Sainsbury’s jeans 😲

My mate was wearing a lovely pair of barrel leg jeans so I asked her where she got them. Sainsbury’s, she says, £22. So I went and got some for myself. First day out in them today and another woman asked where I got them, said they looked really nice on. And I wore them all day and they’re the same size now as when I put them on (marginally more relaxed but they haven’t grown a couple of sizes like jeans sometimes do).

Very impressed. When did this happen to Sainsbury’s? Are there other gems in the Tu department that I should look out for??

I like the look of those jeans but never know how to style them for my figure. I'm 5,4 and a size 18 with generous boobs.

What do you wear with them - tight tops, tucked in jumpers, boots, flats???

I belted mine because I don’t have much of a waist, and wore them with a long-sleeved printed cotton top tucked in and this jacket. Next time I’ll probably wear a t shirt and tuck the front if it’s long, and a shortish jumper. I’m a blocky size 14 with no waist to speak of, a belly, and F cup boobs.

My friend was wearing hers with a boxy t shirt and Blunsdon boots.

A colleague is wearing them today with a short cardi that sits just below the top of her jeans. She’s got hers rolled down while my friend and I both rolled ours up, and they look great on her.

Nicole Jacket - MADE-TO-ORDER — Roake Studio

The inspiration for our best-selling quilted Nicole came from a vintage jacket my Grandma made and brought along on beach trips for a cosy just-in-case layer. I later adopted it and loved it, but sadly it fell apart. I wanted to make something to wear...

The TU thermal tops are amazing, best I've found anywhere. The polo neck (roll neck) max warmth is lovely, and washes really well. I buy a couple of the basic thermal tops every Winter, always good value.

Sainsbury's jeans have always been fab, I've been buying them for at least 10-15 years. Good price and good fit. I'm a size smaller in them compared to M & S jeans so that doesn't hurt either 😂

The only problem is if you're a size 12-16, you have to buy them when you see them as they sell out a lot, even online.

Lndnmummy · 28/01/2025 14:14

I got a pair of wide jeans from Sainsburys a few months ago. They are perfect

Bit boring but I bought a rubberised rain coat from Tu. Think it was linked to on here actually! It's amazing, cost about 20 quid and looks and feels loads more expensive. It's also the most waterproof coat I've ever owned!

I have that! Its amazing!

Don’t they just make your look larger? They make that model look larger imho. Not a fan of this style, sorry OP.

I'd love to see various images on here of regular MNetters wearing barrel jeans!

Instagram is full of them, but the influencers I follow are all teeny-tiny (and are dressing them up with kitten-heel boots etc).

Sparkletastic · 28/01/2025 14:40

Thanks to this thread I now have a pair of Tu cropped flare jeans on order for the princely sum of £5.40, some leggings for £4.20 and the red Mary Janes

I used to buy loads from Sainsburys and Tesco, but not a single item since the changing rooms went. I live a good 40 min drive to both, so can't be arsed driving back with returns.

Karmaisagod · 28/01/2025 15:19

I'm a big fan of Sainsbury's clothes (jeans and all), and I'd love it if this could be a thread where exchange Tu finds!

At Christmas I got this denim bow blouse, which is really pretty: https://tuclothing.sainsburys.co.uk/product/tuc144347821

And at the beginning of winter I got these cream jeans that I have had several compliments on (excuse the terrible pic quality - I had to screenshot the thumbnail on my order confirmation email as they're no longer in stock).

My opinion is that sizing is on the slightly big side, but not massively. And I don't miss changing rooms because so much stock is not in the shops, and can only be found online. I order several items and sizes to store for free, and they're easy to return.

In my experience, overall TU clothing is a it more expensive than George but worth any penny of difference. The school uniforms trouser I got for my DD are the best I have seen of all the brands I have used.

NeedWineNow · 28/01/2025 15:53

I really rate TU clothing and I've had some gems over the years, especially in their dresses. My extremely glamorous designer clad boss always admired my TU dresses and was amazed when I told her where I'd bought them, often when I'd only popped in for some spuds!

Their sportswear is brilliant, and their long boots are the only ones that fit my dancers calves. Oh, forgot to mention the great swimwear and non VPL knickers.

PlumpAndDeliciousFatcat · 28/01/2025 15:56

While we’re on the subject of supermarket clothes, I bought probably my favourite coat of all time for £55 from Tesco this year. I was shamelessly influenced by Erica Davies, who featured it in one of her reels. It is the perfect oversized boyfriend fit, and every time someone compliments it I feel obliged to share my joy that it is from Tesco.

henlake7 · 28/01/2025 16:41

I love Tu, got some really nice patterned shirts and dresses from there.
Also it sells for peanuts on Vinted!

She just looks like she's wearing baggy jeans to me.

Goldleafcat · 28/01/2025 17:01

After reading this I have ordered one of the ‘rubberised’ (not a huge fan of the description but hey!) raincoats too! Got it in a navy size L. Will see what it’s like when it arrives 😃

(Hopefully I won’t look like the villain from I Know What You Did Last Summer…)

They look as if the wearer is wearing baggy jeans. That applies whether the wearer is size 8 or size 18.

I don't wear jeans but those are considerably better looking as a item of clothing than skinny jeans. I don't understand the fixation some posters have that to be any good clothes should make you seem as small as possible.

tilligan · 28/01/2025 17:36

I have those jeans in both the dark and the medium indigo colour, I wear them loads, with trainers or chelsea boots and cropped tee shirts or jumpers.
Sizing is a bit off, I wear size 10/12 generally but mine are size 8 regular and fit perfectly...I am 5' 8" and they are the right length for me!

Footymum44 · 28/01/2025 17:42

Thanks to this thread I now have barrel leg jeans, a pink t shirt and a pair of animal print driving loafers on order from Sainsbury's all for less than £50!

mcmooberry · 28/01/2025 17:49

I have just ordered some of those jeans plus 2 nightdresses while I was at it!

Twixtmasjigsaw · 28/01/2025 17:52

I bought some awesome retro green trainers from TU and they are amazing. I love them!

CountryMouse22 · 28/01/2025 18:11

They are good value. Check the sizing as I find they come out big. I am a 14-16 and usually take a size larger.

alwaysontheloo · 28/01/2025 18:14

Thank you for this OP. I bought some barrel leg jeans from Nobody's Child that were £75 but didn't come in the darker blue I wanted.
I even emailed NC to see if they were bringing them out in darker blue. These a loads cheaper and exactly what I wanted.
I'm an old indie kid and still miss my baggy jeans so these are perfect! ❤️

LindaDawn · 28/01/2025 18:23

I bought a gorgeous summer midi dress from Sainsbury’s to wear as a wedding guest in Rhodes last year. Love it so much. Only £22.00

IHaveAlwaysLivedintheCastle · 28/01/2025 18:27

I suppose there are ethical issues but apart from that I can't see any reason for not buying knickers and bralettes exclusively from Tu or Asda. The George cotton bralettes I bought 3 years ago are holding up better , in every sense, than much more expensive Sloggi ones.

BurntBroccoli · 28/01/2025 18:29

I bought some stretchy Tu skinny jeans a few years ago - lived in them till they wore out at the top of the thigh!

However when ordered a replacement they had changed the fabric slightly so it was thicker and not as nice.

I've bought lovely tops in there too that I've worn loads.
