Sainsbury’s jeans 😲

AlertCat · 27/01/2025 21:47

My mate was wearing a lovely pair of barrel leg jeans so I asked her where she got them. Sainsbury’s, she says, £22. So I went and got some for myself. First day out in them today and another woman asked where I got them, said they looked really nice on. And I wore them all day and they’re the same size now as when I put them on (marginally more relaxed but they haven’t grown a couple of sizes like jeans sometimes do).

Very impressed. When did this happen to Sainsbury’s? Are there other gems in the Tu department that I should look out for??

Aaah yes I have four pairs of the Tu barrel jeans! I wanted a grey denim pair, which I got from River Island as Tu didn't have a grey. Love the River Island ones as well, although they were twice the price of the Tu.

I don’t get this. The last few bits I’ve got from Sainsbury’s have fallen apart/been poor quality. Bobbly woolen dress, trainers that cracked, kids trainers that fell apart… They also don’t seem to do small sizes in jeans - their 8 is massive and they don’t do a 6!

Rocksaltrita · 28/01/2025 10:52

Wantitalltogoaway · 28/01/2025 08:53

I often see things I like in Sainsbury’s but they don’t include people who are smaller than a size 8 sadly.

And their 8 is massive compared with other 8s in other shops!

Thatwasthenthisisbetter · 28/01/2025 11:23

I’m 5’6 and their regular length wide leg jeans are too long and going back if I can find the receipt. Those look lovely OP, I’m tempted to try them instead.

Thatwasthenthisisbetter · 28/01/2025 11:24

I also have their long green puffer coat, it’s so warm I live in it, it was £55

i agree, so very annoying that they have closed their changing rooms!
i guess there was theft
and they would need staff on hand
and after covid it was easier for them

Mine were closed because of Covid. So frustrating as I'd buy more if there was a changing room. Going to check out the jeans though, I live in skinny so a bit nervous about anything called barrel!

Thanks @AlertCat.

I’m a bit cautious of that style as I don’t think it suits my shape, but for £22 and a good returns policy, it seems worth a try!

Agree with PP about their sports stuff too. I bought two long sleeved tops there about ten years ago and they still look brand new despite weekly wearing and washing. I’ve just scoured vinted to get more of them.

I've just bought a long sleeved running top as refused to pay £25 for good move when it felt so thin. This one was £14 and in the Oti Mabuse range. Not worn yet so can only report it seems to have washed okay.

suki1964 · 28/01/2025 11:34

For those asking about sizing, Im happy to say Im in a size 8 jean from them - and I have never ever in my life been a size 8 :)

But then Im also in size 8 from Matalan

However I have no bum and really skinny legs

2025istheyeari · 28/01/2025 11:35

Thanks, have been looking for some cheapish barrel jeans, am losing weight so don’t want to spend too much! I’ve bought them, albeit only available in the slightly lighter colour ways I’ve gone for long and at 5 foot 8 hope they fit!

They sound great, can you post a pic of them or a link if possible.

I have found a few good items from TU. And got myself a pair of leather look trousers for £9 in the sale which I used to wear out for NYE. So I was glad about that.

I also like the mid blue wash 🤔 and yes I think true to size.

I used to get lots there when dd was a baby as it was the only place I could go shopping. I don’t remember being so delighted with anything back then though.

Thanks for the link, yes they look nice. Hoping I can use TU at times as a replacement for Asda, because I have found their things have changed, been disappointed a few times now sadly.
Including with their Jeggjngs I bought for years, the £12.50 ones, wore when I weighed less and more, and they fitted nicely. Then lost a bit of weight, and the fit is terrible. So returned.

Slowontheup · 28/01/2025 11:51

The zip is far too short (in the pics at least). One of my pet peeves with cheaper jeans is a zip that stops half way down your pubic area.

Garlicnorth · 28/01/2025 12:00

Agree about the Sainsbury's barrel jeans - I also followed a young woman to ask where she got them! Also agree they're too short for me, which is probably as well because I've got too many jeans. All mine have the flappy wide legs that half of S&B cannot stand. I like 'em.

Thought I'd highlight this for those who may be interested even if they don't share my obsession with cut & styling: the magic key is the leg darts. I've got a fantastic pair of wide-legs with these darts, and they are indeed way more flattering than those without. Nicer to wear, too, as they bend naturally when you sit (or do acrobatics, I suppose, if you're that way inclined).

More jeans have this feature now, though still a minority. It uses a bit more fabric so very cheap ones are less likely to have it - which makes the Sainsbo's ones extra good value!

Sainsbury's jeans are brilliant. I keep trying on more expensive ones elsewhere but I always end up coming back to Sainsbury's. The 'long' length are genuinely long and I've done really well there for trousers in general recently (inside leg 34").

They do come up big so I find I need to size down.

GardenersDelight · 28/01/2025 12:24

I've been a convert to Sainsbury's jeans, girlfriend style for the last couple of years and am really pleased with the quality

If you have a nectar card you don't need your receipt as it will be saved in the app

WhatWasPromised · 28/01/2025 12:27

I’ve got a pair of wide leg and flares from there that pretty much always get compliments when I wear them.

Their std length are too short for me but the long fit perfectly.

I do find their jumpers and tops are too short for me, unless they are specifically long line ones.

Their mens sweatshirts on the other hand are the perfect length!

Their sportswear is decent too.

Lakeyloo · 28/01/2025 12:38

I bought these but in green a couple of months ago. I've lived in them recently. So comfortable and really sturdy.
I also have Sainsburys jeans and a few other bits.
I did buy a lovely grey shawl collared pea coat the other day and all the buttons fell off the first time i wore it.
Often pop in for a pint of milk and accidently come out with something from the clothing section 🙄

Just joining in to say... shoes and boots. I have two pairs of boots from Sainsburys and they have both been fabulous. One pair is now looking a bit worn so I basically just use them to walk the dog in but they've lasted brilliantly and very comfortable. The other pair are a low heeled black boot and also, great. I've had great sandals too.

The only issue is that my feet are slightly oddly shaped and sized (thanks pregnancies) so sometimes I try on their shoes but can't buy them. But when I find a pair that fit I always do - last well, very comfortable etc.

And agree that the younger girls clothes are great - not quite as irritatingly pink and a good selection of different types of styles. DD had a lot from there until she developed her love of Zara.

TheSparkling · 28/01/2025 13:05

@RampantIvy if you order online they have the long length but it is rarely in store. I am 5'8" and often try on and then order the extra length online. I know it's a bit of a faff but their clothing is to good not.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 28/01/2025 13:07

I have the Sainsbury's barrel leg jeans. I love them, and get compliments on them too. I've found Sainbury's jeans to be excellent for quite some years. In fact some of my favourite clothes have come from Saino's over the years.

theressomanytinafeysicouldbe · 28/01/2025 13:12

Most of my clothes are either TU at Sainsburys or F&F at Tesco, they both get some really lovely bits in

I popped in to Sainsburys (to avoid the cold when DS was at football training )
On the sale rail I picked up a pale pink blouse for £4 and a pair of jeans for £14.
The jeans are sized as short length, and I am not short, but actually for summer they will be fine.

Rosalisa · 28/01/2025 13:15

I wore jeans from Sainsbury's day in day out for five years. I'm in the USA now and can't believe they're still the same price as my 2017 pair 😮

RedVanYellowVan · 28/01/2025 13:27

Like a pp, I have some TU sports leggings. I bought them in 2014 and have worn them all day for at least three days a week since, as well as almost continually (apart from when they were in the wash) during lockdown, with a smarter top for Zoom meetings.

Apart from a tiny hole where I snagged them on a bramble they are as good as new.
