Sainsbury’s jeans 😲

My mate was wearing a lovely pair of barrel leg jeans so I asked her where she got them. Sainsbury’s, she says, £22. So I went and got some for myself. First day out in them today and another woman asked where I got them, said they looked really nice on. And I wore them all day and they’re the same size now as when I put them on (marginally more relaxed but they haven’t grown a couple of sizes like jeans sometimes do).

Very impressed. When did this happen to Sainsbury’s? Are there other gems in the Tu department that I should look out for??

Pleased to report palazzo flares are great but a much tighter fit and higher waist than the barrel legs.

BubblePerm · 14/02/2025 18:53

Thanks, OP. I bought a pair of these in the sale a couple of weeks ago and I love them.

The original dark blue ones went in the sale and sold out. These are the slightly lighter version of the same ones, along with the newer black ones you’ve posted.

Thanks so much!

I got these too, they’re super comfortable!

I’m now starting to stalk the wide-leg jeans. Can someone talk me down? With two pairs of barrel leg jeans plus what I already had in the wardrobe, I now have five pairs (plus many other trousers). I really don’t need to own ANOTHER pair of jeans!

(I do love jeans, though. Always have! Been a Levi girl since age 12 and it even feels a bit wrong to be buying supermarket jeans 😂)

I can confirm that the wide leg jeans are wonderful and extremely comfortable. I have a cream coloured pair and they are my favourite jeans. Sorry OP 😁

@AlertCat you're in the wrong place for clothes purchases talking down 😁.

@pencilcaseandcabbage , is it possible to have a link to the wide leg jeans?

pencilcaseandcabbage · 15/02/2025 08:59

@Karmaisagod I think I have these ones. I bought them in store and the label just says 'wide leg' and 'stone', but sadly it seems they have been in the sale so have almost sold out. Unless you are a size 16 short, in which case you are in luck. And actually, I should mention that I'm 5'6" and the short is perfect.

Thank you, @pencilcaseandcabbage, I'm due to pop in today, so I'll check them out. Wide leg jeans come in so many different shapes and styles, and often the photographs don't show what they're actually like, so it's always good to look out for the ones that come recommended.

Yes, I actually don't think they look that great in the link, but I adore them on.

pencilcaseandcabbage · 15/02/2025 09:59

Oh, and good luck today finding some, @Karmaisagod

CocteauTwin · 15/02/2025 12:54

I am addicted to the Tu barrel leg jeans, particularly those with the dart in the leg. I discovered them last summer in a mid blue denim, and then got 2 pairs of the dark coloured ones as I love them so much. I'm old, short and fat but I love the fit and look.

I got the leopard print ones recently which are great too, however I wish I'd got the regular length as these are a bit shorter. I have now ordered the washed black, and 2 dark denim colours which have just become available on the website. It would be rude not to as they are £18 each with the 20% off. I think I need help!

I find the Tu wide leg jeans a bit more a mixed bag - often the short length are far too long on me. But there are always more hits than misses.

evilharpy · 15/02/2025 16:02

Just bought this blouse in store (sold out online). I can't believe it was £20, the quality is lovely and I think it looks much higher end.

ChiaraRimini · 15/02/2025 18:05

Thank you Mumsnet! I've just bought two pairs of jeans from Sburys off the back of this which I love- relaxed slim fit, and a flared pair which are more like bootcut. I've recently lost a lot of weight and gone down 2 dress sizes so was desperate for new jeans, these are the best I've tried

Ohnobackagain · 15/02/2025 19:33

Does anyone who wears a 12L in M&S The Sophia also wear the Sainsbury’s jeans for a size check please?
@AlertCat just in case you do; no idea of their sizes since my fave Jeff Banks ones from Sainsbury’s about 20 years ago!

bigTillyMint · 15/02/2025 21:12

If it’s any help @Ohnobackagain, I find M&S 12L a bit big around the waist usually, and Sainsbos are also a bit big, if not slightly bigger.

So if M&S 12L fit you, so should Sainsbos IYSWIM!

Sorry no, Levi’s or, apparently, Sainsbury’s are my go-to brands now. Jeans are really hard to fit though.

I’m a 12 reg or short in M&S and have found the same at Sainsburys, some styles reg, some short. Don’t know if that helps 😳

Ohnobackagain · 16/02/2025 17:24

@Thatwasthenthisisbetter thank you - so a 12 in the Sainsbury’s ones?

Thatwasthenthisisbetter · 16/02/2025 19:16

Yes a 12 in Sainsbury’s

DancingDucks · 16/02/2025 19:51

I bought a pair of wide leg jeans on a whim there last week. They are the comfiest jeans ever. I have had them on twice now and both times someone has asked me where I got them.

sweetpickle2 · 17/02/2025 09:18

Thanks to everyone who keeps updating this thread as I've now seen that they have 16L back in stock in all colours, so I've now ordered two more pairs of the barrel leg!

2025willbemytime · 14/02/2025 15:31

I thought of this thread when I found myself unexpectedly in Sainsbury's and they had a sale on with jeans on the end of an aisle. But not the fit I normally get and with no changing room..

Top tip - I was wearing leggings last time I went in so just found a mirror and tried the jeans on top.

2025willbemytime · 19/02/2025 22:32

I've tried stuff under dresses or skirts before but it's not been dress weather here! I could go in my running trousers though. I've had to throw out three pairs of jeans this year and I've never had such a small amount of jeans. I need more.

EBoo80 · 20/02/2025 08:46

@Ohnobackagain im a 12 in M&S jeans and wish I’d gone 10 in the Sainsbury’s barrel legs. They’re super comfy and not falling down but would look better on me in a 10 I think. There’s a LOT of space in the waist.

MadameSzyszkoBohusz · 20/02/2025 10:12

I think the sizes are a bit generous - I bought the 10 and like you there’s a far bit of space round the waist. And I’m not even close to being a size 8!
