned usually.

I know the producer of Only Connect, I’d pass your DH’s feedback and comments on VCM’s sartorial decisions to him if I believed he’d give any fucks at all. 😆

Her appearance is part of being on television. They’ll have done her hair and make up. Her dress is essentially a costume.
Its no good saying people can’t comment negatively on Victorias poor dress choice and but have endless threads on Claudia Winklemans stylish choices. You can’t judge some clothes as being fab without some then being not so great.

There are millions of posters on MN. There’s no way of knowing if posters on this thread sticking up for VCM have been giving CW stick on other threads. I, for one, have never posted about CW and I wouldn’t be vastly surprised if the same is true of PPs here,

She is one of those women everyone with a brain cell fancies. She can wear what she likes as far as I’m concerned. I’m thrilled we have an intelligent funny woman on TV.
I love how happily married she is, too. It’s heart warming.

She’s great. She could wear a cardboard box and still outsmart outthink and look better than most people.

I didn’t know who this woman is nor have I heard of the programme but I went to have a look on iplayer and her dress is fine?! The only people who would have noticed any vpl are the ones looking at her bum.
No idea if it fits maybe it’s a tight style, but it looks fine maybe a bit crumpled from when she was sitting down. What a strange post.

BTW, what makes you say that the photo was photoshopped? It looks like the PP either took a screenshot and posted it or paused her TV and took a photo of it.

No one would take a photo of her on screen. No, I’m asking a reasonable question as to why a rich women doesn’t care about her clothes. She cares about hair and make up, but not clothes in this instance. It’s very odd! I watched the programme and that photo is not accurate and is a side view!

That's your perception. You assume she doesn't care about her clothes, or didn't care about this particular outfit, because you judge this dress to be unflattering and a terrible choice. Other perceptions are possible and equally valid.

However the VPL got in the way.

She was filmed from such a distance away yet you are so obsessed you say you couldn't even see what was happening on screen.

Yes, same here. It's not terrible, it's just a bit boring in my opinion. Utilitarian.

I was there as well. And was really pleased when she was announced as one of the guests. I thought she came across appallingly. My keenness on her vanished in a flash. Whereas Hannah Fry was lovely.

Some of us really don’t care what we wear or look like. Maybe Victoria feels the same. I expect her mind is too busy thinking about much more interesting things than fashion.

Did anyone else think the second wall was much harder than the first? Usually they’re pretty equal.

I really like the dress and not sure I would have noted that it was ill fitting although now it’s been pointed out I suppose it is a bit tight around the bum/hips. But I am also curvy and sizing up doesn’t always fit either so unless you can get everything tailored to fit, that is going to happen sometimes.

As an aside, she is a very attractive woman but I must be one of the few people who doesn’t find her charming. I found her to be a privileged, precocious, obnoxious teen and don’t feel much has changed. Not a fan.
