Sainsbury’s jeans 😲

My mate was wearing a lovely pair of barrel leg jeans so I asked her where she got them. Sainsbury’s, she says, £22. So I went and got some for myself. First day out in them today and another woman asked where I got them, said they looked really nice on. And I wore them all day and they’re the same size now as when I put them on (marginally more relaxed but they haven’t grown a couple of sizes like jeans sometimes do).

Very impressed. When did this happen to Sainsbury’s? Are there other gems in the Tu department that I should look out for??

My best jeans are about 4 years old and from Sainsbury's, but as they've done away with changing rooms I won't be buying anything more from them.
Who can be arsed buying half a dozen pairs at a time, which is often what it takes to get a good fit, and then having to take them all back again? Not me.

greengreyblue · 28/01/2025 18:29

I don’t have one near me but I always end up buying clothing if I do pop in. Have several sweatshirts, couple of linen shirts
YABU for buying ricket-leg jeans though 🥴😳

HoraceCope · 28/01/2025 18:32

i buy from charity shops and many of my shirts have originally come from TU, including the one i am wearing today!

JackieGoodman · 28/01/2025 18:37

Some of my favourite ever jeans have come from Sainsburys (and I have had Levis, Next, Mint Velvet, Lee, Boden, Fat Face, H&M among others Grin)

Their jeans are excellent, but sell out very quickly. I have a few gems from Tu, including underwear. Menswear also worth a look.

If you want something though, don't delay. Their returns at the Argos counter is excellent and the refund is processed as you leave the counter!

Mine was refunded as Nectar points, not money so be aware. I wasn't told this and wasn't happy when I found out.

PortiaWithNoBreaks · 28/01/2025 19:04

I have those jeans too OP. They are fabulous. I bought one pair online, loved them so much I bought the darker wash as well.

My 16 yo DD complimented me on them which is a rare thing.

WillimNot · 28/01/2025 19:06

I find their basic TU t-shirts excellent, soft, long enough and wash very well.
If I see them in secondhand shops in my size I buy them

This thread is making me really hate that my Sainsbury's have shut their changing rooms. When I asked a few months ago the assistant was very snotty when she said they went years ago.

Yellowpingu · 28/01/2025 19:29

I have many items from Tu, including the rubberised coat PP have mentioned. I’ve also got one from Boden and I much prefer the Tu version. My only wish is that they’d put pockets in dresses but I suppose that would increase the cost. Currently wearing their wide leg jeans.

MaggieFS · 28/01/2025 19:40

Please can someone link the rubberised cat?

MaggieFS · 28/01/2025 19:41

OMG. Coat. Coat. Coat. Not cat 😂

faithbuffy · 28/01/2025 19:51

I was in today, spotted a v neck soft touch grey jumper that looked lovely, some leopard pattern blue gym leggings that felt more expensive than they were
Also loads of really soft loungewear type joggers

(My cat is offended and says he's not waterproof) Grin

Ooh this is good intel. Also, I complimented a school mum on her coat the other day, thinking it was a Barbour - she said it was £20 from Tesco!

Suzuki76 · 28/01/2025 20:01

I have 2 pairs and wear them at least 3 times a week. I often wear with a fitted top (polo neck sometimes) and a belt. The silhouette is basically the same as Lucy and Yak Alexa trousers, seen here. I'm a 12 with FFs.

I mention them a lot on here but then someone argues they are "unflattering" but I don't actually care about looking thinner and like to mix up shapes.

They’re always sadly too short for me but Sainsbury’s pyjamas are lovely.

Trishthedish · 28/01/2025 20:03

Tu jeans are the best. Gym wear is very good value. Just become a granny and the baby clothes are fabulous. Just brilliant.

Ooh please can you link to/ say which TU item you're talking about? They sound great

Sorry, it's the barrel leg jeans from the OP! Mine are from last year so slightly darker.

Totally agree their pyjamas are great. Far superior so my £££ hush ones

Goldleafcat · 28/01/2025 17:01

After reading this I have ordered one of the ‘rubberised’ (not a huge fan of the description but hey!) raincoats too! Got it in a navy size L. Will see what it’s like when it arrives 😃

(Hopefully I won’t look like the villain from I Know What You Did Last Summer…)

I have a khaki one and get so many compliments on it.

Hotflushesandchilblains · 28/01/2025 20:27

As for offended cats - arent they always?

TheYearOfSmallThings · 28/01/2025 20:28

I don't like their women's clothes but their baby and children's clothes are excellent, and their trainers are among the few my son will tolerate.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 28/01/2025 20:30

Oh yes and their women's pyjamas are good. I had some when I was pregnant ten years ago and my mum is still wearing them - they still look perfect and they are her favourite set.

Roundaboot · 28/01/2025 20:35

Thanks OP, I've bookmarked those for payday.
I've had some lovely stuff from Tu. I got a tweedy coat and a fabulous black cord dress from there last year. The dress has pockets and is very soft and comfortable, and best of all, the skirt is not tiered!
They used to stock Thought clothing too and reduced them heavily in the sales. I got a pure wool jumper for something like £25. Sadly Thought don't seem to be making clothes anymore though
