I’ve ordered the Asawa shirt, and the Olive shorts (in a fit of excitement with the weather, which has now changed back to rain 🙄). I also decided to try the Hedgerow shirt as I think the greens would fit in well with my wardrobe.

The foliage patterning our shirt has a wildness inspired by overgrown hedgerows. Crafted from cotton poplin. Available in Acid Green.

Mine looked stuck yesterday @ScottishMouse and has arrived this morning. I think the problem possibly is Swansea doesn’t scan them out.

Anyhow the white poplin top is not for anyone with a bust never mind the sizing issue. It is also cut away too much at the front. Too much flesh in the wrong place. Very disappointing as the fabric is lovely and it is a true white.

ScottishMouse · 16/05/2024 10:36

Mine should arrive today @Countmeout shame to hear that about the top, I was crossing my fingers but it sounds like it definitely won’t work for me either.

ScottishMouse · 16/05/2024 15:18

My poplin tops turned up, and while didn’t think they were ridiculously small overall, yep I agree with you @Countmeout , they are definitely not for anyone with a bust. Which is sad because it is a lovely top.

faustina · 16/05/2024 16:12

Just to let you know, TKMaxx online has some of the Finlay sunglasses that Toast sells (for £34.99 instead of £150). I've ordered a couple of pairs to try on. The Finlay website has that very useful function where you can try them on virtually

No1Mousie · 16/05/2024 19:09

@Qweesh The dip-dye gingham skirt arrived and I finally got it unpacked yesterday. It's just lovely; the fabric is a good weight, the cut is excellent, it's got pockets and it is very wearable either dressed up, or down.

Only downside is the blinkin dry-cleaning. I have reordered in a 12 as the 14 was too large (I'm a HS 14) and if that fits Ok I will keep it and see if. I can work out a way to fix the dye ... think it can be done with vinegar?

Qweesh · 16/05/2024 21:16

@No1Mousie Oh heck 🙈 I’m really pleased that you like it. It’s instances like this where you hope you’ll hate what you’ve ordered it isn’t it? I suppose we’ll have to figure out how to fix the dye then. I’ve been reading about salt, and vinegar, but I’ve seen so many conflicting instructions; I don’t see why Toast couldn’t have put the effort in but hey ho. I have been stalking the skirt waiting for my size to come back into stock. I wanted it when I saw it in the look book and have dithered for an age, mainly because I rarely wear skirts, and now it’s sold out. Serves me right. I am a lazy dresser anyway and took a punt on the dress instead. So I’ll be right there with you trying to find a fix 😁

Delurking to mention has anyone heard of Roake ? I stumbled across the shop yesterday whilst visiting a neighbouring town . It seemed very Toast . I didn't buy anything but was sorely tempted.
Have added a link

faustina · 17/05/2024 11:27

@triggers34 - I follow Hannah Rochell (not sure of the spelling) on Instagram who works for them and it seems to be a brilliant little label. Hannah is Slowette (slow fashion) now, but she used to have a blog about flat shoes

mizu · 17/05/2024 14:18

I bought one of the hair pins / grips / clips from Roake few years ago as a birthday present for someone. They have some lovely things.

MrsRadichio · 17/05/2024 14:27

Hello, thought I would jump back in to big up Roake as well :)

I have the Nicole jacket and it is a really useful little jacket.

That is v annoying about the dye potentially not being colourfast.

Did anyone watch the Live just now? Quite enjoyed it and liked the presenter (think she has been on other lives before?)

I like the poplin patchwork dress though the shirt would be more useful for me I think.

@ScottishMouse enjoyed hearing about your trying on session!

Nicole Jacket - MADE-TO-ORDER — Roake Studio

The inspiration for our best-selling quilted Nicole came from a vintage jacket I picked up in a charity shop (I loved it, but sadly it fell apart). I wanted to make something to wear year-round, perfect for everything from post-swim beach days to chill...

triggers34 · 17/05/2024 15:44

@faustina thank-you I've just started following Hannah on Instagram .

Re Toast i bought in the last sale some bark coloured trousers which I wear loads and a summer dress which I'm hoping to wear soon - can't remember the name button up short sleeves brown splats .

ScottishMouse · 17/05/2024 17:05

Just wanted to give a shout out to Toast CS. I tried on the blue stripe poplin dress with the drawstring at the waist and love the shape but not sure about the blue on me. I remembered they had a brown gingham version last year, which I never tried at the time, but would now love to buy. I searched on eBay, vinted etc but couldn’t find the right size, but I did find one that I could see the style code on, so I popped on the chat and asked. And they have it in stock still, at last year’s sale price, set up an order, emailed me the invoice, and I have ordered it to try. Amazing service! This is the second time I have had success with this recently, so pretty happy with that.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 17/05/2024 17:45

That’s great @ScottishMouse - sometimes Toast CS really does excel itself.

I was expecting my order today but it still seems to be stuck with RM, hopefully tomorrow.

faustina · 17/05/2024 18:00

@ScottishMouse -that is wonderful- hope it lives up to your expectations!

ScottishMouse · 17/05/2024 19:25

I hope so too @faustina. I am going on a summer holiday (although not somewhere very hot) for the first time in quite some years and realised that I have virtually no summer clothes (because Scotland!), so am trying to buy a few things.
It’s definitely worth asking CS if anyone is looking for something from a previous season.

AvaGardens · 17/05/2024 20:39

Thank you @triggers34 , just been to take a look at Roake and they do have very nice things, I like the neckerchief selection!

Stoic123 · 17/05/2024 21:34

@triggers34 - I'm another fan of the Nicole jacket. I own three and they are on constant rotation during the cooler months.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 18/05/2024 11:11

My order arrived early this morning and everything looks good.

The Olive shorts in a M are a good fit, I hadn’t held out much hope for them after last years oddly sized shorts, but these are much better.

The Asawa shirt is, as @ScottishMouse said, very oversized. I bought the S and could probably fit into the XS. At first I discounted it as too big, too dark and just not me. But after a trying on session I found it worked really well with a lot of my wardrobe. I rolled up the sleeves for a better look and like it as both a shirt and a light jacket.

My wildcard Hedgerow shirt is lovely. The M is a good fit and it goes with a lot of my plain trousers and also the olive shorts. I also tried it with the Olive stripe trousers and, although probably an acquired taste, I quite liked them together.

AmethystMoonShine · 19/05/2024 11:12

@AvaGardens me too, although glaring error that there are no sizes or measurements given!

Qweesh · 19/05/2024 14:58

If anyone is considering the the wide leg jumpsuit in Bilberry but unsure if the colour, it’s much darker IRL

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 19/05/2024 15:06

Thanks for the info @Qweesh - it's still a lovely colour though.
I usually find the trouble with toast jumpsuits is the leg length, as I'm only 5' 4".

Qweesh · 19/05/2024 15:16

@Theteapotsbrokenspout oh yes deffo, I kept it. If it’s of any use, I’m 5’5” and this just hits the top of my ankle. No silly dropped crotch either 🙌

OftenOrange · 19/05/2024 16:51

I suddenly got the hype of the Asawa linen shirt which several here love.
I found a S in Mayfair and am having XS sent from another store ( sold out online)
The S is very oversized but I quite like that look, need to compare with smaller.
As the lovely SA in Mayfair says, it’s a piece that adds texture, love that.
