I am mystified as to why anyone with her money, and presumably access to advice, would wear that awful dress! It simply didn’t fit. She could not do it up and even DH noticed the very obvious VPL. Doesn’t anyone on Only Connect just say “No”?

Absolutely. All the stupid “Ooh show us a photo of what you’re wearing so we can critique you” posts are missing the point that if you go on the telly and don’t realise that people will have and air opinions on how you look, you’re are a bit thick.

Don’t be daft, the op is saying that VCM looked awful in the dress. In fact she didn’t add any details at all about the dress. I don’t know if it was floral or polka dot or what colour it is.

Nor should she wear knickers apparently.

To be honest I am not a fan of the way AR dresses: it’s just too much!

She tends to wear her dresses somewhat tight fitting but so what. You don't have to follow her in dressingng similarly. It certainly didn't affect her ability to chair the programme and I can't believe it interfered with your enjoyment of the quiz so why comment?

It’s absolutely fine to comment on someone who is on TV and what they’re wearing. We don’t tend to comment about male presenters because they wear very boring clothes and nobody is particularly interested in a suit. (But we watched 24 Hours in Police Custody with our kids at the weekend and we were all distracted by the overweight male police officer who was actually bursting out of his shirt. So it does happen)

As an aside, I can't think of anyone famous who's had more of a glow up / late bloom than David. He looked absolutely frightful in his Peep Show days, but has been looking properly hot for the last 10 years or so. The beard has done absolute wonders for him 😍

I went and watched the relevant parts of the episode to see this offending item and am amazed at the ire directed at VCM for wearing such an innocuous dress. She looks lovely, she usually does. It wouldn’t be my choice of dress or style, but that’s totally fine as I have a different style and shape to VCM.

I assume it’s the fact that the shirt was left half unbuttoned and she was wearing a vest top underneath that’s the main issue that’s upset the OP? And daring to wear big pants and have them be noticeable as VPL too. Which is such an odd thing to care about when you think about it.

Jeremy Paxman used to get a lot of comment on his outfits and look. Jokes or comments about his hanky, his beard, grey hair or not grey hair.

Yeah same. I only noticed because I love her style and she's so immaculately presented usually. Gappy boob buttons and VPL are more my style 🙄

To be fair there was a lot of sneering commentary (sometimes with interesting subtexts) about Amol Rajan's jewellery.

I have gone back and watched a bit but I am generally too busy staring at the wall trying to solve it to notice Victoria's bottom.

I was going to say seeing as her husband shags sofa her dress is the least of her worries. But then realised it’s her brother who she has no choice being related to!

It was a military green shirt-dress with a forest green vest underneath it. I would imagine any “advice” was along the lines of…

“V, the buttons are gaping a bit.”
“Who cares, I have a vest on, let’s crack on, shall we?”

I expect the VPL is due to her wearing sensible knickers, very wise! Who the hell cares? Who made the rule lines must not be seen through clothes? And that you can’t be wearing very tight fitting clothes if you’ve got a bust? The sun doesn’t fail to rise if you can tell I’m wearing m and s jumbo we deal with any perimenopausal bullshit pants.
VPL and too much cleavage and mutton dressed as lamb and cellulite and her skirts too short and she looks frumpy is all part of the same patriarchal bullshit.
And is there even a male equivalent of any of it? I’m struggling to think of any? Maybe the stuff Linford Christie has to endure but that’s all.
