Victoria Coren-Mitchell - oh dear. Why did she wear that dress on the tv last night?

I am mystified as to why anyone with her money, and presumably access to advice, would wear that awful dress! It simply didn’t fit. She could not do it up and even DH noticed the very obvious VPL. Doesn’t anyone on Only Connect just say “No”?

She was very self deprecating when explaining the poker question last night.

OP, if the knowledge that the presenter was wearing pants made it impossible for you to concentrate on the contents of the quiz, then perhaps you aren’t the target audience for this show? I’m sure that VCM would sardonically politely suggest that you stopped watching, given that is the case.

Im busting out of my work trousers, they're a bit too tight. I was taken aside by my manager today and told that I was being self absorbed. Might get given a disciplinary for it.

Wearing a dress so tight it gives the wearer a VPL is self-absorbed?! I can’t see how those two can be linked. I imagine she just doesn’t give as much of a fuck about the way she looks as, say, the OP does. That makes her the opposite of self-absorbed, surely? As in, not at all absorbed by the way she looks and far more absorbed in what she’s saying and doing on the show?

VCM is a highly intelligent and attractive woman. I don’t think it’s fair to make negative remarks on the rare occasions she may not look stunning in one of her dresses. So what? She’s great and the show is always entertaining.

@Chucklebunnie and? There are better or worse choices. It's not awful, it looks perfectly presentable and does the job. Presumably she was comfortable in it and liked how it looked.

It is possible to comment without it being “bitchy”. The photo doesn’t show the VPL (it was very obvious)!or the fact it didn’t go over her bust. That photo is photoshopped!

I just googled and she’s been presenting it since 2008 (wow!) and presumably has worn something different for all/most of the episodes.

It would be quite unlikely for every dress she wore to be liked by every member of the TV audience over that length of time
